  • i already have a japanese xbox account but what is cheapest option to get gold on that account to get just cause 2 free?

    • Not sure mate, I tried a 48 trial didn't work so you must have at least a 3 month/12 month by the looks of it… otherwise try find a cheap 3 month xbox gold membership or buy the game from the usa marketplace or the aussie marketplace

  • create a new Xbox Live capable profile, you should be able to get a 30 day trial or

min 1 month gold 5.99 us

Yeah but wouldn't after that 1 month is over you'll lose access to the game any way since it's a subscription service.

That's not how Xbox Live has ever worked. Anything you buy is yours forever (unless you get banned, in which case you lose the ability to RE-download anything you bought - but you have access to anything already downloaded).

        XBL != PS+

Just a warning that Microsoft have starting banning people who take advantage of deals like this. See: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/10/xbox-360-owners-banned-for-…

It might not cause your main account to be banned though, so it might be ok?

Secondly, with Just Case 2 only costing $9.97 on the AU marketplace, and you still need to create a Japanese account/buy a Japanese Gold subscription/risk the account being banned, is this really worth the small savings?

I'm not sure you'd want to spend all that money on an Xbox Live Japanese account when Just Cause 2 xbox 360 is only $20 on a JB 2 for $40 sale. That's boxed retail the digital download would be less. Is it really worth it paying up all that money just to get a free game for more than what you can actually buy the game for.

People go like oh look free game must spend money to get it. So in the end you're spending money to get it one way or another. You might as well buy the game outright and is yours to keep forever.

    • Or it could be sold on ebay too.

Just an FYI - doing this IS a bannable offence under the XBL Terms and Conditions (Creating an account for a foreign country to get content from another marketplace), so do so at your own risk. Hundreds, possibly thousands, of people got banned towards the end of last year for creating an account for a different country to get some free XBL games.

Yeah the whole console gets banned. So then you'll need to buy a new console if you want to play online but then there's a good chance that console too will get banned.

      • Not always, but you should act like it will if you are thinking about taking advantage of this deal. Some people just had their foreign accounts banned but console/main account were fine, others got console bans but account was fine, others got everything banned.

    • I wonder if that violates anti competitive rules in Australia… if it happened to me I would be contacting the ACCC.

Saying that though, I won't be using this tactic to contain a game, hehe.

  • Yeah as mentioned you can get JC2 for less than $10 at the moment and its worth it.

I did not know about the bans… Sorry guys!

    • No worries, you were just trying to share a good bargain. Thanks for posting!
