edit: Grats superforever for out-jousting me by 7 seconds

  • does anybody have any idea if OW will do price match? any guess/exp??

    • +2

Of course they will. They have it listed for $288. Take a printout of the shopping square ad down and they will take %5 off making it $189

      • Thank you danj303!!! I will try now!!

        • Uhhh OW stocks the 32GB model. SE's offer has 16GB written all over the page.

One of those tricky dicky deals, but if it works, do report back.

        • +1

Did it work mate? I thought OW only matches local stores with a shop front.

        •  I thought OW only matches local stores with a shop front.

OW will match online store prices as they also have an online store! But you have to add shipping on top, unless the store you're matching has a shop front within a certain distance!

Others have said that it's different to what OW have on offer, so it most likely won't be honoured anyway!

      • +1

+ SHIPPING! OW will charge the shipping price on top of the discounted price!

Edit: The easiest way to do it with OW is to calculate the shipping cost on the page and then print it out with this included on the print out! It's gonna save you 10 minutes while the person looks it up online!

        • +3

But sometimes you get lucky and they don't bother about the shipping cost.

        • +2

The Officeworks that I go to (Alexandria/Lewisham) will always look the item up online on the competitor's website because they're aware that some people are tricky dickies and will try to get a price match on a different colour/size/year so it really depends on your luck. :/

      • "Take a printout of the shopping square ad"

Except you want to make sure its Shopping Express. Imagine going into OW and saying Shopping Square had the deal only to be red faced when the OW person looks it up on the SS website. :)

        • Good point, my mistake :-)

      • I think that is a different model with 32 GB memory, No Officeworks Pricematch with that one.

      • Shopping square sells grey imports so is unlikely for OW to price match.

    • Do they stock the 16GB version? If not then no. Might depend on who you get- some are very picky, some just price match without checking too carefully. The 32GB version is $325.

  • +1

I have the older version….but for $200….I want to buy….damn it. Don't know what to do.

    • I'm in the same boat. Anyoneone wanna buy my 2012 to offset cost ;)

      • +9

Absolutely… But are you sure you want to sell it to another OzBargainer???

        • Yeah id say an offer of $18.46 shipped would be the best you'd get.

        • i'll offer 19$ :D

        • $20 is my final offer.

    • +1

I'm also tempted because my current Nexus's fram is cracked and a very small part has falled off (the silver rim bit)

It will only get worse :P

    • If one of you want to sell the 2012 model, I'm willing to buy it. Send me a pm.

  • just bought one, but im thinking of cancel it to price match at officeworks or not? :(

    • +1

I think OW only have the 32GB version, so price match may not work.

      • yeh, i just check it again. it s 32gb version. i was thought it s 16gb for $288 . im saving $80 :D

        • If you bought the 32GB version for $199 + delivery you would be saving about $80. Since you bought the 16BG version instead, it would be less than $80. Nonetheless it's a great price at $199.

  • Wow. Great price!!

  • Sometimes people get them to pm deals like these, just comes down to the person you get.

  • Does this one has 4G LTE?

    • +2

4G LTE Tablet that also Full HD for $199, not even China Tablets like Ainol with at $199. May be in 2015 :D

      • It did mentioned inside the spec page. So I just want to clarify.

  • +1

I dont see 4G mentioned? The spec page on shopping square says optional 4G LTE ?

According to Google only the 32gb models have 4G LTE - https://www.google.com.au/nexus/7/

    • It is under the specification page:

      Network Standard

      DC-HSPA+ UL:42 Mbps/DL:5.76 Mbps
      LTE UL:100 Mbps/DL:50 Mbps
      3G :
      WCDMA :
      850/1900/2100
      2G :
      850/900/1800/1900,
      4G:
      LTE:
      700/800/850/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600*4
      • SE just copy and paste.

        • I believe you are incorrect.. this model DOES NOT have 4G.

          Below obtained from - http://www.techradar.com/au/news/phone-and-communications/mo…

Like the previous generation, there isn't a 16GB LTE model of the Nexus 7 available. That has been restricted to the $229 WiFi-only version.

Also note - But you may not even want to go the 16GB route. As we pointed out in our Nexus 7 review, this base model will only have 10GB of useable storage because the onboard software takes up 6GB.

        • Can we use it as a phone with the 4G LTE?

  • Anyone have experience using a stylus on one of these? I've got the 2012 version and it's somewhat OK, though my guess is this won't be much better. Pity Samsung are the only ones that sell with a build in stylus, and they haven't released a high res 8" yet :/

    • Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.

Not sure when it's supposed to release in Australia, though. Haven't seen it in any Aussie shops, but Kogan has it for about $450.

      • -1

The battery life not that fantastic as compared to ipad mini 2.

        • No, it's not. Build quality isn't as nice, either. But it does have rather impressive hardware, and a very nice screen. And isn't as expensive as the Mini 2.

I'm still holding out for Nexus 8 announcement.

      • It won't be released in Australia.

        • Really? That's pretty disappointing.

        • It won't be released in Oz. I bought one from unique mobiles for $397 and after 5 days (with express shipping) it hadn't shipped. I also read all the negative reviews of the company so I cancelled my order and bought the galaxy note 10.1 2014 from TGG.

Best thing abt the pro is the screen and the hancom office suite.. The latter I want so bad!

      • It'd be nice, but the Tab doesn't come with the pen - I'm not sure if that means you could use one of the active pens from a Note with it. Without the pen to me it's just a more expensive and more restrictive variant of the Nexus.

    • it's ok, just like your fingers but a bit more accurate for targeting smaller icons.
My stylus leaves marks on screen though.

    • Lenovo's thinkpad tablets have a built in stylus but may be outside of your price range.

  • Just wish this thing had a MicroSD slot, that kills it for how I use phones/tabs - I'm guessing 11GB useable storage (not counting 2GB to install apps into) correct?

If that isn't an issue though it's a fantastic deal.

    • Some people it isn't an issue, plus you can always use a usb otg to increase space if you really wanted to.

    • I had the 16gig version of the older nexus 7 and didn't run out of room ( with an OTG and usb) But when I bought the 2013 model I paid the extra and got the 32gig one. But this is a great price and would have got me if I didn't have one already. By the way they are fantastic units.

  • Great deal for 16gb. Anyone know what's the best price in the market for 32gb atm?

  • +1

Thinking of getting one, such a good price! How do you guys make use of a tablet, whilst already having a laptop and a good smartphone? I just fear that after the initial 'Ooooh new piece of tech' period I might not use it much

    • +1

Likewise, too many gadgets! I find I only use my ipad to play a game or video for my little one, or maybe in bed! Otherwise the phone covers 90% of net usage, the comp for actual work and a bit of net, and I could just about sell my laptop as new!
Ps. Love the name… GO BLUES!

      • +1

I'm fairly similar, appears to be coming up as out of stock for me- so decision made on my behalf!
Haha thanks, hopefully 4 quarter performance this week against the tigers!

    • that was my initial thought. I've had mine for 3 months..the larger screen than the smart phone and compact size means is more comfortable to use in the bed/shed/kitchen.

Basically it's good for carrying around and for checking on something quickly but important such as emails, bank accounts, weather and specials on OZbargain ;)

the onscreen keyboard is comfortable enough for the average sized fingers.

    • Guess it depends on how good your phone is but having a fast 7 inch device that can fit in a pocket is very, very handy. Mine gets lots of use.

  • OOS!

    Hi guys,

Thanks for supporting this deal, there will be More stock coming in tomorrow, one lot in the afternoon, one lot in the evening.

    Cheers
    SE

    • Is it going to be just 16GB Wifi only versions?

Also these aren't reconditioned are they?

      • only 16GB version
and they are all brand new

        • can we still place an order now? or do we have to wait for this afternoon?

    • I thought there was mention of this being internet capable above?? Or this is only wifi ? Abit confused as I don't keep up with asus - is it the 4g LTE model only that has this available, and this is not that?

  • Its not out of stock at all. You can still place an order at http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/asus-nexus-7-quad-core…

    • No you can't.

    • There is no "add to cart" button on this page.

The message when trying to checkout after selecting item from the promotions page is "Sorry. We don't have enough 'NEXUS7-1A049A' in stock to fulfill your order. Please change the qty on order in your shopping cart to a lower number and click update. Then try to checkout again."

  • +1

Store Rep can you do a similar deal on the 32 GB 4G Nexus 7?

  • Would like to buy one but can't without a buy button..
When are these back up again?

  • +1

Was able to order one half an hour ago, try again now

  • I added to my cart then it says not enough quantity during the checkout :(

  • +1

sold out again :( any more stock?

    • i'm just waiting and refreshing

  • Is it possible to make phone calls from this.

  • Managed to get one at about 1300 I think, good deal. If it's anywhere near as good as my Nexus 5 I don't think I'll ever buy another bloated manufacturer phone/tablet.

The reps post earlier says they'll be releasing more stock in the evening, not sure what time that'd be though.

  • +1

How about a deal on the 32GB model too?

  • ETA on new stock?

    • +2

should have more stock adding this late afternoon and hopefully the coming days.

      • this afternoon would be great!

      • Thanks!

      • How can we know when more stock is added?

  • Will officeworks pricematch when it's out of stock?

    • +4

This is the 16, officeworks sell the 32.

  • +1

More stock added, just bought one successfully.

  • Yep just got one too :). It says out of stock now.

Do we know what build date these ones are?

  • it's no longer $199, it's 299 now… what's happening?
    =(

  • As a non-techie, can someone answer chloden's question for me too, please? i.e. Can u make phone calls on this?
(For future reference as it now seems to be $299)

    • Yes - but not over the normal 2/3/4G telephone system.

You need to use something like Skype, and connect via wifi or bluetooth.

  • Received mine already just in time for the weekend-very quick postage especially for a rural area. Thanks

    • are you able to confirm it has 4G LTE?
