Virgin Atlantic Christmas Sale Flights to Hong Kong $1349

30

Sydney to Hong Kong 9th Dec to 15th Jan for $1349 pp + taxes

Like my previous HotelClub.com deal, again I know it's not the best deal ever (esp compared to the recent Air Asia Deal)! However, for Peak Season travel to Hong Kong this deal is not a bad one at all. If you visit other travel websites or the airline website directly, you would notice this fare is selling for $1900 to $2017 per person incl taxes so $1349 + less than $200 taxes = apx $1549 - that represents a saving of atleast $350pp!!

Like myself, overseas students from Hong Kong requiring a flight back home during peak season, this is a bargain for a direct flight with a decent airline!

This link was sent to me by subscribing to their eseacruising.com newsletter, they are launching Costa Asia cruises in the coming weeks via their database and this is a bonus deal which does NOT need to be combined with a cruise, but a $100 Gift Voucher towards a Costa cruise is emailed to you once you book a flight!!

I booked myself on this morning leaving 19th December and returning 16th January 2010 for $1547.30 yesterday. Slow process because you can't check availability online, however for savings of a few hundered dollars, why not! Submit the form and then a consultant calls you back within 24 hours!

  • Seems a bit strange to me, in this day and age of the internet we cannot check availability on flights? are they gathering details for a marketing database?

Also - bit concerning about the terms and conditions - no rewards points, no credit card payments and these two lines:

Changes are permitted at any time for a charge of AUD 300. At any time the fare is non refundable.
Fare not guaranteed until payment is made and accepted.

    Thoughts?

    • I think by "Changes", it means by you, not the airline. The rest sounds fair enough, but if you couldn't fly on your original time slot, you can only use the amount as a credit, plus $300, and then adjusting to whatever the fare will be on your next booking.

  • Personally I don't consider this to be a bargain at all. You can quite easily get a return ticket to Hong Kong for ~$1,550 (incl. tax) for travelling during X'mas time if you don't mind spending few more hours on the flight. At least these tickets give you the flexibility to change the date of departure for free if you need to.
