Pioneer X-SMC4 Airplay $109 Delivered @ Catch of The Day

140

I bought this at $180 and another at $140 and I thought this was an awesome price at $109. If you listen to music around the house this will change your life. I listen to Pandora radio on this every day and the sound quality is better than OK but not awesome. My brother in law who is a professional musician hates Pandora and airplay systems as it is killing his income.

  • wow that's cheap

  • Thanks ordered one hope it's good

  • Reviews don't seem overly favourable from the few I read. Can't make up my mind to pull the trigger or not.

Multiple reviews don't look good. Don't pull the trigger.
      Reasoning:
      - Distortion at loud volumes [settings from 35-50 out of a range of 0-50 - ridiculous]
      - Crashing/rebooting multiple times
      - Long startup time. Computers can start up faster. Why can't this?

Those are the important points I can see

I was really interested too :( seems so perfectly feature rich! Such a shame :(

      • So the reviews care a bit misleading volumes above 35 are ridiculously loud and only really necessary for a party which I wouldnt use this for as it is a small personal system. There is a quick start feature that is not turned on by default, every review seems to skip this probably because reviews now days are copies from another web site. Its interesting how similar all the reviews are that I read.

Each system I have both crashed Minutes after setting the WiFi password. Perfect ever since.

        • I use mine as an airplay speaker for the AppleTV and I have to have it at around 45 to hear it over the treadmill. It's fine for TV at that volume, but yeah, rarely above 30 for music.

      • You can set it to quick startup, if you don't mind it using a bit more power.

  • uses iTunes for how many features?

    • I don't get the question, its an airplay device like blue tooth but WiFi.

  • After reading that this unit has many design faults and pour sound quality. I will avoid this and going through warranty issue with catch of the day is horrible.

  • How does the sound quality compare to Pure-Fi Dream?
    Thanks

Got mine today. Seems pretty good feature and sound quality wise apart from the one crash when I tried to play music from my nas. Had to unplug it from the wall to get it to reset and thought it broke as it wouldn't turn back on. I read the manual and found out that if the power goes out while the fast startup mode is on it will take about 1 min to boot back up again before it'll let you turn it on. Screen is nice and good quality. Bluetooth works nicely with my Xperia Z Ultra.

  • Got mine today. Plays fines from my n40l in the lounge and sounds pretty decent to me, does feel slow like reviews have said to start up but this doesnt worry me. Bluetooth works good with my Nexus 5.
P.S Using network cable instead of wireless because it would take years to enter my wifi password on their interface :(
