  • The food isn't too bad, it's OK if you're hungry and just to tide you over midway through the flight. Best have a good meal before you go through the boarding gate though :)

Take your own tablet loaded with movies to entertain yourself.

If you're a bit bigger boned, then shell out for the extra legroom seats for around $25 each way.
Also they don't refrigerate the drinks, so when they offer you a cup with ice in it, take it!

Great price, if I wasn't so busy this month I'd go for a quick weekender.

    • Usually i will bring my own meal/snack and yes, my own tablet!
or sleep for 6 hours at the flight. It is pretty comfortable.

  • any deals on return trips?

  • I've got 3 $212aud Scoot vouchers for sale at $150aud (stackable as well). PM me or check this deal in the Classifieds section of Ozbargain.

  • seats were hard and not comfortable. price is hard to beat though. you get what you pay for i guess.

Hi guys please hear my story before considering this.

After being stranded at chiangi Airport due to an EIGHT HOUR DELAY on the 17th of February from SIN to SYD which ALL passengers had to sleep at the airport since we were not allowed out of the airport, i wanted to know when you would contact the passengers regarding the 200 credit as promised and also a delay letter for our insurance claim companies? I've tried to call TWICE on there customer service line only to be waiting for over half a hour on one occasions and over a hour for another.

just got off the phone! thanks for there customer service and over 40 minute wait! was just told the $200 credit as promised by your scoot staff was a MISTAKE! in fact only a $50 credit will be issued?? would this be considered Misleading? considering they had already told ALL passengers we would be received this credit? i understand airlines have delays, but lying to your customers doesn't seem very right for any business to operate…. especially when you are lying to a whole AIRPLANE full of customers. I would assume this has some legal weight considering a staff member legally representing your airline told us about the compensation. i think this clearly is a matter for ACCC to investigate.

BTW they seem to love deleting your msg posts on facebook which is why i thought it's important for the Oz bargain community to know what type of airline they operate.

    any advice would be great.

    thanks.

      any advice would be great.

blue and green should never be seen without something in between

  • If you're looking for a return flight you might want to risk waiting a few days for the return leg. Air Asia has promised their biggest ever sale - whatever that means.

    • actually scoot has $9 singapore to sydney yesterday lol

Yes, i got that email from airasia! their biggest ever sale.
And the deal is after scoot finished their deal. Seems intentional.
I wonder if airasia deal can beat this price?? I would be gladly cancel my scoot ticket as it's still in "grace" period (12 hours)

Anyway know what's the cheapest price ever for airasia SYD - SG?

      • Wow. Since it's ex-Singapore I assume it didn't include airport fees? Otherwise whatever the AirAsia deal has in store it would be hard to beat $158 return to Singapore.

I actually only ever intend Malaysia and Singapore as stops rather than destinations. If you actually wanted to stay only in Singapore then direct would be preferred (rather than via Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia, if that's necessary).

In the past few years AirAsia hasn't been very competitive with their ex-Sydney flights on the whole. Even back when AirAsia had their biggest ever sale in 2012 people were already disappointed (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80195) in some of the prices, so it's hard to get over-excited with their marketing speak. But I agree, they're always frustratingly good with their timing. I always tell people to never settle for full-price to Asia in March-April because there'll be a sale every few weeks from December to at least late February (unless of course more people start travelling).

The last few years I've always booked Scoot ex-Sydney and AirAsia return because historically Scoot had more competitive prices in their early days ($99 and less) and AirAsia was always cheap ex-KL.

I'm already in SE Asia for March-April, but even if AirAsia had specials for later in the year I don't know if I should risk going in typhoon/monsoon season (June to November). I suppose one could go somewhere like Kerala, India in late October.

        • Yes, i only use singapore and malaysia as stops as well, my destination is Indonesia at the moment.
This time i will go with Scoot then!

  • Note that scoot will charge you $5 per person per flight if you wish to request seats (ie if you buy two tickets and you want to sit next to your partner you need to pay $10 each way) and on top of that there is another another ~20 per person processing fee if you are paying by Credit Card!!

    • I thought you could get same seat if you check in together?

The processing fee can be avoided if you pay via poli payment (other paying option aside credit card)
i have tried this and it works.
And do not worry, even if this system redirect you to your bank account to do a direct debit, it is safe and quick!(i have done my research)
