Can you use the '$12 Groupon Credit' to buy another '$12 Groupon Credit' ???

    • +3

      Do you ever sleep, JV?

      • +50

        I might miss a bargain.

    • It just might work. I'll try it in 3 days.

    • +2

      yes you can, just did!

      • So you can get infinite free movie tickets ?

        • +4

How did he buy it when the credit won't be available until 3 days later?
Edit: @jv, it is not free when you at least have to pay for the first one… Might end up $0.0000001 per ticket but not free still.
Edit2: sorry, I see the grouon credit as worthless as sometimes they gave me free $10 and I couldn't find what to buy.

        • "limit 2 vouchers per person"

        • Yeah I'd like to know that too…

        • +1

Edit: @jv, it is not free when you at least have to pay for the first one…

you can sell the $12 credit (or what you buy with it) to recoup your investment when you are sick of watching movies.

        • i had referral credit which i used. it's limited to 2 so can't buy infinite amount.

but would be good if you use this deal to refer friends. extra 10 for you.

it has short expiry so better decide if you want to buy anything with the credit first.

        • -1

          So no instant credit?

        • $12 Groupon credit will be available in your account three business days after purchase

  • imax deal is already long over

    • +3

      Still on for another week.

      • Neil, I'm seeing this imax deal as "suspended"? There's no "Buy It" button, nor does it says it's finished. Can anyone else confirm or find a working link to the imax deal?

  • -1

why would they need our mobile number for? (Sending a text to confirm we have received the credit , seams like a excuse )

    • I didn't even get asked to put in my number upon check out, anyone else experience this?

  • -4

Ticket valid to 17 June 2014… Will miss out block buster movies

    • +5

      Let's see:

      • 03/04 Captain America: The Winter Soldier
      • 17/04 The Amazing Spiderman 2
      • 15/05 Godzilla
      • 22/05 X-Men Days Of Future Past
      • 29/05 Maleficent

And there are some others in between like 22 Jump Street, Lego Movie, A Million Ways To Die In The West, Transcendence, The Raid 2, Noah and Pompeii.

Yep, there is A LOT to watch during those dates.

      • You can add to that list,

        27/03 Mr Peabody and Sherman
        03/04 The Lego Movie
        10/04 The Muppets Most Wanted

      • +2

Holding out for The Raid 2, the first one was epic!!

      • -2

        I meant Transformers 4

  • Groupon seems to be mostly lifestyle and food deals… not really my taste..

    • +22

you don't eat and you don't have a life ???

      • I do, for both, but not much seems worthwhile from Groupon…sorry…

    • lol, what do you want? they have travel deal also.

i dont buy stuff, can usually buy it cheaper on ebay!

    • +1

Sounds like you don't find their selection of deals palatable

  • Having the groupon credit valid only to 31 March 2014 is a bit of a killer for me as the very short decision time limits my choices to whatever is available during that period.

That being said, I'm sure some OzBargainers will post some good alternatives for us.

Every time you sign up for Hoyts Rewards for $10 you get a free movie ticket.
    No booking fees.

    • You also need to pay $10 for some "information pack".

      • I signed up again yesterday for $10 for a free movie ticket.
Not sure what you mean by paying for an information pack.
Use a disposable email address when signing up.

        • +6

It means you paid money for a free movie ticket.

        • -6

This is available any time and there's no booking fee. Nevermind.

        • +4

You paid $10, which is not the same as "free".

        • -4

          But, but… $10 < $12
          </facepalm>

  • i am unable to recommend to earn $10? would anyone know the fix?

  • So in 3 days time you can buy another $12 Hoyts movie ticket using your $12 Groupon credit. So effectively you can purchase 2 x Hoyts movie tickets for $12 which is a great deal. Next cheapest option would be purchasing through Optus Movies which would cost $20 for 2 tickets.

    • +1

There is a risk involved If they are sold out before you receive your credit. Better think of something you might want to buy first otherwise you will just spend the credit on some junks before it expires on 31 March.

    • [Deleted]

    • I don't think you are able to purchase the Hoyts movie tickets again using your Groupon credit because there is a maximum of 2 tickets per account.

  • Did anyone buy 2 in one transaction and get 2 different comfirmations ?

    • +2

Just recieved a special offer from entertainment book $11 lol.

  • Can you apply 2 or more vouchers to one transaction on groupon? Basically if I buy 2 plus 2 sets (myself and my wife), can I apply all four vouchers to a single largish purchase?

There are actually two questions implicit to my statement above:
    1. Can I apply two vouchers that I purchased to an item => than $24
    2. Can I use a voucher someone else purchased?

Would be good to know as I don't want to buy these vouchers and discover in forced to buy four items to use up the four vouchers.

    Regards
    Daniel

$12 Groupon credit will be available in your account

      1. Can I apply two vouchers Groupon credits that I purchased to an item => than $24

I would expect yes. As it is credit.

      1. Can I use a voucher Groupon credit someone else purchased?

      No.

      1. Can I use a movie voucher someone else purchased?

      Yes

      • +1

In my experience, Groupon does not let you redeem more than one code per purchase.
That way, they force you to spend more money by having to buy more than one deal.

        • +2

This is not a code that needs to be redeemed. This is credit that is available to offset the cost at checkout.
However, this may be what you mean, and I have not had two credits available to apply before, so my expectation may be incorrect.

        • Yeah thanks for your thoughts guys, that was my conundrum. If I get two $12 credits, I might be 'forced' to get two things and end up paying a lot more for something I don't really want just for the movie tickets. If I could just roll them all up then great, just go and get that one $48+ item and be done with it, with just $12 to apply, well, there were not too many things at that price point I really wanted. :-(

          Daniel

          My expectation is confirmed.

Can you use the tickets after 5pm Saturday?
    Can't find any reference.

    • +2

In the HIGHLIGHTS section under the deal, it mentions that it is valid for all sessions, 7 days a week.

  • Just so that I'm clear (and for everyone's benefit as well), if I get 2 x Hoyts for $24, I still get $12 credit right?

    • +2

      2x$12 credit.

      • Good to know, thanks for that clarification.

      • But can you that 2x $12 for one groupon deal (not likely)? Anyone tried?

        • i think you can, not show when it changed but previously i could only use one lot of $10 referral credit, but just last week i had 2 lots and was able to use $14 to offset the purchase and had $6 left over for next time.

So if it works as referral credit i think you can use both.
I'm guessing it'll need to be on the same account and can't use some else's credit on the one purchase of $48+.

  • One possible option to prolong the credit is to use it to buy a $50 Groupon gift card. Not sure if that would work.

    http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/national-deal/groupon-goods/…

If it does work, this means spending more, so will be useful only if you do intend to spend $50 on Groupon by the end of the year. Potentially $50 for $50 groupon gift card and 2 X Hoyts tix.

    • yes this does work, i also checked with them before doing this what happens if you do not use the whole voucher in one purchase, apparently unused money will convert to store credit

  • That's weird cant seem
    To purchase the voucher!?

    • The Sydney URL had sold out. Updated with National URL.

  • Can the credit be used for IMAX offer? Also if I purchase 3x$12 =$36 will I receive $36 or 3 x $12 and need to eb used 3 times?

  • Movie vouchers received just now by email. Still waiting for $12 groupon credit.

    • Same here, still waiting for the credit. Maybe it's delayed because I entered invalid mobile number?

      • Credit goes into your groupon account so shouldn't depend on your phone number. I am still waiting. Lotta BS.

        • credit will be available in your account three business days after purchase.

This deal was posted on 17th, so assuming you bought it on the day, then you still have a day to wait. Patience grasshopper.

        • Credit came through finally after checking every few hours. Bought another $12 Hoyts ticket. Should be interesting to see what happens with the $12 credit.

  • Purchased on 16/3 still waiting for Groupon Credit…

  • Just purchased 2 $12 tickets, now just hoping next week there will have IMAX over again, that's the main reason I purchased these besides the Hoyt's.

  • +1

Will confirm you can use your $12 credit ( I only purchased one ) to purchase again! Transaction just completed and confirmation email received!

  • +2

Used the credit that i earned for buying this deal to buy the deal again… it works… So for $12 I now have 2 Hoyts tickets and $12 in credits… NICE!!

  • -2

Lol based on this you can pretty much purchased unlimited Hoyts tickets with the credits and generate more credits lol

    • +2

  • If anyone bought 2 straight up, can you confirm that both credits can be applied to one purchase?

    • One credit of $24 is now active.

      19/03/2014 $24.00 31/03/2014

    • +2

Yes bought 2 tickets, $24 credit can be applied to one deal

  • Nice, purchased my $12 credit yesterday. Takes 3 days fro credit to be credited, then il buy another $12.

  • -1

No you cannot purchase same deal again cause limit is 2, the system detects you have bought before, who ever said you can are full of it.

  • Was going to purchase the Veho Z1 isolating earbuds for $12.95 with the credit until I read the reviews

    http://www.amazon.com/Veho-VEP-003-360Z1-P-Noise-Isolating-E…

  • Anyone have any suggestions on what to use the credit for? [Sydney based]

  • Still awaiting my second Hoyts voucher and credit to be applied…

    • Got the second voucher, now just waiting for the credit…

  • +1

The credit expired at 12.01am today, but should be valid until the end of today.
I called Groupon customer service and they acknowledged that this was a problem.
They indicated they would re-instate the credit with expiry date of 7th April. However they said it would take 12-72 hours to appear on the account.

    • Same here.I contacted them via online form.Hope they will re-instate it.

      • yeah they did for me. rectified within 7 hours of contacting via online form.
