70

IPAD2 @ officeworks for AUD378.
Apple Store selling it for AUD449.
JBHiFi have the same price as Apple Store and dont price match, but they are giving $50 voucher to spend on DVDs and bluerays, still not as good as this officeworks deal.
Thegoodguys did not pricematch as well, best price they could do AUD 414.
BingLee does not sell any Apple products.
HN and Dicksmith also did not price match.
I ordered one from OW and got it delivered (free delivery) the following day.

Good Guys actually have it for $379 "as advertised"so I'm guessing Officeworks have undercut them.

Big W have it for the same price as well.

    • they must have done it now. Last Sunday, the guy at TGG offered me a price match but when I went to the counter to pay, it got escalated to manager and the manager refused to price match and overruled the guy's decision of price match. This was TGG artarmon.

      • The manager sounds like a dick.

  • the ipad 2 was a big improvement over the ipad 1. But this device lags on ios 7

iPad 2 should be much more cheaper its an obsolete Apple product the price hasn't changed much for the pass 2 years

    • +1

It has gone up I believe?

    • It's actually not obsolete, they re-jigged it and still continue to produce it!
Not that I would even consider getting a 2 nowadays, but read about it here Every iPad!

I don't know how people see this as a bargain

  • +3

How is this a bargain? It came out in 2011! It's nearly 3 years old!

The actual product you buy may have only be manufactured a couple of months ago! They still make them… But I still wouldn't get one!

Not a great deal. For starters, if you really want an iPad 2, refurbs are $329.

But you can even get a much, much better refurbed iPad 4 for $449 from Apple with full warranty. (which thanks to the ACCC, now means minimum 2 years).

Always check the Apple refurb store.

The 16GB WiFi iPad 2 averages about $280 on eBay: http://www.ebay.com.au/bhp/apple-ipad-2-16gb

I have an iPad 2 and an iPad 4. Honestly I can barely tell the difference between the two in terms of performance and screen quality (unless looking at photos imported from separate camera). Which reminds me why I prefer the iPad 2… my camera connection kit still fits :-P

  • I bought my ipad 3 (with retina) 32 GB version for $397 last year …. so this price is not that great

add $120 or LESS and get an Asus T100 = no brainer

Die Apple, Die! (stabs with fork in eye)

    • add $120 or LESS and get an Asus T100 = no brainer

unless you want to run iPad apps…

      • Owning both an Ipad and android tab, the perceived higher app quality on ios is overrated. The only apps that I use that offer a huge improvement over the android version counterpart is the ebay and skype app. There's some disadvantages to the Ipad too, such as if you watch a lot media on your tab, you end up turning your 10" tab into like an 8" tab with the black bars on top and bottom. Though the Ipad wins if you watch older stuff that is in 4:3 ar, and also the speakers suck on the Ipad. The fact that paid apps can be had at 1/3rd the price regularly on the playstore puts it in front of the ios store for me.

  • FYI JB voucher is minimum spend of $200

  • How long do people think it will be before Apple support is discontinued for Ipad2?

    • Reports (rumours) suggest this will be soon.

    • Well they'd have to stop manufacturing them for a start!

    • Hey, a month after the rumours, they stopped selling the iPad 2 at Apple stores.

      • About time! They must've had a shiP load of parts left over to want to continue manufacturing these things!

        • They probably still produce the same parts for repairs and to go in current models.
