Where are these codes coming from? If there a mailing list or something?

    • -4

Who cares where they're coming from, just apply before they expire lol

Maybe he wants to be informed first so he can book before others sell out?

        • I posted it within 10 minutes of getting the email so he has a small chance. ;)

  • Is the total in US$? Do we just convert ourselves before paying so that we know howuch we are being charged?

    • Yep, total is in USD, so can just use something like xe.com for a guide of how much it'll be in AUD. Best using something like 28 Degrees Card to book to avoid fees for the conversion too :)

Cheers OP I just bagged myself the 4* Broadbeach Savannah Hotel & Resort spa room for this Sat night, with full buffet breakfast for 2, for US$92, sweet!!

  • I saved $93.14USD (+$27 for tax, saved $100AUD compared to hotelscombined) - Used 28 degrees mastercard

"We're sorry the promo code you entered is not valid for this destination." - trying to book Singapore accom for later this month.

    • Also nothing for Hong Kong.

  • +1

"We're sorry the promo code you entered is not valid for this hotel. Please see the promo code rules below."

This is after searching with the promo code, then on the Right hand side of the search results clicking 'apply promo' and applying the promo to the search results.. wtf.

  • No cheaper than other sites, even using promo code.

    • +3

Possibly on the particular hotel you were looking at. For the hotel I booked it was cheaper by $400 for the time.

      • got a room in Melbourne CBD for $74. half the normal price

        • Any recommendations on a good hotel in melbourne CBD to book?

        • Rydges is nice and the coupon seems to work.

        • +1

Yeah I noticed Rydges first, but it's $18 for wifi and an extra $30 per day for parking. The costs really add up after a few days.

  • Anyone find a good deal for a hotel in San Fran?

  • Coupon doesn't seem to work for Sentosa Island, Singapore?

Anyone found any hotel that it works for there?

  • I made a booking earlier using their 20% off promotion! Has anyone experienced whether they will honour the cheaper price?

I checked through their best price guarantee and it seems they might but I don't want to get my hopes up. It could be a saving of US $200..

    • +1

Wow.. a 5% difference in discount saves US $200?

      A $4000 Hotel?

      • If it's some 5 star European hotel it's not hard to manage such a saving.

      • If you can afford to splash out $4000 on a hotel in the first place, do you really need to save 5%? Lol

        • Many people on OB buy expensive products if it's a good bargain.

      • Ah no. It was only $150 (exc tax and fees) but we booked it for 7 nights. Yeah for some reason, it was $200 cheaper exc credit card fee, which is roughly $25. So $170 ish.

I got a reply from cheapticket.com and my understanding is that because the tickets I purchased had no refund on them, this means that they are ineligible for the best price guarantee.

  • Whatever you do, don't stay at the Hyatt Sydney: https://pay.reddit.com/r/australia/comments/1ww111/my_friend…

  • Great for me. Had previously booked with Agoda in Fiji. Using this had continental breakfast and saved $A200 as well.

  • Need to book some hotels in a month's time in Queensland but the majority of the reviews I've seen from google are negative for this site. Anybody have any real experience with booking hotels in the past 6 months using these promo codes?

  • Anyone with personal experience with CheapTickets for Australian hotels?

I read some reviews for the site and some of them are appalling.

    • Yeah I booked with them for Nov of last year at Frasier Suites Sydney (which was incredible by the way! Can't wait til I can go back there again!) and ended up saving from memory, somewhere around the $250 mark.
My only gripe, although potentially my fault, is not realising that I'd get charged an international fee, and getting charged an additional $56. But as mentioned above, still ended up saving a decent amount.
Obviously I didn't end up cancelling, so I'm not sure how the company deals with that (from my research, it seems that a lot of these cheap sites screw you over when it comes to taking advantage of the "free cancellation").
I didn't have any problems with them, meaning I had no need to contact them. So I'd say "so far so good!"
A little tip: After making your booking online, call the hotel and enquire about your booking to make sure it's there and it's what it's supposed to be.

    • I used them last week for 6 nights hotel stay in Sydney metro. I booked online and then rang the hotel to check, they had the email notification but the booking wasn't yet there. By the time we arrived at the hotel half an hour later it was all there. No problems at all, all went to plan. Even scored an upgrade at the hotel. Would definitely use cheaptickets again.

  • So far so good for me.

I booked 4 nights at Mooloolaba for $391USD yesterday.

Confirmed my booking with the hotel this morning.

Thanks OP. I didn't save any money with my hotel booking in Oslo but I was able to upgrade to a better hotel using my original budget.

  • If you missed out, there's another sale on now till the 16/02/14.
    only 20% off this time.
