    What's a bargain in these ?
You can get these prices from generic brands at Big W/ Target also.

    • I don't get it either. Many people blindly think Aldi is the cheapest without bothering to shop around. Hence why every Aldi catalogue gets posted as a deal here.

To each their own I guess

    • You can get these prices from generic brands at Big W/ Target also.

do big w/target now sell things like fridges, dishwashers, lawn mowers, ladders?

      • Also target and Big W don't give you a 2 month money back guarantee, a Mustwith a lot of cheap items

        • Yeah, Target policy has changed. Now its 28 days. I once remember seeing a lady in front of me return an unopened sheet 2 years later "because she didn't like it"

You should probably also note that the money back guarantee only really is necessary on change of mind. If the item is faulty then the warranty is typically 12 months no matter where you buy it from

        • aldi 3yr warranty :)

I tend to find that the overall quality of the Aldi goods to be better than the generics from Big W and Target…..but that is not always true.

    • +10

you mean the quality is better everytime except when it's not?

      ;)

      • Haha yes….exactly. I mean just look and compare. Sometimes the Aldi product is great for the price….other times you just would not bother. Horses for courses…..sometimes something being cheap doesn't mean that its a bargain….we all know that right?

    • I think the order of quality from generics at the cheaper department stores is:

      1st) Target
      ….
      ….
      ….
      ..
      Equal last) Aldi, BigW, KMart

      • You do know Target sells pretty much the same products as Kmart and BigW don't you?

        • +1

K-Mart and Target are owned by the same company. The reason they don't just merge into TargMart is because they're catering to different markets: Target sell slightly higher-quality stuff, K-Mart sells the cheaper stuff.

        • jong is right, totally different merchandise. Believe what you want though, like all the Aldi lovers

        • I didn't mention Aldi.
Would love to know what's higher quality in target than that of Kmart and big W?
I actually shop at all 3 and find them very similar. Target is definitely perceived as higher tier and most of the time their prices reflect that but as far as I'm concerned it's an old perception and judging by the performance of the 3 it seems most consumers have worked this out now.

      Not for power tools…

      • +2

I disagree with you there…..I don't think ALL are bad. My dad has a Taurus drill from a few years back….it is used for home handyman stuff and I have borrowed it on more than a few occasions. I think its a great drill…..and it was a good price too

        • +1

I have the original Taurus SDS hammer drill, it's been great, ripped out 3 bathrooms with it and is still not skipping a beat

  • Kind of wasteful that each of those 36v devices comes with its own battery and charger… Makes buying multiple tools more expensive than it needs to be..

    • What do you mean? It is a business ideal to make you buy only their products.. They do this by giving you appliances that only work with their batteries. But there batteries are interchangeable between their appliances.. so what do you mean?

      • I mean if you wanted all 4 tools you would be buying 4 batteries and 4 chargers…
It's likely 1 charger and 2 batteries would be easily enough but you don't have that option..

    • There are times where I wish I had multiple 36V batteries for my RYOBI garden tools. I am half contemplating buying the Aldi line trimmer just so I can use the second battery I have solely on the mower.

      • +1

But these batteries wouldn't fit your ryobi? Or am I misunderstanding what you are thinking..

        • But these batteries wouldn't fit your ryobi?

A bit of soldering will fix that…

    • Considering they don't sell the battery and charger on its own, you need to be getting on if you want to buy any single unit.

I have a combo kit, generic branded drill, torch, jigsaw and sander that when the battery and charger died was rendered useless. Much more of a waste than someone having a second battery and charger.

Speaking of which, after the bundled transformer melted, I tried another 2 transformers and the same happened to those, even though one had a higher amperage than three original, would anyone know why this would happen? I am hoping to fix it

36V Cordless Lawn Mower $299 - pretty good deal right? I've seen the bosch for $650.. some crappier models for around the $480 mark. Anything thoughts OzBargainers?

I came looking for the electrical garden…

    • +1

      Same… was disappointed :(

    • sorry, i thought that "Electrical Garden, Kitchen, Laundry Appliances" was clearer than "Electrical Garden/Kitchen/Laundry Appliances" as people seem to prefer commas over slashes but perhaps not?

      • There is no comma or slash in "electrical garden" :-)

You may have been better off saying Garden electrical, as then the second word can't be an adjective

        • but it's also electrical kitchen and electrical laundry appliances - not everyone thinks that all appliances/equipment are electrical :)

  • I'm thinking to buy that Urbanspace Wardrobe - $40. Do someone know if this price is good enough or if there's more options around ?

  • 23L Microwave Oven $69.99

are microwave ovens just microwaves? i was going to get one just because i thought it was a microwave and an oven combined with the whole convection thing. whoops.

    • +2

      are microwave ovens just microwaves?

a microwave oven uses microwaves to cook food.

a microwave is an electromagnetic wave

      • That a bit of a smarmy answer don't you think?

What the fella wants to know is of the word 'oven' means that it includes a grill or some forms of convection heating, to which the answer is probably no, except I can't read the writing in the catalogue and the Aldi site seems down for me atm?

  • fyi warringal already had a dishwasher and washing machine out on the floor last sunday :)
