Looks pretty legit.

People are saying to use different addresses, you won't and don't need to receive anything via snail-mail, TechNet is all based around your Live account (i.e. Hotmail/MSN). Sign in via that and all of your programs and keys are distributed through the site.

Taken from OCAU from anthony256's thread/post.

[Update]: Ars Technica is reporting that this offer may not be for one year as first thought, but only three months. Never-the-less, it's best to get in early and make the most of this while you can.

[Update 2]: It appears as though there are errors in requesting keys and we are hearing that this offer may have been limited to a select few rather than public. Microsoft has not officially responded to requests for comment.

[quote]If you entered a Tax ID claiming Tax Exempt status, you are required to send in a copy of your tax exempt certificate to complete your order. [/quote]

I'm among the many people who have already grabbed all the keys and downloaded all the iso's

      • and when m'soft disables your account, all your keys become useless.

        • Um… MS can't disable keys remotely, and if the product activation has already been completed successfully then it's all good.

  • I just signed and have already accessed my technet account !! Now to dump a set of product keys!

  • worked like a charm..

just give one of the states mentioned there which do not require Tax ID .. like Alaska.. and it worked.. but unable to retrieve keys at the moment..

anyone else with the same problem?

I used 1 Microsoft Way, REDMOND as my address!

  • Thanks Turd. Excellent find.

That tax field required only if you can claim tax exemption available for the few US States for the amount (of zero$) paid.

Looks like it might take 48 hours for full access, following is from the email :

    New Subscriptions

If this is a new subscription, once processing of your payment is completed, you will receive a second email confirmation. Within 48 hours of the processing of your payment, you will receive a third email with instructions for how to access your online benefits and additional program information

Gonna vote down on the Basis it's not anAustralian offer and you have to enter in dodgy info if you don't have a US postal address. Sure you can still get past the system…but you can get movies and games free too by going about it in a dishonest fashion. Not that I personally care if people do make use of it and it's a fantastic offer…I just don't think it necessarily applies to residents here and that using it isn't that far removed from pirating the content to begin with.

Works if you know someone living in USA. Dont see why not. :)

  • What postcode did you guys use? Because i seem to be stuck on the postcode

    • Just do a google search for postal code of your area you typed in.

    • think tv shows..

beverly hills 90210 < thats the suburb and zip code!

  • Works well indeed, and nice to get some extra subscription time considering I already pay for it ;)

    FYI:

For those in other countries, it seems you're out of luck, but no doubt there are ways around these limitations. Let us know how it goes!

[Update 3]: We are getting reports from members that many who had been successfully added to the subscription have now been removed. It seems that this was all an error on Microsoft's part.
