3 Pairs of Steel Tongs $7.00 Delivered from MilanDirect

660

I recently bought a pair of steel tongs from kmart for about 7 bucks each, so three for what seem to be of a good design are pretty cheap!

bought this 2 weeks ago.. they're good tongs

  • What brand are they?

    • unbranded

    • 'Steel'

      Why would it matter?

      • Type of steel matters. The $2 tongs are thin steel and bend or flex. The better steel or the thick steel are the better tongs. Sturdy and good for picking up big pieces of meat etc. They cost $4 each from kmart. These are the ones you want.

      • Why would it matter?

So I can find some reviews.

I bet Tong reviews are very comprehensive

It needs to be for those who can't get a grip.

My friends will look down on me if I don't buy $80 tongs from Myer or David Jones.

but these are "Practical And Stylish"

Are we talking about tongs or thongs?

      • stainless steel won't corrode (rust) under normal use. Mild steel will rust quickly, and plated steel will tend to flake then rust.

        It matters a lot.

Much as I love a bargain, I dream of banning the production or sale of crap products that die after a couple of months/years, especially if its 'planned obsolesence' (I'm looking at you, Makita, and your 1.5Ah batteries !!!).

For those who only need one, they are available for $3 delivered. Wish I saw this before making my purchse.

  • Most steel tongs have an aluminium rivet at the hinge that corrodes and breaks when you wash them in the dishwasher. So if you want your tongs to last wash them by hand.

    • aluminium rivet at the hinge that corrodes

A couple of coats of epoxy primer will stop this from happening…

    • My wife bought 2 pairs of tongs from Coles a while back.
The steel seemed very good quality but they did break after not too long being washed by the dishwasher.
She seems to think that it was the heat that made the steel expand and 'pop' the end off the rivet so maybe primer isn't the answer.

      • She seems to think that it was the heat that made the steel expand and 'pop' the end off the rivet so maybe primer isn't the answer

you must have an impressively hot dishwasher to make that physically possible..

        • We've got cheaper tin plate type tongs with a similar rivet which are lasting a lot longer than the Coles stainless steel ones did.
Yes, I know aluminium 'corrodes' in a dishwasher but these particular tongs didn't last long at all.

  • Thanks you. Just bought one. Also the 9" is on sale for $3 each

Shame they don't have the left handed ones.

  • They have also reduced this one further from $13 to $9 (RRP $49). Good thing I didn't buy them initially, got one yesterday with the further price reduction.

  • Thanks OP. Picked up a Rotary Whisk for $3 at the same time. Doesn't need batteries either. Winning! OZB style

Dunno why but I thought I saw 3 pairs of Lexington Steel Thongs.

    • LOL but one only has two foot…

  • Is this to allow multiple bbq masters to take over the grill whilst sinking beers simultaneously?

I can barely manage one pair without burning the crap out of my steak.

  • Oversold :( looks like refunds coming our way

    • I got a shipping notification this morning

    • The same here, it sucks :)

  • Yeah I'm a little pissed off… they mistakenly sent me one Tong instead of 3 and promised to send the other two last Friday. When this deal popped up all Tongs were snapped up and now I get an apology with an offer of $4 back or $7 store credit. Surely I should get priority :/

  • Received this email a few days ago, I replied but have not heard anything back…

I'm afraid due to the overwhelming response to our current sale, the Set of 3 - 9" Stainless Steel Food Tongs have been oversold, and we have no expected shipment date for this item.

We understand that this can be frustrating, and would like to offer the following options for your consideration:

    1. Would you be interested in exchanging the order to another from our Kitchenware Range?

    2. Should you wish, we can cancel your order and issue you with a full refund.

    3. On this occasion we would be happy to offer a $10 store credit for each setting purchased in lieu of a refund.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Kind regards,

    • A quick follow up for those interested - Jessica replied to my email, and she was very helpful.

They were willing to exchange the item for another that was slightly more expensive, and because of the trouble they offered to waive the difference.

      Thanks Milan Direct!

  • Received all three on Friday after putting thru the order the Saturday before that. Finally replace a similar one that, like most people are saying, had the pin pop.
