50% off ALL Ad Muncher Licenses (Save from $14.97 up to $54.97) [Windows Software]

43
Christmas2013

I bought this several years ago and I haven't regretted it - it's one of the best purchases I've made. It even blocks those damned preroll video ads! It's fantastic to see such great, homegrown (based in NSW) software supported for so many years.

What makes Ad Muncher the ultimate ad blocker?

• Blocks ads in all browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, Safari, Flock, Netscape, Maxthon and Avant Browser.

• Kills unwanted popups in all browsers.

• Removes advertising in programs like Pando, SopCast, ICQ, Morpheus, Kazaa, PalTalk, iMesh, Bearshare, LimeWire, Yahoo! Music Jukebox, TVAnts and more.

• Speeds up page loading and saves bandwidth, thanks to the missing ads and pop up windows.

• Downloads in seconds, only 582 KB for the whole program.

• Works immediately out of the box, thanks to the most extensive ad blocking list available.

• Filters quickly and reliably, thanks to twelve years of constant development and feedback from users.

• Protects your privacy by blocking common third-party tracking systems.

• Blocks rich media advertising like video ads, interstitial ads and floating ads.

• Blocks many spyware, adware and dialer installers.

    Adblock+ is free

    • This does more than AdBlock Plus.

like what. looks the same to me

It's a pretty hard sell. AdBlock Plus is available in both Firefox and Chrome and they both work very well without much configuration "of of the box".

EDIT: The last version was released in July 2012 as well. So it means people who paid for a 1-year licence after that date didn't really get any program updates at all?

        • -1

They release definition updates much more often

+1 to adblock. I cringe whenever i hear people talk about ads they see on FB, youtube etc. What makes it worse is they don't bother to install it even after I tell them to.

Adblock+ and ghostery for all you advert and dodgy script free surfing. Install them on an unlimited number of pc's for free.

  • Adblock Edge is what you want — it's a development fork of Adblock Plus.

It does basically the same thing, but it cuts out the "Approved Ads" whitelist feature that allows certain ads to continue to be shown.

If you want to block ALL ads, install Adblock Edge. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-edge/

For Android users, if you are using a non-rooted device and don't want ads, you can use Firefox for Android and also install the Adblock Edge extension.
However this seems to come at a cost of browser performance.
For Rooted users, install AdAway from F-droid.

  • One advantage of this is that Internet Explorer also gets an ad block. However, IE also has some ad blocking filters available, but not as sophisticated as Adblock. A freeware I used to use that would also block ads for IE and any other web browser is Proxomitron. Pretty powerful but isn't being updated anymore. You can use the community made scripts, or if you're a javascript wiz, make your own. Privoxy is another one that does the same. It was primitive compared to Proxomitron but may have caught up by now. I haven't checked on either for many years.

  • Are you serious?

The free websites you view need to pay for themselves somehow.
    Don't block ads.
Sites like OzBargain can't run without the revenue from them.

    • +2

the people who block ads never click on ads so the websites wont miss a cent.

  • If i was going to pay, i would pay and get something like the AdTrap that will remove ads from ALL of my devices… shame it is so bloody expensive though… (http://www.getadtrap.com/)

And Adblock+ is available for IE. I use it at work cause our IT admin is a Nazi and wont allow Chrome or Firefox… hell, he wont even update IE. Surprised we are not still on XP.

    • Run Firefox portable. No need to install, so you can get around the limited user rights.

  • If you want to achieve the same thing, for free:
