So, what is the actual capacity on this?
Given the size, I'd guess around 5000-7000mAh? And the discharge rate is another matter all together..

    • +1

if its lithium it shouldn't have a high discharge rate.

Capacity wise…. i'd say around 5000mAH, all the unknown small brands jack up the capacity. It is really hard to know, since some of them are even more dodgy and pad the case with metal so it feels heavier making you think it has more capacity.

I remember buying some 2000mah rechargeable AA batteries from China, lol. actual capacity was like 500mah.

      • +1

The discharge rate can vary even though it's lithium. I bought a "10000mAh" battery, filled it up and left it in my bag. When I needed to use it, about a week later, it was completely flat.

I'd buy one if I have a guarantee that if it is not 9200mAh, I'd get a refund. Even then, I've had Reps from OzB who said the same thing but never refunded when the product was defective/not matching the description

    • The actual capacity is 9200 mAh

      • +1

Lol, that's what it says on the package.
Past experiences tells me that often the item doesn't match the packaging.

Once the item is sent to us, if we discover it isn't anywhere close to 9200mah, will you give instant refund without us sending the item back?

Australia doesn't allow any mailing of Lithium Batteries, therefore we cannot send the item back to you for a refund.

        • It shows on the package 10000 mAh, the factory told us it is real 9200 mAh.

        • +10

          That sounds completely trustworthy!

        • It shows on the package 10000 mAh, the factory told us it is real 5000 mAh !

You can't pass the buck to the fatory…

If -you- advertise / offer a product & give a capacity specification, you're responsible for your claim.

PS For all the metering equipment made & sold by Chine,
surely there -someone- can buy & use a measuring device to, eg, actually -check- the capacity claims stated by factories & advertised by vendors to Australians. Right?

          If not now, when? :-/

        • +6

so already advertising it as 10000mah but admitting that it falls short of that? thats dishonest marketing if ever i heard it…

        • i think i might have found a pic of one of these….. http://www.overclockers.com.au/image.php?pic=images/newspics…

  • +1

This is very cheap. Much cheaper than the cheapest units selling at MSY and it comes with free shipping.

Note: The money back guarantee cannot be used if the package is sent from outside Australia. Australia Post refuse to send any lithium ion batteries via air or sea mail.

    • Thanks for your information, please don't worry, we can send the external battery to Australia.

      • +1

Hi. It's true that Australia Post will deliver incoming packages but won't send packages out of Australia containing lithium batteries. Odd I know, but that's their policy.

        • It is most likely illegal to send Lithium Batteries, but they just don't declare it and pretend it isn't Lithium.
I know in Hong Kong they do not allow sending of these batteries and other stuff like Perfumes, in China heaps of dodgy s!@t happens LOL!.

It is now illegal to check in lithium batteries on a airplane and you must hand carry it.

        • It's not illegal to post Lithium batteries except in Australia due to their kneejerk reaction to a policy change regarding the bulk shipment of Lithium batteries by International organisations. Hong Kong post is accepting Lithium batteries after a short term ban.

  • Is this compatible with iphone 5 ?

    • Yes, it can compatible with iphone 5, just need to contact the external battery to your iphone with your iphone 5 USB cable. The cable is your iphone 5 charger cable.

      • thanks

  • How would one test the actual capacity of one of these?

Tears down a few of these battery packs, and does some discharge testing with results.

    • So, one way might be to calculate the value of a Resistor that mimics a device drawing 5 Volts at 2 Amps. The Resistor must be capable of surviving continuous heat from the load it will put on the device, ie: over 10 Watts ( = 5 Volts X 2 Amps ) Maybe a 12 Watt resistor is big enough (although it may get warm).

Connect a Resistor of the computed value across the 5 Volt output lines.

Put an Ammeter in-line, to measure current drawn, ie, to check that it's 2 Amps.

See how long device can hold the Voltage at (or slightly above) 5 Volts, while the connected Resistor, while it's drawing 2 Amps.

It should do that for maybe 4.5 - 5 hours.
      ( 2 Amps for 5 Hours is 10 Ampere Hours )

(IF you use it to charge devices that draw only 1 Amp during charging,
the device should charge a sequence of such devices over 9 - 10 hours)

So, this should be a useful device, IF it's factory-given spec is correct.

      But is it…? :-/

      • +1

Anoher question: Do Li Polymer cells & batteries charge correctly from the 5 Volts likely to be Input to this device?

Or do they require a special charger?

The answer could affect usable life of the product.

        NOTE: MAYBE THERE'S A REASON FOR THIS VENDOR'S "7 day" warranty…

        BUYER BEWARE!

  • What is the input connection?

    • There will be a cable with the battery, you can use it to charger the external battery. From our description, there is a picture show the input port.

      • That doesn't answer my question and the image on your website is unclear. Is it a proprietary connection etc?

        • Yes, there are three connection on the battery , one input, two output.

        • +1

That doesn't answer my question and the image on your website is unclear. Is it a proprietary connection etc?

damnable - The specs say Micro USB, and the picture looks clear enough to me ?!? The "Package Contents" also lists a Micro USB cable…

Yes, there are three connection on the battery , one input, two output.

Dghan - They don't look proprietary, what is proprietary about them ?!?

The specs say Micro USB for the input, and the picture certainly appears to show Micro USB if you scroll down to the description, or click to enlarge ?!?

Once again, looking at the images, and the types of cables plugged in, the two output ports are almost certainly regular USB ports…

        • rep, damnable, wants to ask, is the input connection a micro-usb, round dc plug?

        • is the input connection a micro-usb, round dc plug?

It says Micro USB in the website description and looks as such in the picture :-)

some people are just too lazy to check for themselves

  • +1

10000mAh for just less than AUD20!!! I'm scared. It's already beyond the "too good to be true" range.

Anyone bought this item please do come back to let us know the experience, I hope you could make me regret.

  • +5

    Hello Rep.

Thanks for staying around to answer questions.

However, I noticed that you have not answered what could be the most important question

Once the item is sent to us, if we discover it isn't anywhere close to 9200mah, will you give instant refund without us sending the item back?

As has been stated. We can not send the item back if it is either faulty, or not as described, because Australia doesn't allow any mailing of items containing a Lithium Battery.

So, please reply to this question Rep.

    • Be realistic… There are enough dishonest people to drive vendor broke, ie, by happily receiving the product & then claiming it doesn't work (demanding refund).

The best way is for some brave soul - in AU - to do a deal with vendor, eg, to take a large number [on consignment], maybe test some randomly selected samples & ship them within AU. More costly for us (since that brave heart will need a margin to make it worth the risk & their time.)

      Hpw else?

      • >

        I am.

Be realistic… There are enough dishonest people to drive vendor broke, ie, by happily receiving the product & then claiming it doesn't work (demanding refund).

So, there should not be a warranty?

Just how will they ship them? By road, correct? How much will this cost per device? They should be signed for on delivery. How much do they weight? More than 250grams?

        Hpw else?

        Huh?

  • website is down

    • Not for me…

  • Output current is rather high (2.1A). Can this be adjusted?

    • High current (amps) are OK. High voltage isn't. At least in this application.

    • That's a max current value.

    • Read this
The 2.1A is outside normal USB specification, but provided most likely for tablets, etc

    • There are 2 usb ports, if 2.1A is too high you can use the 1A port.

    • +2

Your device plugged into this will only draw the amount of current that it wants. It could supply 100Amps and that would still be fine to plug your phone into.

I fell for a similar thing last year: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109348

That seller was an absolute pain to deal with. Would advise against buying.

    • is this place dodge?

if you read the comments (specifically my earlier comments) you will see this place is indeed at the very least a bit dodgy…

I ordered from them two of these. They took the money and haven't delivered.

you do realise these are not an australian company? these will be shipped from no doubt china which can take anything up to a month to deliver?
