  • That's amazing. I thought $400 for the lower model was great.

    Any cheap blades ?

      ahh corded. i feel better.

  • Far out! Weren't these $600+? Can anyone confirm if these come with the 2nd battery?

EDIT: Ahhhh, it's the CORDED model I see added to the title now. Hmmm.

    • Oh yeah I see the edit now. Doh.

    • No battery. This model is power cord.

  • U got any actual evidence of this?

    • Yes. I got one of this yesterday. I don't have time to scan the receipt and post it here. May be next time I will take a picture of it when I come to the store.

      • OK, its just that my local bunnings never seems to have these good clearance deals, so I'd need hard proof. I guess I could get them to call the store.

        • Ive found that the bunnings in the middle of no where or poorer suburbs have the best deals. They are so desperate to clear stock.

Take a photo using your phone and use the phone to upload

  • just be careful not to cut your own cord…

  • Will have to go into mine today and check…

    Here's a comparison price:

    • Yeah bought mine a few months ago at Mitre10.

Also got Aldi's latest catalogue where they have a cordless one that looks similar to Rotak 43 LI for $299.

      • can't see this? where?

        • How do you find this Scotty? The last time I used an electric mower was a 30 year old Victa my parents bought because it was light and they weren't able to pull a cord. Problem was they had a big yard and it would overheat, and then you'd be waiting 15min to an hour for it to start working again. That and if you were tracking up and back at each turn you would be flicking the cord over to the other side.

  • I really need an electric mower, is this any good? I cant handle the maintenance of petrol ones.

I bought a Rotak 34 from Amazon UK about 2.5 years ago..
It's pretty much entirely plastic, the blade and handle are metal and that's about it.
But it's nice and light, fairly quiet and does the job perfectly fine. Folds up pretty neatly too.

You'll find the first few mows are a bit annoying as you work out the best way to mow without having to worry about the cord, but after that, it's really not a hassle at all.

"Can't handle the maintenance of the petrol ones?"

OK fair call BUT if you invest in a decent petrol mower you really shouldn't need to do much to it over its lifetime if you're only mowing a standard suburban backyard. My Honda is a great example… sure it cost a LOT initially but over the 12 years I've owned it I've drained/replaced the oil only a few times, replaced the spark plug once (even though it probably didn't need to be) and have replaced the air filter element & foam only 4-5 times, each job only requiring basic tools and very limited time & effort. Blades are obviously a consumable and will need to be replaced on any mower so they don't really count here. I've put four sets of blades on my Honda since new but sometimes just for the hell of it when I've moved into a new house or something. The pull rope is getting pretty frayed now but $5-$10, a screwdriver and 10 minutes will fix that.

Ignore the cheapies and either go get yourself an entry-level Honda or one of the new Victas with the Honda engine. I can guarantee as long as you don't abuse it and keep up the very simple, quick & easy maintenance you should easily get 10-15+ years out of it.

      My 2c ;)

We've had a Bosch petrol mower for 36+ years (Dad bought it before I was born) and it's needed a total of two spark plugs and a few rivets to shore up a cracking side plate over all those years, plus a few squirts of oil. Still starts first pull after all that time.

We tried a corded mower for a while while minding a friend's house, it was a bit tricky as their only powerpoint was inside the house and the dog kept chewing on it and pulling it out of the wall! If we bought a rechargeable one, I can only imagine how many thousands of dollars we would have spent over all those years just on battery replacements if it was electric. The amount of petrol we've used in it over all those years is probably far less than the amount of oil it would take to produce a new lawnmower and all those batteries.

          Definitely need outdoor power points…

      • Or a Kubota, similar to the Hondas in build and quality

  • Most of the bunnings in Sdney dont have stock.. they were promotional line product.

Mowing the lawn with a corded Mower already give me the shits. I can't imagine having a cord constantly in the way to further aggravate the situation. :|

Do it right and the cord doesn't get in the way..
Plus an electric motor is significantly lighter than a Petrol so much easier to manoeuvre.
That's not to say that mowing a lawn is any more enjoyable, but having a cord doesn't add to the hassle if you're smart.

      • Totally agree with the weight comment here. My big fat Honda is a heavy bastard and can be difficult to manoeuvre around tight spots, even with the nice big wheels with proper bearings etc. That's probably the only downside to it but at least it keeps me fit :)

        That's the most important bit.

Metal petrol ones can be quite heavy just to mow a small lawn, and the cheap ones are often hard to start. We are now using this exact model (Bosch Rotak 43) and the Mrs are happy to do the lawn mowing herself (when I pretend to be busy solving issues in front of computers). Win!!

While you're inside relaxing with aircon on & indulging in migoreng while on OzB (making ppl spend money)? Oh Scottyyyyy…. :P

Better make it up to her on V-day with…err…this?

        • Don't tell anyone what town she's from, they will be inundated with offers

  • Ok so most reviews are good, but how do i get it at this price? Last time i went to bunnings with an unlisted ozbargain deal they couldn't do the same price because it wasn't a normal system price and they didn't seem to want to price match a Special discount'.

    • Ok bought one, epping Vic. This store has 3 staff to every 500 customers

      • Box was light, just need to get the mulching accessory now for a cheap price, can only find it in the UK

        • received the mulching kit from amazon uk, about $40 aud delivered.

  • Bought mine at Bunnings Melton after spending the morning cooking sausages/onions at the sausage sizzle outside. :)

$249. Great deal. That old Ozito can go sulk in the corner now.

  • Ozito is crap, i bought their 4 in one hedger pole saw trimmer and brush cutter, had it for 1 week, think its going to catch on fire soon.
