I would possible be interested in a single HDMI port screen cast as all my devices go through my HT system. Let's try and find one.

I read up on the issue of HZ… my understanding is that HZ greater than 60 is only really required if you want motion flow… I have this turned off on my tv as I find it weird looking. TV programs are broadcast at 50 HZ… 60 HZ should be fine for DVD/Blu-ray.

      • Quite possible, but if someone has a 100Hz/200Hz TV and are used to a particular response or display when watching high motion footage, then they might see a difference when using this screen cast device, or then again, maybe not.

        • I suspect that their TV, if motion flow capable, would compensate….

The reviews of this device have been pretty good (ie no lag) other than for some issues with the remote.

For this price, I will give it a go..

        • be careful I bough one of these for $89 from shopping express delivered not too long ago and the remote was stuffed so yes you are taking a risk was nothing but a waste of time for me

        • There was a bunch of chatter over at Whirlpool about the remotes:

          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1856684

Seems to be pretty widespread, was one of the reasons I've held off.

        • Yeah…saw that too…

I don't have foxtel, so won't be using the IR function…fingers crossed!!

  • Have been waiting on a good price for awhile, having missed a deal late last year. They've been ~$113 on the bay for ages and not budging. Hmmmmmmmmm.

  • Ive got one and they are pretty buggy, my old analogue one has better distance and is easier to work.

I got one last year for $89 delivered and love it. I had to replace the battery in the remote as it didn't work out of the box, and because I was sending Foxtel, I had to buy a powered HDMI Splitter as well.
Once those two things were sorted, it works great.

The IR function works perfectly. The crap included remote battery and the system UI are the only things I would complain about, but even they aren't a big deal.

  • I use it for my Foxtel - it works fine. I paid $149 from Harvey Norman about 12 months ago. The IR blaster works as intended (at least with my Foxtel it does).

  • So would this work with the Peel Remote app for tablets? Or any of the other remotes like Harmony, Logitech etc?
