$19.97 Mastergrip 190 Piece Set (Similar to Dremel) Costco - Members Only

110

Hi all, Costco have further reduced the price of this rotary tool. Same tool as in this ozbargain https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118035

As notedby Doperst in that bargain, the few reviews on Amazon generally aren't too complimentary. However, given the price on Amazon is US$32.33 plus postage, at under twenty bucks it seems like good value. The cheapest price I can find on Ebay is around $80 shipped (and then you'd have to worry about the voltage).

If you did want to spend more, Bunnings sell an Ozito with a flexible shaft and a 218 piece kit for $39.95.

I bought one, I'll try it out over the weekend and put an update in the comments.

Spotted in Costco Docklands - unsure of other stores.

  • I have the ozito one from Bunnings and its nothing flash

    • Yeah? I'm pretty sure the one I have is Ozito and I don't see much difference between it and the dremel I used to use at work. Does everything I want it to do.

      • I bought the ozito one a while ago, overall shit build quality…maybe i just got a bad one? But just wish i got the real thing in the end. Ive learnt not to skimp on tools

  • Cool, I will goto costco tomorrow to check it out.
Was looking at getting a dremel, but cant justify yhr cost considereing I have no idea what I will use it for.

    • I'm in the same boat - it's not like I have a particular job I bought it for, but I'm sure now that I'll have it I'll make some use of it.
If you're handy you might want to check out their drill bits, rigger's gloves and clamp sets. I thought they all seemed well priced. I bought three pairs of riggers gloves for about $24 - they seem like much better quality than the equivalent Bunnings Craftright ones (which tore the day I bought them!)

Here are the reviews on Amazon for anyone curious. http://www.amazon.com/Mastergrip-190pc-Rotary-Tool-Accessory… 2.4/5 stars…

The only +ve reviews sound like they have yet to use it… The -ve reviews suggest best to save up for something that works…

I have the ozito that I only use occasionally for relatively light duties. It works ok for these for my purposes but you can tell it's not very made made. You definitely would not want to use it on a daily basis nor consistently on tougher jobs.

What? The reviews are bad but it's cheap so it's good? brain melts

    • There are only five reviews, all from users rather than professional reviewers, so it's hardly a large sample size to draw on. And if you don't like the unit or aren't happy with it, you can always take it back. My guess is it depends what you want it for, but as I say I'll try to get some use out of it over the weekend and update.

    I bought one last year…

only got one use out of it..

the dremel part wouldn't tighten(chuck) so the whole top bit just spun around the whole time…

dangerous too, sometimes the spinning part would fly off.. and yes i followed the cheap instructions… :|

maybe someone else will have better luck. but id stay clear, and save the money for a better one..

Sounds similar to the Amazon reviews

    • Did it come with expensive instructions? :P

I bought the ozito and the same thing happens, the bit would spin in the tightened part. Need to use a visegrip to tighten.

      • problem is… tightening, just oversheared it? ie it just keeeps tighetning, then at a certain point becomes loose again..

        • Does it have 2 different jaw sizes like the Dremel? Are you using the correct jaw size?

  • Got 3 Dremel tools I have picked up from Cash Converters all for about $20-45 each. Normally come with some bits.
Better a second hand Dremel than a crap no name crappy crap crap that you will regret.

And then buy this one for the additional bits…….

these are junk, do not buy, buy a dremel, the heads wear out easy and when all your heads are finished, guess what? you can't buy replacements :)

    • Don't Dremel bits fit? Most of these poor man's Dremels use the same shank sizes as a Dremel.

  • where is the best place to buy a [new] dremel?

  • Interesting. I already own a Dremel but I voted up anyway because this is about half the price of it at it's original price. And, being from Costco, if it does turn out to be rubbish you just take it back any time for a full refund.
