  • According to customer service they had a new web backend go live this morning which is why stock levels are screwed online. Was also told that clearance items can't be ordered online and this is listed as a clearance item

Staff at Chaddie told me they had "all" bought them

Price back to $99 online. Lucky I picked up one earlier toady.
Wonder if people who reserved earlier today for pickup later will still be paying the cheaper price or get stung with having to pay $99.

Had it in my cart, got the payment error, went back to the cart, now $99. Not happy.

No physical stock at OW Glebe or Lewisham.

  • Is this worth getting? Is it clunky? Read a lot of mixed reviews. Officeworks Punchbowl is holding one for me to pick up tonight. And if they've changed the price in-store to $99, I will demand $74.25.

  • One can argue bait and switch, right? I'm getting mine for $75 whether they like it or not

  • Excellent!! Held off just long enough to snap up one of these!!

Where you ask.. Hervey Bay.. still had at least 12 left when I was there…

  • ridiculous how they just switched the price. I would've picked one up straight away

  • Page gone now.
    Very over, I would say.

    • Still there for me, on chrome mobile.

Tried to get this about 8 times at $74, not sure I want it any more at $99..

I've been hanging out for an HDD but always seem to miss them on here.

  • Ringwood and Bayswater have stock. Just in case someone happens to be around there.

    • my friend just pick one up, they still honouring the 74……

    • Were they marked as $74, or did you have to ask for it?

      • Marked as $74.25

Told y'all it was a scam.

  • Ascot Vale still has stock if anyone is still looking for one. They had the ticket out for $74.25.

  • Picked up the last one from, yarraville/westgate (vic), Caroline Springs online says in stock, visited them… none. Only the dummy box on the hook, advise you call any store before just dropping in.

Back to $99, no deal. Rather buy a 2TB WD Ultra Passport for ~$130.

  • I managed to pick up 2 for $74.25/each this morning from OW Epping Store. Cheers.

    • in sydney?

        oops. Epping Vic.

  • Picked mine up last night for $74.25 at OW Punchbowl. Great buy. Nice and compact. Only beef I have about it is the USB chord is a bit short.

  • Btw, has anyone had the guts to open up the case to see what model hard drive is inside?

    • Just use a standard hard drive reporting utility, no need to open it.

      • SeaTools for Windows is complete useless didn't give me any useful information.

I risked getting a virus by running SIW portable (a virus scan on virustotal.com shows the app is infected with 'Packed/PECompact' and 'HW32.CDB.63d3') and hoping it's only a false negative.

Anyway, SIW gave the following model number for this hard drive as:
        ST1500LM006 HN-M151RAD

This website indicates the drive inside is a Samsung SpinPoint M9T: http://rml527.blogspot.com.au/2010/09/hdd-platter-database-s…

          Thanks.
Getting disk info shouldn't be too tricky. No sweat, there are heaps of utilities that will show you.
Heres a simple good free one from the makers of CCleaner:
          http://www.piriform.com/speccy
or you can just grab disk info from Windows like this:

        • HWiNFO as stated above gives model number. Its a 9.5mm 1.5tb drive so may be worth keeping as they are usefull for gaming consoles, laptops and other devices that can only fit 9.5mm high drives.

          Internal HDD Specs

        • It's MUCH slimmer than my older 1TB Expansion. I would say it's a 9.5mm drive.

  • Hi all! Can someone upload the docket of the purchase? I would like to price match with jb hifi! Thanks all!

    • +1

Do JB price match clearance items?

  • Thanks OP, picked one up yesterday arvo at the Malaga OW :)

  • Just for information, this model is the STBX1500301.
It has the same slim, box-shape as the other current expansion portable drives. It must be a limited or special production or something; it's not listed on their website, and is still available only from JB Hi-Fi (although not at a good price).
Hopefully stores will start stocking the new 2TB STBX2000401 soon…
