Decent price, but be aware there is a new version out - the m50x - with improved earpads and detachable cable. The earpads on the old model harden and crack really quickly.

      Thanks for the info steve.

    • Hmm, I've had mine over a year and no signs of hardening or cracking yet. No doubt it differs due to level of use and fluctuating storage temps.

  • any good price on the m50x?

  • Any one used ath-m50 and ue6000? Any preference?

Hi, anyone have any info regarding the company on this deal? Many counterfeit items these days, built quality or warranty can be future issues. Thanks folks.

  • Sorry for the noob questions as I have never before dealt with Massdrop.

Could anyone please answer the following questions:-

    1) What payment methods can be used for Massdrop?

    2) Can Paypal be used as a payment method?

    3) From what I can tell, pricing is in USD. Could someone confirm this or whether it actually is in AUD?

    Thanks.

Just did some research on this Massdrop deals website. They're basically a startup, launched not long ago, and they're not an authorised dealers - obviously. On top of that, when converted to AUD + 3% international conversion fee ~ AUD$145, approx.

AU local online retailer sell it for AUD$160 (incl. free delivery), check minidisc.com.au (not associated whatsoever), there're many other option, but they're the cheapest at the moment. They're authorised dealers. Check: http://audio-technica.com.au/about/authorised-dealers/

For $15 difference - risk of counterfeit, long international delivery, warranty highly questionable (esp for deal website) - absolutely not worth the risk, why not support AU local business.

    Cheers.

    • this. price is terrible. you're going to end up paying 145-147 after the conversion, waiting a long time for it to get to you with no warranty. minidisc is 165 for m50 atm.

addicted to audio is a melbourne based store pretty well known in australia, selling for $159.90 with express shipping and great customer service. they let me cancel/change orders quickly with ease and i bought my m50 from there a while ago. you handle all warranties through them and im sure the product is not counterfeit, so you guys might want to check that out.

that being said, the m50 for $160 in itself is ehhhh… if you're paying that price you really need to check out the other 100 options in that price range before you just fall for the hype and jump in. at its 100 price point its almost unbeatable as an all rounder. at 160+, nah. do some research first.

    • Massdrop is legit, have bought from them a few times, no hassles.
