PER-DPS (Bali) Air Asia $149 1way - $214.43 rtn / Price Beat: Jetstar $134.10 1way - $192.09 rtn

I've been watching out for a $149 fare and despite the sale dates saying these fares have been on sale for three days, a whole bunch of seats appear to have been made available today - where there were no sale fares available earlier, this evening you can pick and choose your flights.

Booking Period : 10 March 2014 - 16 March 2014
Travel Period : 10 March 2014 - 31 May 2014
Travel Notes- Advanced booking required.
- Fares are not available during embargo period.

A couple of tips to secure your seat at the above price:

  1. Save $15 on your return sector by booking each sector separately rather than a return flight. Air Asia appears to charge more in AUD for the return sector than if you were booking a one-way DPS-PER in IDR

    • DPS-PER as a return sector AUD 79.00
    • DPS-PER as a one-way sector IDR 664,000 = AUD 64.43 (if charged to 28 Degrees or equiv. no fee c/card)

  2. Beware Air Asia's baggage charges when arranging the Price Beat Guarantee:

    • Jetstar CSR tried to tell me Air Asia's baggage charges were taxes and charges. Stuck to my guns and finally got her to realise it was baggage that had inflated the fare, not taxes.

  3. It's worth using the Price Beat Guarantee, not just for the 10% discount over the Air Asia fare, but also for the 10kg carry-on allowance out of Perth!

Good post and advice. Yes Airasia do increase the return sector if booking a return on one itinerary, whereas Virgin and Jetstar discount (the return) if booked on one itinerary. One more tip is pay in IDR and do not convert to AUD when paying-save a few more dollars. I searched Airasia Perth to Phuket (one way) and noticed also that they put on an extra $20 compared to booking Perth-KL and KL-Phuket individually. I only have carry on so not concerned about being inconvenienced by collecting luggage and rechecking in. When calling the Jetstar price guarantee line on previous occasions, they have never charged a credit card fee (saving $8.50 per person per sector) Airasia accept payment by paypal, hence no similar fee. I looked at returning to Perth in May after Phuket/KL and noticed Jetstar, who once had good flight times, are now shit times apart from one, in regards to the date I searched.

Mate i fly all the time to kl and return its just rotten luck if something like that happens. If your times up not much you can do about it its fate. Now to book some flights kl to gold coast.

    • so if one of australian airline got accident, you just ride your donkey for travelling right? coz one of the airline has accident from one country then all other airlines will be not safe as well.

oh yeah FYI in case u don't know, jetstar and qantas do their maintenance in malaysia, also some of their pilot are from malaysia as well, do u ask the pilot nationality before you board the airplane? you shouldn't fly with any airlines
