Imagine the scene at the water cooler on the top floors in the biggest companies:

Our $150k per year Princess is chatting to hubby:

"Oh Darling - Oh Wow! Just spotted this amazing deal on Ozbargain … I can't wait for our Captain's Choice bub to arrive so I can get my $75,000 Paid Parental Leave cheque from the Love God Tony Rabbit so we can have the taxpayer pay for our endless holidays at Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa!"

"I'm so happy that we voted for Mr Rabbit - with that cheque we can spend EVERY weekend there for the next 37 weeks!"

"I can't wait to have another one of Tony's Captain's Choice children so we can do it all again next year — and the year after that … and the year after that!"

"I had no idea that giving birth to commodities … er I mean … Captain's Choice kids could be so profitable!"

"And I'm just so thankful for all those low income peasants out there who will be paying 5% more at the supermarket for years into the future to pay for our endless luxury lifestyle."

"It's just sad that so many of them are being sacked and made redundant - but then again I pay my taxes to fund their welfare - so why shouldn't they pay five per cent more on everything to make sure I continue to enjoy all the finer things in life!"

"But then again - well off people like me should be paid extra to breed more Captain's Choice children - if you are not on my income then you shouldn't be encouraged to breed."

"Wasn't Mr Rabbit so amazingly smart in taxing the top 3000 companies 1.5% extra to pay for my luxury lifestyle? He's a bit sneaky because all those companies will charge all the peasants, unemployed, homeless and anyone else in a desperate situaation five per cent more on everything they buy to pay for moi!"

"Oh - and don't forget - we'll have to keep a little bit aside to pay for bub's private school fees. It's very important that they reach high incomes so our family can continue to get $75,000 cheques for generations to come!"

    • tl;dr

    • So the moral of your story is that you don't like people that are wealthy and successful and you have a problem with the government.

I'm not a fan of the new baby bonus scheme because I personally think that anything beyond $100 a week for the first 42 weeks of a child being born as well as $1000 when they're born ($5200 total) is overly generous.

I don't see how this is relevant to a hotel deal though, just comes off as someone finding any excuse to attack the government. No government is perfect, but there was never a chance of labor winning while they were self destructing. Let them rebuild and if they don't then you can always elect the dinosaur golf president.

Over $2000 for the 2 nights… and yet that still doesn't cover credit card payments.

  • A cheaper alternative is the Newnes holiday cabins down the road: http://lisp.com.au/~newnes/

You can stay at my place for half this price

I'll cook you bacon and eggs on the bbq

You can drink my VBs in the fridge

You can relax under my pergola

You will sleep in a queen bed, just need to move the clean clothes

    • -1

Same, but I'll even move the clothes for you and give you free unlimited access to all the local beaches.

    • no pool? :)

      • Yeah there is a local pool its free too.

  • I have stayed at Wolgan for a couple of nights before & my stay was exceptional. However I would not pay this 'bargain' price however.
