    edit: thanks for the update

  • sorry, my first post

    • ok, no worries, then change your url to the page on shoppingsquare.

  • Guys, Please visit this link to check our bargain deals: http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_6863_LaCie_1TB_Hard_Disk_…

  • It's still $10 postage it Margaret River in southwest WA, so I imagine it's $10 everywhere.

$149 inc delivery. Pretty good. Cheapest brand name option at 9289 with free delivery is $159, OLC who are normally cheap and are currently claiming "cheapest online" with this exact product are $165 + shipping ($26.40 to Perth!).

    Good bargain.

This is the same drive as the office works posted 2 days ago

Well, that scuttles the bargainness of it.

Still a good price with free shipping, but Officeworks are nationwide and much easier to return products to. So they're about even. Meaning this is still a good price, but not a bargain.

      Removing positive.

good deal. I bought mine about a year ago for $200 from Harris Technology.

However I prefer Western Digital MyBook over this drive. Here is why:

    • MyBook is almost silent
    • MyBook has power saving mode, it goes into hibernation if you don't use it for 10 minutes or so
    • MyBook has got a longer power cable
    • MyBook uses the smaller type of USB connector
    • MyBook stands up vertically instead of lying down flat, so take up less space.
    • If you're Mac stay away from WD's range for "Mac" as they aren't fully supported. I learned my lesson and will stick with LaCie. I did consider WD because of the lower price. However WD's range for "Mac" cannot be used as startup disk. And the quality just doesn't compare to LaCie.. well the Porsche series anyway. Gotta say that LaCie's are turning more and more plastic.

      • Kayeee, isn't WD the preferred external storage recommended by apple in general? They sell it on their site, surely its compatible?

  • OW have these for $149… considering postage, handiness of stores etc, i think they're about even (OW has the edge on this for me).

    Thanks!

    • …As noted by aznsniper above.

Yeah for the same price at OfficeWorks i'd rather buy it there. Much easier to return for warranty purposes. No postage delays.

However, "citybargainhunter" makes a good point regarding the WD MyBook comparison.

OfficeWorks price matched it and I paid 132.05 for it

      Holy crap, really?
It's supposed to be company policy that OW will only price match online stores with the item + shipping price. So 5% off $149, not $139.
      You are very lucky.
