Just picked one up in store here in Sydney. You should try them out first, but great chair. Definitely the cheapest Aeron in Australia.

      • over 15 years ago OW probably produced better quality products. I've had one for 3 years and its time for replacement. I do agree this is expensive but if it claims to last for 12 years, it is def worth the buck. As for Made in China arguments, it would come down to the quality control in place and the price they sell it for. In most cases the price reflects the quality of the product.

        • The moment you lift it up, you'll realize it's not your typical cheap office chair. I have no doubt it'll last 12 years, unless badly abused.

Buying 8 and will be using as dining chairs. Great find OP. The $ saved means I can buy a rectangular desk and use as a dining table.

These chairs are all marketing gimics, they all break down eventually, they are like your Lv brand, or any other watch, a good seiko is just as good as a tag huer, why pay so much? they arny decorarated with good or diamonds, you might have a little better quality than ow chairs but most of these chairs should be charged perhaps $300-500. For It to last
It all depends how they also taken care of.Realistically these guys are making a fortune out of you lot, they don't even cost to make anywhere near what you are paying.

    • "a good seiko is just as good as a tag huer"

You obviously don't know how much a GOOD Seiko costs…

You are paying for better material, design, R&D, ergonomic, "Made in USA", and of course the 12 years warranty. It only works out to be ~$80 a year (assuming it breaks right after 12 years), for people that sits on their chair 8 hours a day, that is indeed a bargain. (only 30 cents a day!)

"they don't even cost to make anywhere near what you are paying"

R&D and warranty are not cheap. When my Embody was squeaking slightly I called them and they send a technician over to adjust a few screws, now that's amazing after service and something you'll never get from a OW chair. Like others have said, if you can't see the value of having a chair that is better for your back if you sit all day, and the 12 years warranty, then this chair is not for you.

  • What about Ergohuman V1 with headrest? A$519 with free delivery http://buydirectonline.com.au/office-chairs/ergohuman-mesh-c…

My friend has one, I tried it and it feels good. May not be as good as the HM Aeron but only 1/2 price, does a pretty good job.

    • That's the good introduction ergonomic chair, I'd go for v2 over v1 though especially as the arm rests are a lot better. I almost bought that instead of the Aeron but went with the Aeron for the style as it looks good in any room :)

      • Are the prices from the website for the V2 good?

  • The Sayl is for $490, normally $645.
I will pick up one of those.

    • Nice, the Sayl is on sale

  • I've been waiting for this sale. Tested the chair at Living Edge in Richmond, really enjoyed it, like how its like sitting on air and keeps me cool during the hot days.

Anyways, I've taken time to think about it thoroughly and had family, friends and their families provide me advice about the chair.

Friends and their families are on the side 'you don't need a chair that costs that much, just a chair ~$250-300 with around 5 years warranty will suffice'. My family however pretty much let me do as I wish.

About the warranty costs, I asked them personally and they told me if there's something covered to be fixed they will come to my place and repair my seat free of charge. Does this include the gas cylinder, if not how much does this cost to replace?

And how much does replacing worn out seat and back cost and how long do these two parts last before replacing on heavy usage?

I think I may get the aluminum for its look unless its not worth it.

I haven't found a seat so far which equals or beats the Aeron on 'cooling'. Though friends say I should just grab an officeworks chair and invest in air conditioning if I want to stay cool.

    Advice? Cheers.

    • I'd say air conditioning would probably keep you cooler.

      • +1

Even with air conditioning, a non-mesh chair will heat up. Your butt is sealed against the seat, after all.

  • What about this mira 2? Whats it cost

I bought this a few years ago when it was this price. I am self employed and sit in it about 12 hours a day so $1000 is nothing.

You get what you pay for, I would go through chairs every couple of years before where as my aeron still looks brand new.

The mesh is great as it is very easy to clean and keeps you cool during summer and can't build up with crap over the years.

People may think $1000 for a chair is ridiculous but how much does a lounge suite cost and you don't spend anywhere near as much time on it.

That said I would highly recommend anyone considering an Aeron actually go in and try one for themselves. It would suck to spend $1000 on something that you don't actually like sitting in.

    • I wish this chair had an anti-dust coating on it, that's the one thing that annoys me after paying so much as it gets surprisingly dusty around the back

      • $1000 for a chair- I'd want it to do the housework or take the bins out or something too.

  • anyone having this chair - where would i get replacement parts like the gas lift? it keeps dropping in height so im guessing i need it replaced as its got no warranty… any help would be great!

  • I had things stolen from a break-in at work recently and learned if you buy this chair for your office for your personal use, and it gets stolen, your employer will have no obligation of paying you for it and neither will their insurance cover you.

Food for thought. I lost a $35 set of headphones. This is a $1k chair and it just takes one idiot to smash a window or simply a disgruntled co-worker to wheel it away one weekend when nobody is watching.

    • Thieves steal furniture?

      • They steal your kidneys if they are worths a million dollars.

  • It is a nice chair - I have one at work (supplied by work and work paid around $600 for new one - the joy of buying in bulk). I tried to get one for home, got a bit challenging with Payroll and gave up at the end.

Bought 1 2nd hand, 3 years ago 3 weeks after breaking my back, once the docs had fixed me up in hospital. Payed about $550, well worth the cash if u are a sit at desk type PC user. Now I have a projector screen and racing bucket seat, or bean bag to sit on, but the Herman Miller is defiantly the pick of the bunch. Great chair, can not fault!!!

  • Anyone notice that they Sheldon and lenny use these on big bang?

    • If you look closely, about 80% of work places in American shows have these chairs.

My last job supplied these to all 1000 staff members in our building. I worked for an American company. When someone asked why we were getting these chairs, we were told it was now global corporate policy and was introduced to minimize any posture caused injury.

      • Also, in the first Matrix, the chair Neo sits in when he enters the matrix is an Aeron.

  • I have one of these in very good condition if anyone is interested in a private sale.

    I am in melb.

Can I have it for half price? I am located in Sydney. Also free postage?

  • Innerspace in Adelaide will match these prices until end of January if that helps anyone.

    • They sure will, I got one today :)

All the nerds voted this up. I'm not paying $990 for a chair, are you crazy?

    • +1

I built a pile of Eneloops and finish powerballs to sit on, but they didn't suffice. Anyway, I'm selling my Porsche turbo thanks to your insight. The Festiva should be fine.

      • A pile of Eneloops and finish powerballs to sit on is an expensive investment, maybe you should buy this Herman Miller Aeron chair.

Looks like you're a rep for no1supplements.com.au. Someone could easily say something about the "Boost Male Sexual Performance" supplements of questionable value that you sell.

      • colurful pis… just good for golden sh..

  • they are a great chair, very happy i bought one in the past

they only part it lacks is a headrest, but you can buy oem attachable headrests from amazon

you dont need a headrest for normal office work, only when you want to lean back and watch youtube etc

  • Can't work out whether to get this or the sayl

I couldn't tell much difference in terms of comfort

Though I suspect resale value of aeron makes it more worthwhile?
