  • Hmmm, interesting product. Bit confused about how it works though - after reading the instructions, it sounds like it turns on/off opposite to the light switch it's plugged in to. Eg: if I have this plugged in to my kitchen area and I turn off the lights, this will turn on? If so, I guess you'd need this plugged in to a separate lamp or something?

    Instructions for use

Leave the switch on DC at all times
The light switch (on your wall) being in the ON position will cause the bulb to be OFF (and charge)
The light switch being in the OFF position will cause the bulb to be ON
A power cut will be the same as switching the switch off, meaning the bulb will turn ON
The remote will work as designed
If you want to leave the bulb on for an extended period of time (hours), flick the switch on the bulb to AC in which case it will just use the power from the light socket

  • generally referred to as a torch :)

At lest you wont have to go hunting to it after the kids have been playing with it only to find the batteries are flat

Girl in pic is bizarrely happy about a light bulb

    Brightness?

    • Probably not very bright, but when the power is out for blocks around you… I had a 20W emergency flouro installed in the hall of mother's house and it managed to supply enough light to move around in the whole house without trouble.

By the specs… probably not bright
      4.0 V / 0.6 AH operating for Approx. 8 hours
gives average available power of 300mW max

      • Ugh. 0.3W? That's about 15 lumen, assuming 50 lumen/watt. My torch is an order of magnitude brighter than that.

  • Sounds like a decent product but the last time the owner went out I can't even remember, and not that I have 15 hrs of battery life on my laptop I probably don't care
