  • bought! thanks!

  • +2

An awesome tv, I purchased mine from the previous deal
Hope they have them in stock this time, a number of us waited
weeks for the tv to arrive, when they were finally delivered
some of us including myself received damaged units

    • What was the issue with your unit?

      • cracked screen, a few of us from the previous deal received broken/cracked panels

  • You beat me by 5 seconds :)

One of the best if not the best TVs of 2013. This one or the ET60 depends whether you want Passive or Active 3d. + from me

  • Anyone knows how the home delivery works, as won't be home most of the time? Do they call you first or leave you a card to call them….?

    • +1

You can track your order online, they won't ring you,
You could possibly call them and arrange a suitable time for delivery
They use startrack express good luck If you decide to get it delivered

    • +1

I got this TV from DS during last deal, TV is great Delivery via Startrack was a real hassle - they do not ring beforehand, they do not give you a set time - you need to be home all day (took day off work) and even then they did not show In the end I got TV delivered to my retired Aunt who is home all day every day

  • +1

This might be your very last chance to grab one at this price. Panasonic are ending all plasma production early in the new year.

  • +4

Appliance Online have a best price guarantee -
    http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/panasonic-viera-th-p50st6…
The more people that do this means Dick won't sell out as quick and the deal will last longer.

    • +1

Thanks Luke. I just did that and they were happy to price match DS.

  • +1

Got this one from TGG during the last DS deal, they also have the price guarantee. Great tv

  • +1

Do not get this delivered. From the last deal, quite a few people had broken panels.

TV is quite good- exceptional colours and blacks when the content is 1080p

    2 minor issues
-input lag (so not suitable for serious gamers)
-When the screen is white and audio is low, there is a noticeable buzzing noise.

  • Great tv and a good price

  • Checked last night, no stock. Checked again today, no stock. Oh well, looks like I'll miss out.

    • Suggest you look instore. You might be lucky.

      • Problem is I'm interstate, and I've never really seen this set in the DS shops near me - metro Sydney, Marrickville, Bondi Junction etc.

  • Excellent deal for excellent TV. No doubt one of the most popular TV model on the market.

  • How is this deal compare to the other deal Sony Smart LED TV at the good guys for 747? Which one is better value for money? I don't need 3D just a TV. This is my fist digital TV.

    • +2

The 3D is more of a bonus novelty if anything - even if you don't use it, its still a great TV … and the picture quality of a plasma will kick the crap out of a LED TV any day! If you dont mind spending the extra $$, I'd get the Panasonic - you won't be disappointed!

    • +1

You won't be disappointed with the Panasonic ST60. Search reviews of it online, only praises to be found in every review.

That Sony LED TV for $747 doesn't even come close to this. You could even search reviews of last years model the Panasonic ST50, and that would still destroy the Sony TV.

    • -1

if you gonna use this TV is a room with no ambient lighting then this is the TV to get.

      • I have a 3 panel glass sliding door directly behind our seating and was a little concerned this would be an issue with screen reflection seeing I used to turn my Sony LCD on a slight angle to avoid this.
Turns out this plasma has a less reflective screen than the Sony LCD.
Worst case scenario I have pulled the blinds and switched the tv setting to Dynamic and it's no issue to watch at all.
Haven't needed to use the swivel stand yet.

  • +1

Had the Good Guys price match this last time DSE had this deal - brilliant TV… gotta love plasma!

  • Great telly, we picked one up the last time it was on offer. The picture quality is superb.

  • Got this delivered last time. The tracking system is just woeful for DS. The website kept saying the order is being processed and I called the DS call center about it and I kept being told that my order was delayed due to low stock, and it may not be fulfilled for a few months. They kept saying my only options are to wait or start a refund process. I decided to wait.

After waiting two weeks the TV suddely shows up. The delivery driver said he tried to deliver it 2 weeks ago (2 days after i ordered) and nobody was home. I wasnt home to collect because the entire time DS order tracking said it was still being processed with no indication of when it will be fulfilled.

So dont trust the DS tracking. And call star track express instead.

    The TV is awesome

  • no more plasmas by panasonic, this is a treasure

  • Very happy with this TV…

  • yup this is the xmas deal gonna jump on. unless the ST60 in 60" or equiv Sammy comes up, this one will be a keeper! Nice work and timing DSE.
Anyone see this deal for 50" ST60 being beat in next week ?

  • Out is stock since this morning. Not sure if available in store

  • Errr, from my phone, website shows temporarily out of stock but from the laptop it shows in stock….

Edit: Now out of stock in both :(

  • Damn hope more stock comes in or another retailer matches

  • On stock on my desktop but when going to buy says must click and collect then says click and collect not available so infinite loop

  • I got this TV from Good Guys in July when the cheapest going was $1250. Rang them up and simply asked if they could price match an offer of $1218 from "another" shop, he said "lets just make it 1200 straight".

  • I called up appliances online they price matched it is not showing out of stock on DS , Only when you add it to cart the order does not proceed. appliance online just checked the price and matched it with free delivery :)
if anyone missed on the deal, call up ap online

    • I just called them. The person I spoke to said they couldn't personally authorise the price match without a manager because of the large price difference. He told me to take a screenshot of the price and then call back on Friday.

      • +1

Answering phones on Christmas Day, now that's customer service.

      • Same. Dunno what my chances are calling back on Friday.

  • i just put an order in with Appliances Online. Lovely Australian service. I had just missed last Victorian stock probably due to selling 2 other to ozbargainers (1 online, 1 phone) Order is Cash on Delivery, didn't take credit card details. Sent a confirmed order number and matched $997 delivery.
System is saying stock will be available/delivered January 2nd which is fine here as wanted that TV at that sub $1k price.
If something else comes up with the same model/price etc can still cancel order too, but so far more than happy with AP.
(also having had my share of incompetence with Dick Smith on refunds and returns that took months for simple items and their processing systems are messed up)
Thx again Ozbargainers can't wait to see some 720p + 1080p HD .mkv's on the ST60. Now Synology 1512+ NAS or Asustor-302T!

    • That would be me buying the one over phone after reading luke's comment. Impresssed with appliance online customer service. The TV would be delivered on Monday with cod.

      • classic yeh. had the family xmas brekkie then rang up appliances online and the helpful australian girl said "i think we have one more let me check…" : then "oh sorry.. 1 sold online and 1 sold on phone" - she was able to quote model number i was calling about as soon as i said "calling about a panasonic tv dick smith have on special etc" nice one AP! now just get us our TV's please. Can't wait to setup the ST60!

  • how does this compare to $747 on the https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/128189

    • in reality ST60 is one of the best TV's out in last year. The Wirecutter who review the reviewers rate it the best TV (across criteria)
      http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-tv-panasonic-st60/
The Sony TV looks good, but is LCD/LED, is only 50hz (not as good a picture would be my guess) and typically in LCD I'd prefer a 6 series 100hz Samsung which also plays all codecs so doesn't need a media player. The Sony's a damn good buy ($110 cheaper than Binglee) tho depending on your use case.
ST60 is my choice for watching AFL and HD bittorrent tv shows and movies!
63 pages about it over on whirlpool as well
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2079040&p…

      • hmm any advantages of the sony? the price seems too attractive to miss out on …$747 for a smart 50" 3d tv .. hmmm

        • +1

Definitely a good buy other than being 50hz & not playing all codecs hence needing a WDTV type device- is the Sony.

There is a basic thread on whirlpool: eg a few owners of the series/model below-

          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2116202

"I bought one just last week.

Yes they do – I can't get it to work with a connected USB hard drive to play media (the TV freezes) – but I have a DLNA-enabled router which sorts that out – it will work with a USB key though. I have read that this is the case with most TVs – not just this one.

I haven't used the USB HDD record function, so I can't comment on how that works, but it needs to be a dedicated drive – as it will be formatted to work with the TV.

The SMART TV features are the best I have ever seen on a TV – you get built-in Ten, Seven, SBS and ABC iView catch up. Youtube, Facebook etc. With the Samsung TVs you don't get anywhere near as many catch up services.

The TV is however a 50hz TV – so if you watch a lot of action stuff, it will not be as smooth, but if you don't, it'll be fine.

Just in case anyone wants to wall mount this, whilst it includes a fixed wall mount it is NOT VESA COMPATIBLE so you can't use any VESA mount with it. I didn't realise this until after I got it.

Other than that, I can't fault it. There was an issue whereby the TV would freeze if you'd try and play MKV files, but there was a software update on Wednesday that has fixed that. :)

          Go forth and buy!"

  • The crazy thing is that deficiencies in the supply chain are losing dick Smith a good number of sales.

    • totally i had a paypal credit so used it to buy apple keyboard and trackpad. the wifi keyboard came with #2 button not working.. took them months and 10+ calls to pickup then i still don't know if i ever got a refund. don't think i did. their call centre was like calling aunt margie who knows nothing about nothing…

  • I bought this tv from last DS deal, however the TV failed after about 3 days. i rang DS, they said since it is outside 1 month, they will not swap to a new unit, however asked me to contact panasonic.

rang panasonic, told them red light flashes 7 times, and fail to operate, they are contacting a local repairman who needs to wait till jan to get a replacement part to repair my tv.

    not really happy.

  • This TV is really good for movies and general viewing, but if you want to play games, you should go for a faster model like the Panasonic VT series.

  • Was just down as Harvey Norman Chadstone (VIC), and they have this TV at the ticketed price of $997.

    • Damn just bought from DSE Claremont (second last one) and could of used the AMEX offer

    • Wow website says $1196. Do u think it's an official sale or just that store etc ? Cheers. Have one ordered with AP just hoping order is fulfilled etc:)

  • 4 left at dicks innaloo westfield

  • Yeah a few left in stores. 1 at booragoon garden cuty

  • This is a great TV!!!!!

  • +1

Managed to pick one up online from the Eastgardens store today for $997, so I guess they're still out there.

    • In NSW? If so, any left?

Also, how would you organise transport?

      • Eastgardens Westfield is in (Pagewood) Sydney, but I didn't ask if there were any units left. Give them a ring on (02)93141677 and talk to them directly. Maybe they have one in stock and you can get it delivered.

I initially tried to purchase on-line with delivery included for $997 nearest me (Ramsgate Beach) which is Rockdale Plaza Dick Smith, but with no luck.

I then tried the next closest store (Eastgardens) which is only 15 mins away but it would only allow me to collect so I picked it up myself (with the help of a friend) this afternoon.

        • +1

I was about to respond when I got kicked off…

As it turns out, there's also two or three left in Chatswood. So those in the area should check it out. Try also Neutral Bay. DSE delivers and installs for $99, not sure if there's a cheaper deliver only option.

Unfortunately for me, They only hold Click and Collect for 24 hours, and there's no deposit nor pay upfront option. Bit hard while I'm interstate.

          Hope it helps someone,
