      i find i use the ones i have from this deal more often. the ones you linked are much bigger and brighter but bigger and brighter arent always what you want. these small torches are still amazingly bright even when run on rechargeable AA batteries which is what ive always run mine on and fit small spaces and easily into your pocket.
      
      i guess this is part of the reason why once people get 1 or 2 cree torches they inevitably end up with a draw full of them…. they each have there own use :)

Mine went through and cost $2.18 AUD.

I didn't change any currency or anything. I'm happy with this, the last torches I bought like these were $3.80 and $4.09.

EDIT: Actually that $2.18 may have been USD, my bad. Just bought another and used AUD, it came to $2.38 AUD. I think as someone mentioned above, using USD ends up costing around $2.55 ish.

Why don't any of these type of torches switch straight into strobe mode? I hate when I need to switch to kryptonite (a Kick-ass reference), you need to go through the on-off-bright modes to get to it, giving away your position to the bad guys. I know they make proper/expensive military/police versions of this but I need a budget version for my part-time superhero adventures.

P.S. I also need a Hit-Girl outfit in men's 5XL.

  What 14500 batteries and chargers are people using? I've been using my eneloops up to now but as my collection of torches grow it's probably time I make the switch. I see batteries + chargers are cheap on eBay but I'm happy to spend a few dollars more on quality, memories of BTY batteries years ago are still burnt into my memory.

    im currently using cheap 18650 and charger i got from banggood in my bigger torch, as of yet no fires but i do worry about charging them, im sure its a case of when they catch fire not if. this is part of the reason i use AA's in these little torches and havnt moved to a 14500 yet (if ever), can leave them on charge safely with no risk of them bursting into flames.
    
    if your going to use 14500's id probably look at not getting them from ebay/cheap chinese places and spend the extra to make sure you get genuine protected cells with a decent charger.

      One of my orders has gone into shipping status, whilst the others are still in processing.
      
      Give it some time, probably best to not expect any updates to it at least a week, then expect another couple weeks for delivery.

Good torch, but I noticed the build quality for these cree's Q5 differ. I bought 2 from the Zingy deal, and one felt pretty HQ and the other of different lower quality.

If anyone is interested, I can post my findings between the two and post up pics as well of the beam.
The beam is slightly different too, need a photo to show it though.

      Yes the torch was advertised as generic 5-mode but a generic 3-mode was delivered - you could claim "significantly not as described".

      The led chip layout is on a "cree" "JGY" PCB.
      Cree don't make these.
      The PCB the 3 mode drivers are mounted on also have unique markings relative to the unique operation where these are produced.
      I'm not saying its not a good knockoff but I am saying I purchased a 5 mode as advertised and i received a 3 mode without the strobe feature i wanted and paid for.

      Yes i have and i was told they made a mistake and the 3 mode should have read 5 mode and it was a typing error with the numbers…
      (And considering the description listed 2 extra modes, "SOS & Medium", id say they are being a bit dodgy and selling items under a different title to get more sales)
      
      Unfortunately too many people just say oh well it was $X amount and it wasn't much,.. But I say if you advertise a cree Q5 torch with 5 modes and take my money, then give me what i paid for.

      What I'd rather mate, would be the 5 mode torch I paid for. Not a 3 mode!
      SOS function was the selling point for me, and is what was advertised.
      I purchased a 5 mode cree Q5 led torch, and if i get a 3 mode Cree torch instead I'll open a dispute for the OP to either refund or send the item i paid for.
      I suggest to all, who want what was purchased to do the same.
