Circulon 12-Piece Cookware Set - Red Metal Utensil & Oven Safe | TOTAL Food Release System $149

50

A while ago this was very popular on Macy's site but sold out quickly, if it is exactly the same one.

How did those who bought it find the quality? Personally I don't like the colour or the handles.

Can't see easily the shipping costs as I can't be bothered logging in. Only my 2nd deal posted so all constructive comments gratefully read. Anyway, what's a food release system and who makes this cr*p up.

Umm, Circulon at Myer have a life-time/10 year warranty…this is 12 months? http://meyer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/292

  • Pla, that's not good. But, it may relate to the scoopon warranty rather than the manufacturer warranty as evidenced by this scoopon statement (though it's buyer beware):

The goods you have purchased may contain warranty documents on or inside the packaging provided by the manufacturer of the product. Any such warranty documents are not given by us, and are separate from this warranty. Some warranty documents provided by manufacturers of imported goods may not apply in Australia. You should contact the manufacturer identified on the warranty document to determine whether or not the warranty applies to the goods in Australia and, if so, how you should go about making a claim under such a warranty.

  • Is this just the 'Genesis' aluminium set that retails (or at least is at that price on the US Circulon site right now) for US$149? If so, not a great set unless you're moving into your first house and need something better than what kmart or similar have on sale.

That said, ripper price for a lot of entry-level cookware!

Nope, this is the 'Total' 12 piece set that retails for US$249, although it only has grey on the circulon website.

The genesis is also only a 10 piece.

  • From the Circulon US website:

    http://shop.circulon.com/Cookware/Circulon-Genesis-Aluminum-…

It states that the cookware is suitable for: Gas, Solid Plate, Radiant Ring, Ceramic, Halogen.

Does anyone know what (if any of these) are the equivalent of induction? Im about to move into my first place and my cooktop is an induction one.

    Thanks!

    • No, if it doesn't say it, it won't work, they usually love saying that it's capable of being used on induction. Also, look for it being made out of steel, or at least steel on the bottom, that's usually one of the signs. Lastly, look down below, I have listed some models that will work with induction.

Induction is a category all it's own. You can tell if a pot is induction appropriate by whether a magnet sticks to the bottom. If it DOES stick, yes it's good for induction. That will only work if you go into a shop and try it, or the ad says good for induction. If a description does not mention induction, it won't work.

Besides , no one needs all those pots if you have a microwave. I reckon you really only need a med size saucepan and a good frying pan. Maybe a really big pot if you intend to cook a lot all at once.

Great advice anna10. We use a fry pan for steaks, a small stainless pan for bacon/eggs, and we also have a large pan for chicken dishes, etc. we also use sauce pans for pasta, soup, etc - but 12pce sounds a little too much for a family :)

Keep in mind that 5 of those 'pieces' are lids

        • +1

For some reason, the US like to include the lids as separate parts, but the UK don't, so if you're shopping on Amazon.co.uk, a 5 set can be almost as big usually as the 10 sets.

    • Great advice! Thanks for clarifying :)

Induction won't work, as it's aluminium and not steel (one of the other tell-tale signs). There's not a huge amount of induction sets, i spent a short while researching it. If you want Induction and Non-stick, look for:

    http://www.anolon.com/shop-anolon.html?Brand=Anolon+Nouvelle… - Anolon Novelle Copper
    http://shop.circulon.com/Cookware/Infinite-Circulon-10-Piece… - Circulon Infinite
    http://www.circulon.com/shop-circulon.html?Brand=Circulon+Sy… - Circulon Symmetry
    http://www.scanpan.com.au/product_ranges/index/induction - Scanpan Induction+
http://www.t-falusa.com/All+Products/Cookware/Nonstick+Cookw… - T-fal (Tefal) Professional (most people seem to say yes it works, others are saying that it doesn't, so not 100% on this one).
http://www.tefal.com.au/All+Products/Cookware/Non-Stick+Cook… - Tefal Selective, definitely works with Induction.

The other models don't seem to be capable of induction, and if they are, they're not non-stick. Also, Amazon.com don't seem to ship these to AUS, but Amazon.co.uk do.

    Hope this helps! :)
