Just spent over an hour putting this post together, as it's not actually advertised anywhere, so I had to manually find & test the available dates. It's another amazing offer from Air New Zealand, and there's plenty of seats available.

*Gold Coast price for Auckland only. Christchurch far more expensive.

Travel must be started and completed within the following dates in 2014:

May 6 to June 25, July 29 to September 9, October 21 to December 2

Please note these fares allow 1x 7kg carry on bag, tea/coffee/water but no meal. Also, some flights to Christchurch are operated by Air NZ partner - Virgin Australia.

I hope I've been able to save some people some money here. Good luck!

Great deal, shame no love for Brisbane!

    • +2

Plenty of love, but at $298.

      • What dates did you search in? All I can see are $260-outbound and $218-inbound flights for those periods.

    • I am kinda used to it now. No budget airlines, cheap flights or many routes….

    • No love for Wellington as well. Not sure why Wellington always misses out. But appreciate the effort TA, awesome post.

    • BNE has bullshit F$&%^#* taxes. It's a shit airport yet they charge hefty taxes. Wonder why fares are always high. !!

      • They need to fund that second runway/airport somehow.

  • Very nice! I'm keen on a trip to Hawaii this year.. so hopefully something comes up pretty cheap!

    • Me too, but I can't justify the exorbitant flight prices they charge at the moment. Used to go for about $500 return

Thanx TA, appreciate the time you put in :-)

TA - you are the heart and soul of this site!

      Word.

Not bad, J* has pretty much the same prices, but AirNZ is a bit more comfy.
Shame flights to Queenstown are pricey.

    Edit: why the downvotes?

Buy $2500 worth of stuff and claim TRS and you got your self a free flight.

    • you better make sure you have enough time to claim it
last time i was there, the queue was over an hour long!

Jetstar also have similar/slightly cheaper deals. The departure times for the Air NZ flights are extremely early though. The Jetstar flights are slightly later, which imo make it the better option. Perfect time to book a snow trip! http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/home/new-zealand-south-island-s…

    • +3

Jetstar might be slightly better value too with 15kg checked baggage included.

      • Is this a new thing? Seems like all the literature I have found on their website and also other sites, including their fare rules didn't mention anything, but I see that they have $0 next to 15kgs checked luggage. Do you know if I will get that if I book through a third party site?

        • Not too sure actually. I just looked at some prices and as you said, it stated that $0 next to 15kg which I was surprised at.

    • The Jetstar flights I looked at left MEL at 11:50pm, arriving at 5:25am but that includes the time difference, so really, your body clock will be boarding a plane at midnight and disembarking at 3:30am. They wake you up about 45 mins before landing, so that means you've got the potential to sleep from about 12:15am - 2:45am.

You'd want to have someone waiting for you at the airport, or a hotel booked because when you arrive at 5:25am, you've really only had 2.5 hrs sleep and most people can't handle that well.

thanks Tightarse, I won't be booking this but I appreciate your efforts for us ozbargainers!!

    :)

    best wishes mate.

  • +2

Give you a plus for the effort you put in.

  • So when must these be booked in order to take advantage of these prices? Obviously the prices are available today if TA has been able to source these prices but how long will they be available for?

  • +3

Don't forget to get Aus GST refund through TRS and bring some duty free liquor home.

    • +1

Depends what you get, it may not be cheaper at all. For Austalian wine, Sydney airport duty free is more expensive than Dan Murphy. Get from New Zealand airport duty free instead. Australian wine are cheaper there.

    thumbs up for the effort

Thanks once again "Tightarse", you always seem to deliver these great deals. Your hard work putting this together is much appreciated. Thanks again and much respect!!!

  • Thanks for all your hard work mighty tighty.

  • Great find OP. Interestingly, if you reverse the direction (e.g. Auckland-Sydney return) for the same dates, there's no deal at all - $502 return.

    • Check out Jetstar also. we managed to get 2 x return flights Gold Coast to Auckland in beginning of May for $480 total after all fees and charges. Works out cheaper than what is populating on Air New Zealand site

  • Spending the time to spread the bargain love. A virtual beer, your way comes!! Up voted
