    This is not just cruising, it s a whole package inclusive of airport pick up and overnight stay at 5 star hotel.

    This Starlight cruise is also of five star standard, you cant get any of that league for 180 USD for 3 Day cruising.
    If you find one, inform me, i will offer you a free trip of that cruise for either your personal use or friends and relatives. :-)

  I'm going to Vietnam at Xmas and looking out for a Halong deal.

  But breaking this down it's not good value - particularly pp.

  A room in that hotel (which is 4.5 star btw not 5) is about $175 per night.

  The junks cruises are typically about $350 per night per room. The cheaper fares advertised are per person and work out about the same and they all seem to include Hanoi pick ups and meals on the boat.

  To book this deal separately for 2 people would be $525 saving about $200. Considering the price of food in Hanoi that's not a bargain.

    You are right about the price range. But let us be fair,shall we have a look at this particular case?

    Hanoi De L'Opera, (they are having 5-star certificate given by the in-charge authority and is brand themselves as 5-star to the partners), it is minimum 205 USD ( tax inclusive, no refund, for 1 night at Deluxe Room for two.

      Except that the hotel room is $175 for the Deluxe King room. $194 for an executive room.

      Can't comment on the price of the starlight cruise as they don't advertise their prices (and so I'd never book with them) but their cruises INCLUDE the transfers from Hanoi so that transfer price is just made up.

      Even at your prices $205 + $505 + $60 + $20 = $790. A 'saving' of about $60. Unshockingly as the transfer price is included as part of the cruise, then that's irrelevant effectively meaning you're selling the tour at retail.

      Come back to me when you have a real deal. I'm an actual buyer for 6 people wanting to go to Halong on 24 December (return 25 December). Right now I'm not seeing the value.

        I dont see the De L' Opera selling publicly 175 USD for Deluxe King room,
        if you have already looked at Agoda, you will see Deluxe twin room hotdeal ccprepaid no refund is available at 179 USD ++ (5% tax and 10% service charge).

        Perhaps that price on Agoda is only for Australians because it certainly is that price including taxes for us.

        Simply fact is you're not competitive and I can't see how you're claiming 36% off. The numbers don't add up.

        The public rate for Starlight is 505 USD.

        The transfer and airport pick up of 80, administration fee and VAT tax, of 38 USD more.

        Making it all in 998 USD for 2 people (public rate).

        For Australians the prices include all taxes and charges. The site specifically states "Included in room price:Service charges 5%,Hotel tax 10%" next to each item.

        But I just had a look when I copied and pasted that sentence now you've got a bargain. The price just went up to $1400 per night.
