Yamakasi 30" 2560x1600 S-IPS "Perfect Pixel" Monitor Approx $440 Delivered

180

Similar to this deal here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/130634 - however this one is a "perfect pixel" display so there's probably a better chance of getting a monitor with zero dead pixels.

Buy It Now price is US$389 delivered, which according to eBay is around AU$433. Adding CC conversions/fees, it probably gets closer to AU$440. I haven't purchased one so I don't know for certain.

The page states "limited quantity available". The exact number is anyone's guess. I guess this could be moved to the forums if the unknown quantity is an issue.

The pixel perfect deal is usually bogus. All they do is charge you more. If you end up with a good unit, then they keep the extra money. But if you end up with a pixel, they'll just refund you the differences. Since there's no actual 0 dead pixel policy, you're screwed if you get one that's under their dead pixel policy.

    • I bought a non-perfect pixel model and got no dead pixels. Even had a sticker on the box with "zero dead pixels". I was contemplating going for a pixel perfect model but I'm glad I didn't.

  • on a side note, the Yamakasi 290 IPS panorama looks interesting. Just wonder what the size would look like in person though…

    • its $377 or about $400 in AUD

but at that price youd be stupid not to pay a bit more for the 30"

You get more width than the 29" and you wont get cropping issues since its a 16:10 resolution with more vertical pixels

Trust me. Vertical pixels make all the difference.

Im resisting every urge to buy 2 more 30" monitors But this thing is so big that i dont even need multi monitors

LED vs CCFL though. If these are anything like the Dells, they're bloody heaters. Winter is coming though…

Now if only the Sparta 300s were this cheap.

i am typing this using one of these screens now

i cant go back to anything less than 30 inches now lol

Also i paid $460 for my non perfect pixel one over a year ago.

For a while the prices were insane around $680-$800

So if you can grab one at $440AUD, do so

I only got 1 dead pixel that i didnt even notice until 6 months in because theres just so many pixels in these screens

Even after i found it. i hardly ever notice it.

Right now because OZB is mostly white. the dead pixel aint even visible

  • I noticed that this one is using Dual Link DVI port. However, currently I only got an ultrabook with 2 of my 27" monitors supported by onboard HD4000 via HDMI and VGA ports.

Anyone know are there any monitors with HDMI ports and whether HD4000 can support something over full HD, especially with 2 monitors.

    Thanks!

    • theres a multi model which i have

      and no

      • I read it in some forums. Most said HDMI n HD4000 do not support but here http://www.itproportal.com/2013/06/04/how-to-run-a-wqhd-moni… which confirms it even working on VGA at lower refresh rate 40Mhz

        • Generally for them to work with a laptop you need displayport & an active dp-dual link dvi dongle. This was the only way I could get my 2650x1440 qnix to with with my HP 8560w - the dvi ports on my docking station were only single link.

6 dead pixel in various areas is considered normal for this monitor and not a fault.

  • Will this work with latest MacBook Pro Retina (with dedicated graphics)?

  • Oooof, that's a good price. I've been so close to buying either one of these or the highly regarded QNIX 27", which while having an inferior 16:9 aspect ratio does have a ripper panel that can over clock quite reliably.

  • I got screwed buying a 27" Shimian on ebay. Ended up with a 15cm wide white strip down the middle. I contacted the seller who new the English language existed, but no idea how to use it. The end result was it got sent back ($120 postage :(, then nothing happened, more back and forth emails, then contacted PayPal and they ended up favouring the seller. Lesson learnt >:(

Yeah - never EVER send back an item and THEN start a Paypal dispute.

      • It might have been the other way around, this was about 2 years ago so memory is a little hazy.

disputes sometimes can be like russian roulette with your wallet.
i have escelated disputes on paypal, only for them to simply favour the seller sometimes without any interaction at all. im sure there are employees that dont even read the disputes.

Theres an aussie exporting the overclockable 27" monitors. He's out of stock at the moment but it's by far the cheapest and least hassle. Also claims that monitors sold are perfect pixels.

    http://emaxeon.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=25&p…

He also sells the catleap 2b logic boards at half the price U.S shops are selling them for.

    • Okay…so I'm a bit suspicious of these monitors.

How can a 27" IPS QHD screen that is overclockable be only $300?

      Why aren't they more popular?

6ms GTG isn't bad for a large IPS panel either…

      Whats the catch?

Edit: Never mind, found a 1500+ page long overclockers thread that explained the drawbacks pretty well.

  • Man that listing is scary with all it's warnings and exclusions.

  • I used to worry more about dead pixels, until I realized that they look just like the dust I almost always have on my screen (should really wipe it down more often…) Stuck pixels are another story

  • I have a Dell u3011 which doesn't get enough use, how do these compare?
Edit - I've already asked this one :)
