Vodafone's March promotion — their $40 prepaid starter pack is now half price at $20, for those who wish to try (or get back) to Vodafone especially their 4G network. It comes with

  • 1GB data
  • $750 worth of Flexible Credit (excludes premium services, including premium TXT)
  • Unlimited standard TXT

Whether Vodafone suits you — well that depends. They actually got the best signal in my place (South East Sydney), but the on-going cost is a bit more than what I'm willing to pay so I'm sticking with Amaysim for now although my lounge is void of Optus signal. Do note that credit on Vodafone prepaid has 28 days expiry (what?!) and excessive data is super expensive at $2/MB.

ummm…this should be the standard price for Vodafail, even for its poor 4G.

  • Hasn't legislation caught up with this practice yet?
If "$750 worth of calls" can be included in a purchase of $20, then they're worth less than $20.

Isn't that how all the cap plan works since they were first marketed something like a decade ago?

Thanks scotty. +1 for extra information

  • Do you get $750 worth of call everytime you top up $40?

    "$750 worth of Flexible Credit"

    300MB for $5

Does that mean you can get 45GB of data if you can be bothered buying 150 data packs?
Or have they changed it so you can only buy data packs with real money?

    • Or have they changed it so you can only buy data packs with real money?

      I believe so, unfortunately.

$750 of flexible credit will now only buy you 375mb of data ($2 flexible credit per mb)

(in the past it would have bought 16gb which WAS great value)

pretty crappy value and not very flexible

      • Are there any funny money alternatives with the other carriers? Or even just any really good value data plans? (I'm thinking of going with Vodafone's $125 Prepaid Mobile Broadband deal.

  • can't activiate my pre-paid sim online… something wrong with the website. can't enter yyyy in date of birth
