It just keeps dropping.. If it's $39 here, surely one of the websites will do $29.99 soon.

  • I agree $29.99 incoming!

  • $19.95 platinum!

    • +2

Disappointingly, it's called 'Essentials' now, with an equally disappointing cover art design :'(

      • +1

The disappointing cover design is kinda the point. They dont want people to wait then purchase it for less.

      • I don't understand how you can think essentials is the equal of platinum, I'd rather buy second hand than have a platinum cover, it's like they were punishing you for not buying the game during its first production run!

    • +3

      Some people bought a PS4

    • +5
      • Evolutionary step from last game
      • next gen has arrived
      • Forza 5

Still a great game but not much new.

    • -1

They've been recycling the same game, with minor tweaks for over a decade and I do mean minor.
People are sick of it, hence the incredibly low sales.

    • Because it's really not particularly good compared to other AAA racing games.
I picked it up on the weekend hoping for some improvements over GT5 that would bring it up to par with Forza 4.
Still has terrible AI, still uses ridiculous default controller layout, still doesn't let you use the right joystick to look around and behind you, still doesn't actually give benefits to using manual over auto transmission, still terrible sound…
I was hoping to like this one a lot more than 5, but it's still terrible.
      GT1-3 were so awesome. it's such a shame :(

      • Really?

I have not bought it yet, but I pay GT5 about 5 times a week (at the moment), and I have played GT6 at a friends house, and I have to say, their tyre model has improved A LOT. I have heard good things about the aero model too, but have not experienced it as yet.

There are issues with the game though, like once you get a wheel off the ground, which is quite easy… Don't get me started.

        Onto the points you raised:

"Still has terrible AI" I can't comment on this
"still uses a ridiculous default controller layout" How can this be a bad point of a game??! Change it! I don't see how that argument is at all valid. A game should not be judged on how good it's default button layout is.
"still doesn't let you use the right joystick to look around and behind you" Doesn't bother me, but I guess I can see the validity of this argument, to a small extent. Seems a bit clutching at straws for me though. Cos you just just use the D-pad to look in all directions instead.
"still doesn't actually give benefits to using the manual over auto transmission" I am not sure what you mean by this. Are you suggesting that you should be given a 'boost' or something for using the manual trans? or a penalty for using the auto trans? Either way, I always use MT, so I guess it doesn't bother me or make a difference to me, so I can't understand the motivation or reasoning behind your argument. But, I feel I have better control over the vehicle in MT, which inspires confidence, and therefore allows you to go faster.

        • The tyre model has improved a lot in the sense that now they actually have one, but it's still a long way behind other games in the genre like Forza. In GT6 tyres still essentially just act like a grip multiplier.

It's dropping because it's not selling. When a first party game sells well the company always has a media release saying "game x sold y million copies in its first z days of sale". There has been no such release from Sony or Polyphony Digital.

GT6 was never going to sell anywhere near as well as 5. 5 ruined the series for a LOT of people, myself included. Disappointing in nearly every way, much of which was hidden until the games release. Then there's the fact that it released on PS3 a week after the PS4 came out. Maybe I speak for myself, but I don't generally buy many previous-generation games after the consoles successor is out.

      • They also announced GT7 for the PS4 before GT6 was even out.

  • any big difference compared to GT5?

    • +17

They put a '6' on the box
      http://i.imgur.com/nxxun6w.jpg

      • I WAS ENLIGHTENED XD

    • Its smoother different way to earn credits, improved menu. Extra cars and tracks.

    • +2

I think so, i bought 5 and was over it about half an hr.

however im addicted to 6. very fun

  • Any deals on the 15th Anniversary Edition? Is it worth getting over the standard edition?

    • No not really , all it gives you is a whole bunch of cars and a steel cover

  • Gee even cheaper than the Harvey Norman $44 offer. This game must have tanked in sales.

  • What's the difference between this GT6 and GT5? Except for the number?

I haven't finished with GT5 unsure if its worth getting GT6…its coming out too fast like browser versions.

    More blurry in GT6? http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Gran-Turismo-6-Graphics-Dow…

  • First GT I played extensively was GT5, and really enjoyed it. Thought the sounds were average, but supposedly they were a lot better?

If so, can't wait to see if 7 has any improvement.

    • -1

Definitely wait for gt7, gt6 is very bland

      • For $40? You'd wait a year or so for gt7? You'll also need a ps4.

        • I bought the anniversary edition on release, gt6 has made me wonder, that i have played just about enough gran turismo.

  • COTD were just selling it at the same price but you had to pay shipping and its sold out.

    • LOL typical people think tis cheaper always on COTD

      • ikr. It's the sad truth.

  • +2

So the question is do we wait or buy at this price.

I had GT5 Prologue only, so was pretty keen top get a hold of GT6 - I'm really enjoying it, if only for the Bathurst track. Disabling all the traction control, ABS, highspeed steering etc makes it a lot of fun.

    • +1

That's what I did with a 1989 Toyota Supra :D Drifting was a lot of fun.

  • 6 is a worthy upgrade over 5. I'd say the main reason it hasn't sold as well so far is the PS4 release.

The "career progression" is better than 5, but its also missing a number of things that 5 introduced (like b spec, which personally I hated)

You can pay real money for in game credits, which I dislike, but they don't seem to have overly slowed your earning ability, forcing you to buy anything.

They have had a couple of content updates already, and more are scheduled. As it stands, its not as big a game as what GT5 was, but whats there is quality, and definitely worth $40.

    • I'd say 6 is more what 5 should've been on release than a worthy upgrade.

  • +2

    ordered on from DS. Thanks

    • Yeah. Listen to the stig

  • Plus 5 is getting shut down soon…. 6 or nothing!

  • +2

I wouldn't buy this from dicksmith if it was $20, Well after my recent dicksmith experience and their lack of customer service. Dicksmith like to take your money and not deliver, so you have to becareful dealing with companies like them. :)

    • What happened?

      • +1

My online order was shipped according to ds, sent me a consignment number but the item wasn't received by star track. ds kept claiming star track received the item and kept emailing me the same consign no. over and over, Star track couldn't do nothing until ds gave them permission to investigate it. ds finally admitted they were at fault and the item never left their warehouse, they promised me they'd resend out that day and email me new consign no. They never resent item or emailed me details about order, so I recontacted them via email and they ignored my messages. Spent another hour plus on hold waiting to speak to real person, then they inform me they no longer have stock and its on back order.. Checked on their website, found stock still available instore but not my local store, so I emailed pointing out there was stock they could send me. Then I got this reply:

        "
Thank you for taking the time to email Dick Smith Online.

In regards to your enquiry, we would like to inform you that we are experiencing a delay to fulfill your order due to technical difficulties.

Please be advised that we have fixed the problem and we are now processing your order.

We will inform you the outcome as soon as possible.

        We apologise for any inconvenience.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via email if you have any further enquiries."

I now have asked for a refund, and they continue to spam me this exact message. Even the likes of kogan ain't that bad ime.

        • That's terrible.

Imagine being able to deal with a business that if things go pear shaped you could actually speak to the owner of the business.

      Same here.

I bought the Pioneer HTP072 Surround Sound System from them on Dec 12, guaranteed delivery by Christmas. Christmas came and went, spent ~2 hours over 6-7 calls on hold to try and get through to them to find out where it was and never even got to talk to a person, then when I finally got through they said there had been a mistake and the order never went through to dispatch. So they did it manually for me while I waited on the phone.

A week and a half go by and again, nothing. Another half hour on hold, they finally answer and tell me they're out of stock and will refund me in 4-5 working days! It was almost a month to the day from when I originally ordered it at that stage. Absolutely pathetic, and I will never buy from their online store again.

      • ordered online and picked up in store..it's the best way..

  • EB Games have buy Gran Turismo 6 for $49.95 and get dual shock 3 controller for $50 atm

Thanks OP.. Much better than my cotd post, picked on up and with 10% discount came to $37.00 roughly

Once you get the game, perform the $20 million cheat =] i've tried this on my anniversary edition of the game and it worked a treat. You max out at $20 million so best to spend most of it and do it again.

    1. Go into Vision GT and buy the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo
    2. Save the game
    3. Go to Game Data Utility and delete the 1.01 patch.
    4. Reload the game but skip the prompt to download the patch
    5. Find your new Merc in the garage (which will now be called [2055])and sell it.The price should show as something weird likee 333,993,856 CR but finally appear as 20 million once the transaction’s gone through.
    6. Repeat

If you weren't so ignorant, you'd know that the latest update is 1.03, launching fresh you can either stay on 1.0 (not recommended) or update to 1.03. You can not update to any updates before the latest. Obviously patched. This honestly could potentially ruin the experience for some players too, some people like myself actually play the game and enjoy the progression, even if it's slow, buying a shit car to make money to buy a slightly less shit car eventually making your way to your dream car.

  • Could do with the ps4 version!

  • OK those who have played GT6. does it have a good LAN play setup?
I've got 2x PS3's and 2x G27's and there are bugger all good racing games for LAN play.

Saw the $44 GT6's in Gerry's bargain bin today. That said, got mine delivered today from DSE. Thanks OP!

  • GT6 is $35 at Cosco (Casula)
