$o.22 each??? This is not a bargain at all.
There are cheaper and better product, for example http://www.amazon.com/Spax-4577000450416-8-Inch-Stainless-1-…

I am sorry you think this - the link you provide is for 'grade 304' Stainless Steel screws. These are likely to tea-stain and rust in coastal areas and we do not recommend 304 anywhere near the coast. The Australian Stainless Associations says 316 should be used with 5km of the sea. Our deal is for 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel which is a far higher spec. Also Square Drives you mention area good, quick drive for installing - But I do not think they look as good as 6 lobe drive, because the squares never line up down the deck.

  • Where's the deal?

Expensive screws at your normal price isn't a deal.

/\ Literally the first page that came up in a search and it's cheaper. (14c a screw) not to mention it looks like you've taken a photo of a mis-stamp looking at the point.

Yes this is a good price at $0.14 a screw HOWEVER it is for a smaller 10g x 50mm screw. We find 12g is much better at holding decking down, and suggest 12g x 50 at least and ideally 12g x 65mm.

Also your version does not have 2 threads, top and bottom with a shank which improves hold down - and a special tip to enable self-drilling with a good countersink finish. Out testing shows a sharp self drilling tip, or Type 17 tip as your suggested product has IS fast for drilling BUT it leaves a much rougher finish under the head and doesn't look as good. Our Anzor Deck Driver has a special tip for drilling softwood and hardwood, it is slightly slower but leaves a MUCH neater finish.

So yes the screws you mention are cheaper but I do not feel they are nearly as good as the larger (12g) and better finishing Anzor Deck Driver (due to more expensive tip on the Anzor screw).

  • aren't decking screws meant to have rounded top, to avoid water pooling?

    • No

    • Good point, it is hard to see from the images, but the Anzor Deck Driver does have a slightly concave surface to the head, not dead flat head for this purpose.

      • an inward curve is worse than flat (inward = concave)

  • Best screws around…!!!!….for decking…. Oh

what a rip off, i just bought a whole bunch from aldi for less.

why didnt you just put the price as $0.05 cents for a quarter of a screw.

    • I would be keen to know exactly what you got - material, size and tip, I have not seen an equivalent for $0.20ea - I do think these are the best and we have tested many types, but I would be keen to hear from you if i am wrong

The tension on this thread is quite high…

    • Agreed - I think in some cases it is not comparing apples with apples - I am happy to check every detail and see if there is a cheaper equivalent, but I have not seen it yet

Looks like this is your normal price. So not a bargain.

    • It is not our normal price - we have put this deal on our website today, and it will be taken off our website after the deal ends.

Rep - thank you for your effort with answering all the questions on here today, i for one, have bookarmked your link for future reference and hope all your staff everywhere are as helpful.

It would be good to know how much these screws cost when not on special though

Thanks - the whole Anzor team focus strongly on customer service. We specialize in Stainless Fasteners.

These screws vary in price as we focus on Industrial and Construction Supply, so it depends on the project volume (I.e. 1000 screws or 10,000 screws), but the 12g x 50's would certainly be over the $0.28ea mark normally and $0.30ea for a small quantity like 1000 and not Free Courier Australia Wide.

I think they are the best screw for this application for the reasons stated in the answeres to questions, we have done a lot of testing and development in their design, so to be comparable in price to screws which do not do the job as well I think is a really good DEAL - thanks

  • There sure are a lot of dumb comments on this thread. There's no point comparing these with other types of screws unless you're actually comparing like with like. Buying stainless steel screws isn't just for vanity; there are important engineering considerations in this choice. Galvanised steel screws aren't suitable for decking applications, despite being unfortunately fairly common, particularly in cheap, inferior decking jobs.

I challenge anybody who seems to think a pack of cheap Aldi screws is a worthy alternative to high grade stainless decking screws to go away and actually get your hands dirty, build a deck and see what happens after a few years.

Well done rep, this is a pretty good deal. Please keep 'em coming.

  • Great advice! Having been looking at this sort of thing recently, it is a good price, too. Unfortunately, I don't need 1000 screws. It is only a 12m2 deck…

    Thanks Rep.

I (or some random guy from the local paper) am going to build a pool deck for me at some stage, and have book marked your site for when I get that far!
