Chalk and cheese. The 12-40 is a significantly better lens.
The 12-50mm is a lower end lens - the RRP for that kit is $1899 whereas the RRP for the PRO kit $2399. It is still a very good deal from MYER, though - just on a different kit.
You can a Full Frame Sony a7 + lens for less than this.
Sony lens wouldn't compare I dare say. Oly make some of the best lenses available at very reasonable prices.
