I'm thinking of getting One but not sure if I have to wail til April One for the new One or just get the old One for my loved One.

    For HTC one buyers:

THE OP QUOTED: "Sorry for the crappy photo, that's what you get with HTC one."

The old One and the new One both get incredible low-light performance. Definitely something wrong with that photo, exposure down too low probably.

i got a HTC One and yes the camera is pretty bad quality, it is a 5MP camera with so called megapixel technology

however the phone is awesome mine lasts about 4 days off 1 charge

        • @mp3police - Your expert opinion counts for much.

  • Can't see any stock for G2 anywhere in Melbourne.

I don't really think this is a good deal as HTC phones have a history of dropping to $600ish quickly after release. Could be better off waiting a few months to see where the HTC One M8 pricing goes. Hard to know because of the recent AUD adjustment though.

    • +3

This One wasn't under $600 in the last year till today, and that was even during the period when the Aud was a lot stronger. Doubt you'll see the m8 under $600 anytime soon, unless its doesn't sell well.

    • +3

On the contrary I have not seen the One much below $700 from Aus retailers and it's around a year after release. Still $696 at JB.

    • +3

Agree with previous 2 replies. I have no idea where you had seen it below 600 within first 6 months let alone 12 months of release.

The LG G2 for $517 would be my pick since it has the 5.2"screen and huge battery capacity, but I'd love to see people buy HTC phones if it keeps them going. Both are excellent options and still pretty current in processors, screens etc.

Since the LG is sold out in Sydney, it's a non deal anyway. Did anyone get that deal - or this HTC One, in Sydney?

    • The HTC One, whilst a great phone was released with an older processor. I guess it's battery use wasn't as efficient, but it's really only an issue for those who want latest and greatest.

  • I wish every phone released had a vanilla Android version alongside it.

    • Not every phone has (unless you count custom roms), but HTC One did have it. It's called Google Play Edition. Samsung S4 also has such Play Edition, and the new One (M8) have this edition as well.
Will be looking out for Play Edition price specials :)

They never came to Australia, though. I'm sure there are ways to get it, but ergh. Would rather the easier legit way.

Hey I think the HTC One has a great Camera "for a phone" :D I love my HTC One but the camera ain't got the quality of a normal camera but it has very (VERY) good low light photo abilities.

  • If no stock in Dicksmith, try David Jones, they too have same price as electronics in david jones is powered by Dicksmith. Good luck !!!

    • A bit late to respond but many thanks for this tip. There were no LG G2 in stock at DJs Sydney city yesterday, but the helpful shop assistant located 2 at DJs Chatswood and 2 at Waringah Mall…and called Chatty to double check. I had one set aside. I have been stalking this phone for weeks at the lower price in Dick Smith without luck until yesterday :-) My current phone is an LG (also thanks to Ozbargain), and battery capacity is brilliant.

  • I think the old One was just a victim of poor timing. The snapdragon 800 released soon after and Sony moved quick to refresh the line whereas HTC didn't move at all. Unfortunately, only Samsung can afford to sit still for 12 months (10 actually). I hope this really turns it around for them this time because I can't see why anyone would buy a cheap plastic flagship over one that has been well built with materials in mind

Harvey Norman price matched…I got lg g2 black 32 gb for $517 with six months interest free…

    • If you don't mind me asking, is there any point in not paying it all off outright? I am confused as to why you have a need for six months interest free, did you take out a payment plan?

      • Its not a monthly mobile carrier plan,I already have ge interest free card.Actually I tried for 24 months interest free but they cant give that with reduced price.

  • Bought LG G2 from the Dicksmith shop crnr of Swanston and Burke.. The lady at the counter was surprised at the price and said that this is an error. But she was happy to sell the phone for $517

  • I nabbed a G2 at the Morayfield store yesterday afternoon, and there's still one left today for any Ozbargainers.

Interestingly enough, click and collect didn't show any stock even with 2 units in stock yesterday.
