  • Seems like the keep warm function would use a lot more electricity then a normal hot water heater/storage device with keep warm, the kettle won't have enough insulation.

  • +1

I would buy kmart/target regular kettle for $7.5 if I need it. What do u expect fr a kettle?

    • +1

Plastic kettles distort and will leak when pooring as a result. They don't last.
Bought a kettle recently, and to be honest this does not sound all that bad. Temperature control, concealed element and stainless steel are good qualities. It looks fairly well made and designed. I'll give it a +

      • Not to mention less chemicals supposedly coming out of plastic when boiling. These extra features

can come in handy for some. See my lengthy detailed post below if you can be bothered reading :-)

  • Ordered one. Hope can get it as soon as possible.

  • I've had this for around 6 months. It's fairly good although we rarely use the keep warm function. Boils water quite quickly (but I'm comparing to a 4 yr old kettle…). No idea on energy usage, but the power bill isn't noticeably different

    • It should not use any more power than any other newish kettle as long as you compare boiling say half a

liter or more ( three to four cups ) in each kettle. If you only want to boil water for one or two cups,

(read bachelor like me, ( because not enough money left to spend on girlfriend, as I buy too many

electronic gadgets on this site and elsewhere, well, that's my excuse anyway )). As the minimum

recommended water levels varies from kettle to kettle, that is the main point of difference ( only

applicable to people wanting to boil water for one to two cups. If your kettle uses less watts of

power, it would draw that for longer in order to boil the same amount of water. Using the keep warm function

is another matter, and is much harder to compare. To do this, you need to compare usage of keeping it warm

compared to continuously re-boil the kettle. Get out your power usage meters, calculators, pen and paper,

some time to work out and your good to go. I hoop that makes sense to people here. I have too much time on my

hands today, so I thought to clarify this myth :-)

  • I have a similar kettle, Bellini, bought from Target ( I think this is their own supposed exclusive ( read

home brand )). Of course being an Ozbargainer I waited until a half price came up for this as I rarely pay RRR

price. On memory, I think I paid $ 39.99. As all I really wanted was a stainless steal, concealed element and

also had to a push button on handle to self open the lid ( yes I am particular with my needs of a kettle ).

For that price, this Bellini model was the cheapest fulfilling my needs. It also is electronic, with lot's of

buttons and features that I thought I did not need, not to mention could make it prone to failure I thought.

To my surprise, I started finding useful needs ( wants more like it ) for the warm to 40/60/80 degrees, as

that is handy for me to do dishes with because that saves me @ least 10 liters of water before I get even

lukewarm coming through ( not to mention a small amount of power too). One year on still going

strong, and very happy with my purchase. Other bonus is, if it did break, easy to exchange @ any

Target. Moral of this ( long winded, drawn out story ( true )), for some people, these newish

"Smart Kettles" could be advantages, don't pay more than $50 for them in my opinion. Cheers

  • I wonder how quiet these 'quiet boil' kettles are. Our current S/S kettle is too loud when the wife puts it on just as I'm watching some TV

    • Yeah, my pet hate too ( and I'm a bit hard of hearing :-). This model quotes a noise reduction of " 5-10 dB quieter than a comparable models without the ring " I have had experience with 3 different models of these "quiet boil" type of kettles, and as long as you don't expect miracles and keep it realistic, they do improve on the non quiet. I would say 5-10 dB reduction is correct, or in layman's terms, 20-30% less. Now that sounds like a special deal :-).
