3 Nights Accommodation for Two People

Not a good deal for families.

  • +4

    It's a deal for two people, it's not a family deal…. Duuuhh

Not sure why they are showing Sovereign Hill then and most visitors are families.

      • +3

I know. Next thing you know, people without children will be wanting to go to Dreamworld as well. Society in decline.

        • +1

Dont quiet see your point, Are you all saying you can only go to Sovereign Hill if you have children.. If thats the case somebody had better tell all the busloads of people that are arriving daily that!

        • +1

yeah, those bus load of people are mostly chinese tourist and they got their ticket and stay from tour provider in China already.

        • Think your alittle mis guided on all of this. Sovereign Hill get its vistors from all walks of life.

I see it as a good deal, thanks OP, Ballarat is a nice place to visit, with or without kids.

I don't think the deal includes the entry costs to Sovereign Hill… and having just been there last week, it's $47 per adult just to get in, but worth it if you plan on spending the whole day seeing all the activities and performances. You can also get your ticket stamped at the post office inside or at most Ballarat hotels so you can use that same ticket to get into Sovereign Hill again the next day without having to pay, so you can take your time over two days if you want to.

If you're in Ballarat, check out Kryal Castle, particularly if you're into medieval things. The maze is out of action, but there's still heaps to see and do and a great place to take the kids (well, maybe not to the torture chamber).

Another great place is the Wildlife Park. If you get there early and stay for all of the tours, you can get up close to most of the animals (well, except for those that may want to eat you).

I wouldn't even call Ballarat a country town any more. It's huge. If only we had something like that here in SA!

But yeah, $229 is a good price for 3 nights. I think we paid around that for 2 nights. If you're planning a driving holiday from Adelaide to Melbourne, The Grampians and Ballarat are must see locations.
