SanDisk 32GB Extreme USB 3.0 245mb/s @ MLN (VIC) $34.86 (Free Pickup or $9 Postage)

130

Was trolling the MLN site, came across this sleeper. It's the new SanDisk extreme USB 3.0 flash drive with 245mb/s
Office works has the slower extreme for $73.97 and that's the 190mps version which is the same one MSY has for $43 and pc case gear has it for $49 all only go to 190mps and their shipping is $11 vs MLN for $9 plus each additional item at MLN is $4.50. Also MLN has no PayPal fees whereas the other charge.
Faster and cheaper at MLn

I don't think there's such a thing as a new 245MB/s version of this drive. Even in the description on MLN, it says 190MB/s and the model number on MLN is exactly the same as this one:

    http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Flash-Drive-SDCZ80-032…

No mention of new 245Mb/s model on SanDisk website either:

    http://www.sandisk.com.au/products/usb/drives/extreme/?capac…

Good price though. iiBuy is cheaper if you require delivery ($4.95 shipping, to my house in Melbourne at least):

  • Damn this is too long for my vehicle usb port where it sit at the arm rest.

    • SanDisk Cruzer Fit.

      • Thanks, that is one damn small usb but I like the speed of this one.
I will go to MLN and measure whether it will fit.

        • Or how about a short extension cord? I assume that's their only purpose.

        • Great idea, it has not occurs to me. It will definitely works.

        • I seriously doubt whatever car stereo you've got, that its USB controller is going to be able to read any faster from a better-specced USB drive and that you're going to notice the difference searching through folders and so forth. They're not built with read/write access times in mind and they don't need to be when they're playing MP3's.

    • your car has a USB 3.0 port ? @@

      • It has a usb2 but my pc has usb3. All my mp3 are 320 bits rating and I have a large collection which I updated regularly.

Here are photos of the new 245MB/s version.

    • I'm just picking myself up off the floor. That is FAST!!

    • I'm kind of inclined to the take the word of SanDisk's own website rather than a page of hieroglyphics with some unsubstantiated photos of something that could easily be an Asian fake.

Besides, the write speed is still identical to the old Extreme.

      • Well the package says 245, the speed I am testing it days 243. The difference with MLN and shoppingexpress is that they are not Asian. I bought shopping express SanDisk drives before they have all Asian writing all over it. Not that it matters the language. But from my packaging I can tell the MLN stock is Aussie

        • If you go to the US Sandisk site you can see this under the product specification:
          Product Numbers

          Europe/Asia-Pacific/Latin America/Middle East and Africa
          SDCZ80-016G-A46 - 16GB SDCZ80-016G-G46 - 16GB
          SDCZ80-032G-A46 - 32GB SDCZ80-032G-G46 - 32GB
          SDCZ80-064G-A46 - 64GB SDCZ80-064G-G46 - 64GB

          Australia/New Zealand
          SDCZ80-016G-C46 - 16GB SDCZ80-016G-Q46 - 16GB
          SDCZ80-032G-C46 - 32GB SDCZ80-032G-Q46 - 32GB
          SDCZ80-064G-C46 - 64GB SDCZ80-064G-Q46 - 64GB

The model number on MLN match the Europe/Asia-Pacific/Latin America/Middle East and Africa not the Australia/New Zealand one. It's no wonder why people can't find information about it on the Australian Sandisk website.

  • Why were you trolling the MLN site? That is not a very nice thing to do.

    • I would rather know how you troll a website.

By going through every link etc

The word you're looking for is trawl - like a fishing trawler.

I think the 245mb/s is the read speed. 190mb/s is the normal write speed.

anyway, it's cheaper from shopping square if you have no access to pick up.

    $37.95 + $1 shipping (to sydney)

I didn't realise it was USB drive week here at OzBargain….

    • +1

It's always USB drive week here at OzBargain….

  • I bought from MLN, it's 245

I also emailed SanDisk. They said they have not updated there on website yet as the product is so new.

It's legit. I am using one.

Are you affiliated with MLN? I mean you gave the impression you were just randomly looking through the website, now you say you've had the product for days… Every one of your previous deals are from MLN… You've put an expiry on this deal of 28/2 - where did this come from? I don't see on the website that this is a limited time deal that expires then…

      • I think he is just a rather bias poster. But i report it to the mod anyway. Let them decide since they have more way of investigating than us.

      • I made the expiry up I don't know how to set a normal date. There wasn't one listed.

      • I did apply for a job there. Hopefully I get it. Have an interview lined up.if I get the job there. I'll click the affiliated with MLN option. Fingers crossed

  • Sorry to disappoint all those non-believers that a 245MB/s version exists but here's one that I'm using right now and let me tell you… it's BLOODY FAST!!!

on your image, is the write speed printed as 100 MB/s ?

      • Indeed LOL

      • Correct coz I got the 32GB version which is most likely what anyone else will get if they get this deal.

The reference to 190 MB/s write is only for the 64GB version I believe.

        • +1

Good to know. It actually has a slower write speed than the old 32GB version:

          http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab14/supreme9999/USB%20De…

        • That's interesting. Wonder why that is…

        • -1

Cause it is asian imported product, that is why.

        • And your proof that the non-Asian version is faster… ??

        • 100 MB/s(new 245 MB/s Read) .vs. 110 MB/s(old 190 MB/s Read)

these are "up to" speed anyway, it doesn't mean it will constantly write at 110 MB/s

  • hope they have the 64GB deal, it's the 190 MB/s write version…. :-)

  • got two - thanks rep. very fast little things.

  • its showing $56 for me.
