How is this not a bargain?

There are countless posts here with "cheapest price on staticice" or "cheaper than any staticice price".

To me a bargain is the cheapest available price on an item. There are degrees of how good a bargain is but a bargain is a bargain.

Bargain - an advantageous purchase, esp. one acquired at less than the usual cost: The sale offered bargains galore. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bargain)

      • I haven't paid much attention recently but a little while back Mwave did have a habit of beating the StaticIce price by a trivial amount (literally 5 cents a couple of times) and getting front-paged for it. Seemed to be a disincentive to providing real bargains and a cheap way to get a prominent advert.

and 9 pos+ with NO comments is very sus…

the are pretty crap drives - I have two and both give me errors… stay away from these…

      They have a 3 year warranty …

I don't know how you have them setup (perhaps your just unlucky or got a bad batch).
All hard drives work better when installed in machines … HDD in caddies never seem to last as long.
Other factors that may limit the life of a HDD include cheap unregulated power supply, dust and poor ventilation.

      • Run a UPS connected to your PC to filter the power supply
      • Get a good case which has adequate ventilation and dust filters … and clean them regularly
      • Install some fans which can help to cool the hard drives

To me a bargain is cheaper than anywhere else otherwise you would have very few deals posted on this site.
I don't know why you think the positive votes are suspicious? (BTW I don't have 9 accounts to blow my own trumpet)

      • I have a Samsung 32MB cache 750GB drive and it's been good to me. Even when we had all those hot days. I've had it for 6 months so far no problem.

I believe I have a good PSU and a couple of well placed PWM fans.

I would recommend these drives to people! If I had more money i'd buy this :P

it's all about quality of the posts, and not the quantity.

it's quite easy for people to use getprice.com, staticice.com, and other price comparison sites to see the cheapest price… this site is about BARGAINS…

    • Samsung are reliable.
I think you are getting confused with Seagate.

        Must be Maxtor, lol.

i've used samsung and they are reliable… but if you do end up requiring warranty on them good luck because their warranty procedure is nowhere as good as seagates or WD. For starters, finding out where to begin is already quite difficult and not straight forward… as experienced by a colleague of mine who still is trying to figure out who to notify and where to send his faulty samsung hdd to.

        • I actually think they have one of the best warranty in the business, well if you live in Sydney anyways… I've been sending mine to QQ Digital Service Pty Ltd, in regents park. I've had 4 working days turnarounds, I was quite impressed actually.

IT Estate have them for $121, I bought 2 last week….

zomg qtvinsta…..you're being such a troll on all the HDD posts….grow up and shut up

sigh..Everyweek there is at least someone who post a 1tb HD.. get over it , thats what static ice is made for, lame way to get +ve

  • This is $30 cheaper than i paid on the weekend. Damn! I had some setup issues with it too. Theres some compatability issues with Samsung 1tb and Gigabyte mobo's. Theres a tool out there to reset the size from 32mb/7gb back to 1000mb. Got it working eventually.. It's sweetly quiet too, most important in a Media Centre.

    • Are you using it as a primary drive?
I have a Gigabyte P35-DS3R motherboard and luckily didn't experience any problems

  • Thanks for this, just ordered two! Already had one (exact same model) that is around the 900GB mark, so it was time for another. Might do RAID-5.

Thanks a lot for this bargain!

  • Thanks for posting this. Just ordered two - my other Samsung drive has been going great guns for over a year now.

  • Yes, good price, check on msy,

    Seagate 1TB $139
    W.D iTB $124

but as you knew, there is always long queue at MSY.

  • Too late. no free shipping now.

  • hahahaha… i get the last laugh, a month later and the norm for 1tb is $105…
i hope ppl didn't think this was a 'BARGAIN'
