  • +2

    I wouldn't call this a deal

Think the standard price is $119?

  • Definitely no deal

  • -1

I think it's expensive due to the firewire connection, just think of it as an Apple tax

I payed 69 for a 2tb with USB 3.0 this is a total rip off.

Where did you get that deal as I will line up for that..!!
      Thanks..

    • Yes please, share the deal.

  • Misleading title OP?

  • To be fair, WD My Book Studio for Mac is relatively expensive(since it has a firewire port) than normal WD My Book series, but that still can not justify the price of this 3.5 hard drive which has 2.0 USB.

This is the WD My Book Studio for Mac 1TB drive which always cost more than PC drives. This same drive is $171.99 at Mwave. Also the WD My Book Studio Mac 2TB drive is $219 at Officeworks so you can see how cheap this 1TB drive deal is. This is not a normal desktop drive which as like you get on the PC it's got a firewire port and designed for Apple Macs.

You people bagging this get a clue. This is actually a bargain for a My Book Studio 1TB Mac drive.

  • $65 for 1TB is good compared to normal retail, heck even 95% of special pricing. There are exceptional deals that you can catch if you keep an eye out though on HDDs especially. I need one badly because my 3.5" on my desktop died.

This drive is only a deal meant for older Macs where the fastest connection is via Firewire 800 (800Mbps). A lot of these Macs are stuck with USB 2.0 (480Mbps), not USB 3.0.

  • It's not a bad option for anyone hooking a HD up to a Wii or Wii U either given they're both limited to USB2 - certainly you can get better pricing on a per TB basis, but this is one of the cheapest drives around if you just need something decent to attach.

Quarrymaster is so right! This is maximizes transfer speed for old Macs with only USB2 and firewire. As I own one, this is a buy for me, so I just bought one.
