Costco - 10 KG Samsung Front Load Washer (WF1104XAC) $999 or $899 from Master's (Pricematch)

110

Hi guys ,

Just ordered in my new 10 KG Samsung Washing Machine (WF1104XAC) from Master's Williams Landing - VIC. I took a jpeg posted by someone on whirlpool forums of Costco price of 999$ and Master's were nice enough to beat it by 10% without much of hassle.

Uploaded receipt here

Machine has some good reviews online , Cheapest advertised price I found was from App Online for $1119.00 .You can beat 899$ price by taking this to Good Guys and asking them to honour their price beat guarantee.

Hope my little contribution is useful to OZB community.

Thanks !

    • Oooo snappp! poster got googled!

when you move out of home MrZ, you'll find out that most washers are measured in kg.

      • -2

That's silly. In America, they are measured in volume (cubic feet in their case). The same way you would measure the size of a fridge.

        • You need to go and complain to all the retailers then

        • +5

Because America does everything better, like measuring in cubic feet instead of litres or cubic cm like you suggested.

        • +2

You'll find out how silly it is when your washer breaks down after fitting 10kg of jeans into a 5kg washer.

        • +5

In Russia they are measured in bottles - how many bottles of Smirnoff Vodka can you fit inside.

        • -8

Are cubic feet any less accurate than any other unit of measurement? Besides, we still measure TVs in INCHES. How stupid and archaic is that???

        • -5

Have you seen a 5kg washer? Unless it's made out of solid metal, you're not going to fit 10kg of anything inside there.

        • +3

TV's are not the only thing measured in inches in Australia…

          Umm, water???

Volume would be a much more useful measurement. KG is a way for manufacturers to deceive customers. A customer assumes that a 10kg washer can fit twice as much clothing in it as a 5kg, but this is not necessarily the case.

        • +4

MrZ, I have 5kg washer so I know what size they are. And kg is used to measure the weight the motor can take to operate safely and efficiently. I used jeans as they're heavier than most other clothing items but do not take up more room necessarily.

A 10kg washer will be able to do twice as much as a 5kg washer provided that you're doubling the same articles of clothing.

Volume means nothing if the motor cannot handle the weight.

My 10 litre washer broke down when I was trying to give my dumbbell a good wash

Of course, we can assume that manufacturers underquote the capacity to try and get customers to buy a more expensive model. For example, I'm willing to bet that a 5kg washer could easily handle a 6kg load. But we have to take the manufacturer's word for it, because there's no way to measure this ourselves. Volume, on the other hand, is something that is absolutely measurable. I think the ACCC should get more involved and ask manufacturers to quote, at the very least, both volume and capacity.

Great washer. Only blemish is the wording on the panel started to rub off a couple of weeks after we got it. Suspect it was from the Eucalyptus oil, so just be careful.

On occasion, something might get stuck near the bottom of the glass portal and not get the full washing love. But overall, a great and worthy upgrade from our previous top loader.

Those new to these front loaders, watching the wash cycle through the glass could be mesmerising. And hypnotic. :D

The settings on our stanless steel oven did the same thing. It was rather fun (not) guessing at where the temperature settings were. The only thing I can think that might have happened is that it must have been sprayed with orange cleaner.

We ended up paying for a new face plate.

Do you have a link to the Costco price? It's highly unlikely that Good Guys will beat this price based on a receipt only and Masters would be unlikely to match it too. A pricematch is not really a deal by itself but it could be useful to post as a Costco deal instead.

      • The images are from the whirlpool thread - the comment is from July 2012. Can anybody verify that the item is available at Costco at the same price?

As it is, post does not really meet our price matching deal guidelines.
The 'deal' should be the merchant selling at the lowest price before the price match, i.e. Costco.

So we do need to know if $999 is the current price at Costco in order to verify that this deal is 'reproducable'. In the meantime, I'll edit this deal to link to Costco.

It's not even an original receipt…

      • I will post the original one as soon as i pick my Washer from Master's ( next week sometime)

        • Have you got your washer and original receipt yet?

        • not yet , i m waiting for a call from Master's .

    • Thats Factory seconds though

  • Price seems to be $1182 in their online store…

    • Correct , As mentioned above , Master's price matched and then beat it by 10% against Costco price of $999 .

  • That's great, I purchased one in November from masters using the 10% off for first online order bargain. I am very happy with it. This is a better price.

I've had this washer a year now. I actually tried to do this last year, but the people at masters refused to price match because the 10% thing excluded appliances at the time.

Its great with pet hair, it all gets pushed to the front so you can clear it out when you open the door. Same with tissues a lot of the time. Super quiet compared to my previous top loader. I have it hooked up to my hot water tap (50c) and it has been fine with that. 1400rpm spin is great for winter, but for things like towels it turns them into cardboard :) If you line dry I recommend using 800rpm max. If anyone wants to know the motor and pump electrical details I have them somewhere.

Use WOW giftcards to get an extra 5% off.

  • Masters can be counted on to price match. I was after the Samsung 7.5 kg WD0754W8E that they had on special for iirc ~$660. However a quick Google search on my phone told me it was $599 at The Electric Discounter. So just for me it was ~$540. Yesterday saw the same model at JB hi-fi for $800, which was their special price for the last one (floor stock).

The WD0754W8E doesn't have the latest inverter motor tech but it does 1400 RPM and has a 4kg dryer to boot.

    Thanks !

    • Thanks, will probably give this a go. How did you go about the price match? According the web this item is a special order at my store. Did you just go to the appliance section and show them the receipt on your phone? Did they have the washer in store?

      • Yes ,showed Costco receipt on phone . they price beat it by 10% . I paid in full n placed my order , picked washer in a week .

    • Dup.

    • Thanks!
