Why there's a need for more than one book on Britain confuses me. If there's anything worthwhile that isn't in the one book, then the book is incomplete.

The lonely planet approach: let's produce lots of crap and confuse everyone in the hope of multiple sales!

Not that I directly disagree with you, but, why is there need for more than one type of car?

      • +4

Unless you're hauling a boat etc, there isn't.

but, why is there need for more than one type of car?

So suburban soccer mums who live up windy roads that occasionally get covered with leaves & twigs can feel confident that their Hummer H1 is capable of protecting their precious angels from an errant tumbleweed collision.

    • you realise these are free, right?

  • Downloaded them all. Awesome - thanks OP!

Some are free on Amazon for a while now.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks heaps. Brightened my day! Lot's to look forward to!

  • These are really rubbish, I downloaded one last time this was on and it's really just like one of those things people link one facebook that you flick through in about one minute.
    Not much information at all.

It has dawned on me lately that I don't think much of LP. I discovered Insight books and like those more. I think LP has been somewhat replaced by the research I do on TripAdvisor.

  • Which is the Europe one?

  • +1

I bought the one for Tokyo and following it for one day was truly the shittiest experience of my life. It strongly endorsed going to some wonderfully old shopping district. Took me 45 minutes to get there and it turned out to be a normal suburban street with a Circle K and a noodle shop that looked vaguely old.

Generally I only use LP (or any other guide books) as a starting point, just to get an idea of what to see and do. Then google… LP gives me the 'keyword' for googling.

  • When I try to download, Google Play asks for CC details. Am I doing this right?

    • +1

That's normal, but no amount will be charged.

  • How do you do this without entering CC details or Google Play Gift Card?
