  • So… what's a good buy?

    • +8

      Est. Shipping: AU$21.35

for a mouse pad, I'm guessing things will only be worth it if you can spend >125 for free shipping

      • +3

Each customer/shipping destination is allowed to place only one (1) order with a maximum of two (2) items, and not more than one (1) unit of each product.

  • +1

Can someone post the code so we don't have to go through the FB and twitter crap

    • From what I can see it's personalised codes. I haven't been able to use mine because it says invalid promo code (I probably did something wrong lol).

      • Code only works on peripherals and systems. Comes up invalid otherwise.

        • Yeah I know, it was invalid for me because the deal had not started yet (silly me).

    • It's "unique" doe.

  • +2

    Each code is unique,
ONLY for Gaming Peripherals and Razer Systems, does not work for me on keyboards, mice and mouse pads.
    Postage was $22!
    No deal for me.

    • +6

Keyboards, mice, and mouse pads are peripherals, are they not?

      • +5

        Xzibit y'all!!

Yo dawg, I heard you like a sale on computer peripherals, so we made a sale on the peripherals of the peripherals so you could have a sale and not a sale.

        • Why are people negging this? I thought it was hilarious!

    • The deal have not started yet mate. It will work on mice and keyboard as they are peripherals.

    • Deal doesn't start till 2:30am tomorrow Adelaide time I believe. I'll check then if the code works on keyboards and might consider buying a mechanical.

      • -3

Mechanical? Why would you want tech so old.

        • Mechanical keyboards last longer than membrane keyboards, don't need "anti-ghosting" features either. Read up buddy.

  • is it unique or not?

mine has a 33 in it?

    • mine doesnt have a 33 in it, so i assume theyre unique

    • +5

Mine has a 33 in it too! Tell me your entire code via private message so we can compare…

      • +2

        Nice try

  • +2

Deal doesn't start till 8 AM PST time on January 15th, so I assume the codes wont be in use till then. more info available at the the promo T&C's http://www.razerzone.com/ces-2014-appreciation-terms-and-con… So Basically deal will start at early tomorrow early morning due to time differences.

    • +1

yeah youre right, the deal isnt active yet, it will begin at: 12am WST or 3am EDST

  • +1

    Starts midnight WST.

Codes are unique to each user.

It's gonna be pretty hard to get free ship on just 2 items. Say mouse 100, pad 35, that qualifies for free ship, apply 50% and you tack back on 22 shipping so not a great deal.

  • +2

Not so great of a deal really.. looking at the listed prices even if you were to get 50% off you will most likely have to pay shipping… you will find you can purchase locally for the same price or less.

I think the only way you might get something cheaper is you were to spend over $125 and still i dont think its as great.

    • +2

If youre interested in headphones it is, take the Razer Tiamat 7.1 for example which is $299.95 - 50% = $149.97 which is $30 less than any retailer according to staticice

      • -7
        • shipping making it less than 10$ cheaper and losing Local warranty!
        • +9

free shipping on orders over $125

        • +1

          Pwned

        • With local warranty?

The last time I purchased a Razer Mamba like this, warranty problems added another 50% on the original price so I like to buy local where possible.

    • looking at the razer BW keyboards and locally can get them about $15 more than the sale price locally. not really worth it to lose local warranty

  • +4

their RRP prices rape you vs. USD.

E.g. $249 USD for a DeathStalker Ultimate keyboard which retails in their AU store for $400 AUD.

Nothing near 50% off, but still cheaper than current prices and below static ice. $258 is lowest price there, so you're saving $58 a bit over 20%

Another example.. Tiamat headset — $200 USD, $300 AUD, $185 Static ice — another marginal savings not near 50%

  • +6

For an average deal this is flying up with the + votes

    • I jumped into this deal expecting some incredible bargain based on the number of positive votes.
      Moving along now.

  • The Razer Kraken Forged Edition look sexy and seem like a good deal at $200 if the code works, Amazon are $299.99, cheapest(only) on staticice are $397. The reviews are mixed though Destructoid CustomPCReview, has anyone had any experience with them?

  • I tried to order a razer atrox but always get invalid promo code

    • +2

Deal is active at 12am WST or 3am EDST 16th of Jan.

      • ok didnt even notice USA time zones.

    • +1

      edit: Beaten ^

  • +2

I wanted to get the Hammerhead Pro and Sabertooth and total was $124.95… (flips table)

    • +2

You could buy the rubber analog grips for $4 more, you can get cheaper ones on eBay for $1 but at least the razer official ones look like they provide full pad grip rather than just a ring of studs around the pad

      • That's a good idea mate, thanks for the tip.

        • +3

What about the mess of the table you made now?

        • Yeah it wasn't worth it.

        • +2

Max of two items per order with the code, sorry to ruin your day.

        • +3

          Table shall remain flipped.

  • Razer, stopped making the salmosa, stopped making the exactmat. So they no longer have products I'm interested in.
Purchased spares of both years ago sadly.

    • Exactmat was a good product. Nothing like putting it under an ultrabook and using it as a heatsync.

    • +3

I read that as Samosa; damnit.. now I'm hungry.

  • +7

Their razer store prices are ridiculous, half price brings it down to regular price.

  • -1

Yeah this is really expensive even with 50% off, go to CPL if you want Razer gear

    • +2

How do you figure? a random choice of ouroboros shows as $125 on CPL and $100 with the 50% discount during this promotion

      • +$22 shipping is the thing, if you are doing a big order it's slightly better though.

  • So did anyone get the code to work? I tried to use mine but it said invalid =\

    • +1

      Deal has not started yet.

  • +2

Hopefully I can get my hands on the Evil Geniuses gear with the discount.

  • +1

I agree only a bargain for some items, mostly expensive ones.

Tempted to get a Blackwidow Ultimate $115

    • -5

Why on earth would you buy that gimmicky abomination? It's the equivalent of buying a keyboard from Kmart in terms of mechanical keyboards, except you pay the same price as a proper mech keyboard.

      • Awful build quality
      • Low quality keycaps
      • Low quality printing
      • Cherry MX Blue switches
      • Low quality internal parts
      • +1

What do you suggest? Corsair, Ducky, DAS?

I actually like blue switches $115 is quite cheap for backlit blue switches

        • honestly im using a ducky atm with mx red switches, it is a glorious thing and i wouldnt swap it for anything else

        • Ducky's are good for value. Personally I don't favor Razer keyboards that much, their mouses are good though.

        • Value or quality? Ducky are $150 backlit.

I have an old Blackwidow 1st gen still going strong for 4 years. I just want another mechanical for work.

      • I have to agree with you.

      • +1

I've had the BlackWidow Ultimate since it's 2010 release; build quality is amazing and it hasn't skipped a beat. Surprisingly none of my letter keys have worn off.

      • I bought the 2013 Ultimate, and it feels nice, but I regret not getting a Das/Ducky, I don't like how the plastic is flexible. And you're right, it seems just like a gimmicky keyboard.

      • +1

I'm rocking Cherry MX Blues as I write this, and loving it. Yes they're noisy, by design, but some people like that.

        • I don't like the Blue switches, sounds like I'm using a typewriter. Cherry Browns master race!

    • If you can't use a keyboard without it been mechanical, I would suggest a console. I've seen many X-Box units advertised one FB Selling groups for $115.

Or you could try something like a G19.

  • +2

    7miuhjt64

Code for someone who wants it, nothing i want and they don't sell just replacement cables for the Mamba, not looking to buy another one, as i want to get away from razer but can't afford the Logitech G700s atm

  • Are the razer headphones any good/value for money? Or should I go for another brand

    • As i said up im interested to know what the kraken forged are like, the reviews are mixed but on the whole fairly positive, interested to see if the code works with them coz if it does its a great deal

    • For value, it's almost always better to get separate headphones and mic.

    • +1

The Razer Kraken 7.1 is a pretty good headphone for $85.

      http://www.razerzone.com/au-en/store/razer-kraken-71

      • I bought my Kraken 7.1 for that price, they are very nice. Good audio quality. I wanted the Logitech wireless ones, but I didn't want all the driver issues on Windows 7….

    • i had carcharias
they are very comfortable and sound is fine for the price
so on sale i think they ok if u want to have a microphone
i duno how much shipping costs tho

  • I was excited until I read some of the comments in here.

    Cheers.

  • I don't mean to sound negative, but what is the quality like on the razer products?
I have heard that the blackwidow keyboards break pretty quickly, although the mice are apparently very good.

    • Lol you heard wrong, blackwidows are great keyboards and they provide (imo) one of the best mechanical keyboard experience. I've had mine for over a year now and it's still going strong. I'm not sure about other razer products so I can't comment on their quality but a lot of my friends have had the razer orca for ages.

      • +2

Sweet, good to know that I'm wrong. I'm a big fan of their esports push and sponsorships throughout the years.

        • But if you are after a budget gaming keyboard I suggest logitech. I used one before i switched to razer and they were pretty sweet.

        • I would suggest a Das/Ducky. I have a BW2013Ultimate and i regret not going for a Das/Ducky, but as my first mechanical keyboard I wanted something that looked nice and was east to get a hold of without waiting for shipping. But if I had the choice again I would go for a Das.

        • +3

I have the quiet das keyboard (red switch) at home and absolutely love it. Then I go to work and spend 11 hours typing on a piece of shit getting angry all day at how terrible everything is, and how sore my forearms are.

To remedy, I've just committed to a ducky brown so I can take the das to work and be known as the douchebag who brings his own shiny keyboard.

        • Same here. Ducky with brown switches at home, such a nice typing keyboard.
Then in to work and use a POS… might by another for tax time

      • +2

You bought a mechanical keyboard and you're impressed it still works after a year? Personally I think they should last at least 5.

    • +2

generally razor keyboards don't have a great rep, they have had a bit of a history of having problems

    • The first time I got my Blackwidow it took only a week for it to start malfunctioning after I got it replaced it's been going strong for 2 years, but you should know if you get double tapping keys to just clean keyboard because it's a common occurrence with mechanical keyboards. I also got the ouroboros mouse, which after a while has started making an irritating squeak each time I click. I would say the quality of the product isn't the greatest, but it's still somewhat decent, although I probably won't buy Razer gear ever again though.

  • the prices on the razer store are alot higher than you can find elsewhere so it only ends up being like 20% off

when i add shipping it ends up about the same price
there is free shipping over $125 though

  • Eh at the listed prices the mech keyboards arnt really that much off. $150 for the tournament edition is redic, you can get it at $80-90 normal price

  • I was shopping for a new mouse and xbox/pc controller, the Razer Sabertooth and DeathAdder were high on my list. Unfortunately, even with 40% off the prices on the Razer site are RRP, and compared to local street prices (PCCASEGEAR and MWAVE) it comes to about the same price in the end (about $140 for both), so this isn't such a great deal, for me anyway.

    • Oops, not sure why 40% was in my head when it's actually 50%, ends up being a good deal, about $30 cheaper than PCCG/MWAVE for those two items.

  • another code for someone who wants one
    43dzohxgy

    • Here is my code, since I won't be buying anything.

      2ygy4muij

  • Not a deal at all, Razer products are generally overpriced to begin with, then they ridiculously bump up the prices on the AU store compared to the US store, then you have to pay shipping. (Unless over $125)You will probably find the price cheaper at computer shops like msy.

In Australia the only decently priced gaming gear imo are logitech g series from DSE or Logitechshop. Like the g230 headset RRP is $90 but is only $45 with express shipping from lts

edit: for example, the deathadder is $90 before shipping and dicounts yet you can buy it for $49 at centrecom

  • won't be buying anything, not a good deal. heres my code frbvfgoza

  • +1

    No deal:
    Razor Deathadder:
    US store $69.99 = AUD $78
Aussie store $89.99, you get ripped off $11.
    50% off + postage: $45 + $22 = $67
    Local store $54.

  • For anyone thinking about getting the Blackwidow mechanical keyboards, it seems like all versions of the keyboard are listed as available as "3-4 weeks"

I'm going to interpret this as on backorder, which violates the T&Cs: "This promotion does not apply to extended warranties, products on pre-order, back-order or products that are out of stock."

Shame, could have been worth it if spent enough to get the free shipping.

  • Expired!

  • Synapse makes me cry!

Was considering a Deathstalker Ultimate for shits and giggles, but they don't have any in stock. Here's my code anyways, xm7otvrhm.

  • sold out in seconds

  • +2

Ugh, Razer sucks! Wanted to get two items, but I guess Razer doesn't really want to sell items, just get some marketing hype. By the time I got to the checkout due to filling out the lengthy form, they told me that the second of the items was sold out. Then I removed that item and added a similar one, and this time when I got to the checkout the first item was sold out.

"We're sorry but Razer Naga Epic is currently out of stock and cannot be added to your basket. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Well, looks like I now hate Razer and will surely purchase a different brand for the years to come due to this unsavory experience…

  • Bunch of whingers, you lot.
