Brainwavz R1 Dual Dynamic Speaker Earphone + Free Fedex Shipping $33.01 AU Delivered

R115OFFVAL

I received an email today for $15 off the Brainwavz R1 range from MP4NATION. It doesn't beat the deal from mid last year, but certainly comes close. Excellent pair of earphones for the money; very good sound/isolation. I've been using the 'with microphone' version for a year now (link below) and have been quite happy with them.

To get the correct price, just enter the code in the checkout, hit apply, select Australia from the shipping drop down box, enter postcode, and select:
"FREE FEDEX PRIORITY (1 - 5 DAYS DELIVERY) $0.00"

Link to the microphone version for $38.61 AU delivered:

Ends 19th Feb. Enjoy :)

Will second the recommendation. I've had a pair of these for about a year now, and they are better than anything else under $100.

My only niggle is they are slightly awkward when inserting into your ears, but once in, sit very comfortably.

    • Recommended by me too. Great build quality of the actual housing. The cable has an too high amount of memory which makes it a bit meh for me but in terms of sound quality for the price, it is really really good. The foam buds are fantastic. Great isolation and wonderful audio clarity. Highly recommended by me especially since they were my previous pair for quite a long time.

    • think this is what i have, and great sound, but i havnt managed to get it with the right ear piece to stay in my ears for long

  • How do these compare to the MEElectronics M9P?

A fair bit better but for the price the M9P's aren't bad at all. The M9P's are fun to listen but is fairly flawed, the bass muddies up the mids and the highs and the exaggeration can be headache inducing. The R1's fix up that clarity and have a bigger sound stage.

If you're willing to fork out a little more, you can get the vsonic vsd1(s) for about $45, which are currently the best iem's for under $100 IMO. They do a great deal better than these R1's.

  • Has anyone got any economical alternatives to a Sennheiser HD201? My current set is pretty crappy (not loud enough, distorts on high levels). It's mainly for gaming and movie purposes.

    • Koss Porta-Pro? OzGameShop has them for $45.99 which compares with a similar deal on OzB a while back.

They're a very light fit on ear. The head band is a bit quirky but the sound is great. A Headphone amp makes them work even better - can't believe the sound at this price.

      • I agree. Got a near new pair off a bloke on Head-fi for $25 and these are fantastic for the price. On-ears so they do heat up my ears pretty quickly and they have a habit of grabbing onto your hair when you want to take them off. If you can look past that, they're an absolutely fantastic pair.

        • I already have a Koss Portapro. The cable is not long enough to reach the back of my PC tower, so I'd have to resort using an 3.5mm extension cable. And it does pinch my ears a bit, so I don't like wearing it for long periods.

  • Gents, how would this compare to the Pioneer SE-NC31 earphones? I'm more concerned about the sound quality as opposed to anything else really.
