  • Thanks OP.

had a flight with them, wasnt a pleasant experience and i hate the airport in KL, but what do you expect from cheap fare?
sincerely hope fellow ozbargain will have a better experience than I do

    • +2

I'm sure they will with cheaper than economy prices in business class style seats

    • They have a new terminal opening in KL on May 2 - which should improve the experience a touch.

  • -2

Hey guys, how do i know if it's business class? i can't see it anywhere- sorry im noob lol

edit: im trying to book to osaka from sydney

    • +2

Yes, you are a noob. The deal has been marked as expired for ages now.

  • Huge thanks OP - booked this afternoon, $724 for 2 adults and 2 kids to KL for a week flying in Business class. Far too tempting to resist.

    • +2

Is that why it expired so quickly? OP wrote "Book from 3 - 16 Mar 2014"

      • -3

yep, airasia caught up on it, they're not dumb, even before i called, they already knew about this mistake that's why it was promptly taken down.

        • +1

its unlikely they would cancel them. There was no terms and conditions on the booking page saying anything about having to have been the target of an email campaign

        • -1

          that wont stop them..

        • +2

DW, one of my friends just flew off using a ticket purchased via this deal. So no , ignore the pessimists.
          :)

I can pretty much confirm . THE DEAL IS ON for those who got it.

        • thanks for the update. good news

        • Are you sure he booked this deal?

The pricing was only valid from the 17th of March.
I checked all dates before then when I booked my tickets and they were not $0 + tax like this one was.

        • ahh well, we are all flying. what about you?

        • lol, if you check my post below (the one you replied to) you will see that I have already flown =D

  • Darn it, missed out on it due to date issues and time, got home and it was shut down. Now thinking about it, when you book and paid, and was given the confirmation code does that mean it's valid for people who got in? I would think that if Air Asia did honour the purchase they would lose lots of money in the process. Me think this is up for a big cancellation for lots of people..

  • Please post any responses to cancelled tickets, be interested to know for next time

  • +5

Why would they cancel? They've taken my money and sent me a confirmed itinerary - it would be a PR nightmare if they did.

  • Anyone got any tips for where to stay in KL with kids?

    • Budget?

      • $AUD250 ish per night is ok. Would like a couple of bedrooms if doable. Kids are toddlers.

        • +2

ParkRoyal Serviced Suites KL is really great for families. They have a bunch of 1 and 2 bedroom serviced apartments, as well as smaller studio style apartments.

  • +1

If bookings were to be cancelled, I wonder whether travel insurance would cover rebooking flights of the same class? You've got your confirmed itinerary complete with reservation code and a credit card statement showing the transaction…

    • +5

lol … Im not sure "airline pricing error" would be covered as an eligible cancellation

I missed out on the deal, but hoping for the sake of ozbargain that all your seats are honoured!! (i get the feeling they will be)

  • Deal is still on via OP's link.

  • +1

Looks like the pricing has been fixed and is now live at the pricing that the promo deal was supposed to be at.

$232 Perth to KL Return Economy
$682 Perth to KL Return "Flat Bed Business"

Still has nothing on the $250 return deal.
For me whether I'll be disappointed but understand if they cancel my tickets.
I've booked fully refundable hotel accom.

And when I booked the flights I did it knowing full well that it was a pricing error.

  • +1

I am surprised that this deal has still racked up a few + even after the deal expired.
I don't see them cancelling. I actually telephoned them and they queried the price on the phone but still sent through my confirmation.
    Fingers crossed.

  • I booked the flight for the 23rd of this month. I havent booked any accommodation yet. But still I need to organise time off work. So I wont be very happy if they dont give me a better resolve than cancelling my tickets

  • Even with the pricing error being fixed, this still saved me over 100 dollars on a one-way flight back from KL so thank you OP :)

  • +1

Just an update for those that are still looking at this post.

Checked in right now so no cancellations. So thanks for the post OP.

And all those that got the tickets enjoy your holidays!!! I am waiting to board now.

  • Woohoo!! Thanks for the update jlogic. Enjoy your holiday!

  • +3

Also confirming that this deal is a go. Checked in waiting for my flight in "business" class.

    • great news, have a nice flight

    • awesome - thanks for letting us know…cant wait till I go in May!

Ok guys having just got on my return premium class flight with Air Asia I thought I would post up my thoughts. These are just in relation to the premium class and nothing with KL or the LCCT which would be almost the same irrespective of class.

    1) Seats are comfy. Not full flat, but angled flat as others have said. Having travelled in business class before on other airlines I would class it as “good”. Much better than domestic business, and some international routes still using recliner seating.

    2) You also get the reduction in noise benefit from sitting up near the nose of the plane, rather than in economy near the engines. That plus my Bose QC 15’s meant that I was in dreamland pretty quickly.

    3) Food is on par with economy class full service airlines. Don’t expect business class food, but you probably already knew that.

    4) No issues with 25kg luggage limit, priority check in, priority boarding and priority luggage. Just make sure they slap the priority luggage sticker on, as they may forget.

    5) It seems that row 1 is better than row 2 of premium. Heaps of space all the way to the bulkhead. Only downside is that the “seat back pocket” is so far away that it is hard to reach whilst seated. Row 2 has the same space, but half of it is under the “shell” of row 1’s seats. Can make for more limited leg movement space whilst you are fully laid back. Row 2 does have more storage options though, with storage space for mags and tablets on the seat back. All seats have a small storage location near your hips for water bottles etc.

    6) Service was good. Meals served first as soon as we hit cruising altitude (they did give option to serve later). Hot towel and water provided on boarding, as well as more water throughout the flight. Unlike full service airlines, alcohol, additional food, and additional drinks are charged for.

    7) Both the pillow and blanket were comfy and warm. No need to bring your own if you bring that kind of stuff on board planes.

    8) The power port (Its located near your knees, in the centre of the seats) charged up my phone and laptop with no issues, and without needing any adapters.

    And last but not least….

    9) Hard to wipe the shit eating grin off your face when you are on a plane, knowing that not only did you pay less than most in economy, but you also paid less than most of the premium class too.

It was point 9 that earned you my + John.
I imagine I'll be just the same - except I'll be looking at my fellow 'business' class passengers and whispering "Ozbargain?"

  • +1

Great to read the update John, Point 9 was also my favourite!

The countdown is on for us, only a week to go and we're off on our unplanned Easter break!

  • +1

Just posting my update as we'll.

This would be the deal of the year for me, flew out if Sydney, no issues with checking in, as an added bonus, I got handed an express pass to immigration and security screening as we'll.

Lay flat seats definitely will sour all my future trips from now on (except my return trip of corse

  • +1

Posting my update too, just returned from a trip to Malaysia

No issues checking in, forgot we were flying business class until we got up to the counter where the lady said 'Sir, you've got business class tickets, you should have come straight through'

John Stone above has described perfectly how flying business class felt, thanks mate. Very impressed with the airlines, will definitely fly with them again, business class hopefully ;)

Just returned from KL, had a good time. Great deal for an Easter getaway.

  • +1

My family and I have also just returned from our trip to KL.
    It was AWESOME!
We walked straight to the front of the check-in line, grinning like idiots the whole way.
The seats were fantastic. I usually struggle to sleep in planes but slept on both the outward and return legs.
OP you are an absolute legend - I wish I could give you 100 plus votes!
Man, am I ever glad I wasn't stuck up the back of the planes with the other shmucks.
If something like this ever comes up again I will be straight on it.

  • +2

Just back from the long weekend in KL. OP, many thanks for this deal!

Managed to keep the grin away just, but I'm sure I looked real smug!

Thoughts on the flight to KL:
Did walk straight up to the checkin counter, this was handy as there was quite a line forming. Priority through security and customs was a bit of a waste. Priority boarding was ok, still had to queue for a bit.
Seats were really good and I opted for my meal straight away then fell straight to sleep. On arrival it was really nice to get off first and have your checked in bags pretty much waiting for you. The LCCT is dirty, and we had a big walk from the plane to the terminal across the tarmac.

    Flight Back:
LCCT was painful this time, they're very passport paraniod (maybe after HM370) mine was aksed for 6 times at checkin, pre immigration, immigration, terminal security, gate security (where they held it under lights and quizzed everyone) and on entering the plane. No priority given with the huge queue at the gate.
Once on the plane it was very nice though
Spotted a super fat couple in the "hot seats" in the economy section behind me. Felt sorry for the poor bastard dealing with 10hrs of sweaty space encroachment, knowing he probably paid a lot more than I did.
Was good again to get the bags first. No priority through immigration as we had to declare some food.

    • Thank you OP as well, arrived this morning from KL. Felt weird considering I paid less than those in economy! Must have been on the same flight as guy above, passports were checked multiple times. Thankfully that terminal will be discontinued by next month.

      • Ha! I was looking around and wondering if any one else was an Ozbargainer. We had the middle two seats and there were a few younger looking people on either sides of us. I'm kinda pissed i didn't book a year worth of holidays with them now, flat beds everywhere!

This experience has ruined future air travel for me.

        • Hahaha probably the reason why they honored the bookings! Economy class is going to be painful next time.
