is 4 a lucky number making people so excited about?

    • +18

From a Chinese / Korean / Japanese perspective it'd be a rather unlucky number.

    • +4

Not that we are aware of, but it seemed like as good of an excuse as any to offer a promotional discount.

      • +1

I would have thought that $44.14 (4/4/14) would have been more fitting.

        • +18

It's not often an OzBargainer recommends less of a discount. Is this a first?

        • +11

          44% would have me.

        • +8

          Thanks more like it…

44% would have us out of business.

If we where the type of store with margins big enough to cover a 44% discount, Ozbargain wouldn't be the place for us to begin with.

        • +7

          Don't worry on 9/9 I'll be asking for a $99.14 discount :-)

        • +6

          Don't worry on 9/9 I'll be asking for a $99.14 discount :-)

Real OzBargainers would ask for a 99% discount lol

Slo20 reminds me the Norton + 32G Micro SD deal a few weeks back….smile…even sleeping..

      • can you offer 1212.12 off during december?

  • +1

Deal is great considering the original price is fair. $44.44 off + free shipping makes around $70 off for a normal machine.

  • Wow…wonder what happens if your birthday is on the 4th of the 4th ????

    • Mine is! If you're lucky they give you a gaming PC for FREE!
But in all honesty, Valve send you an email informing you that they're skipping Half Life 3 and going straight to Half Life 4.

  • Is there going to be a better deal at 4:44:44 today?…

    • Nice try, but I don't think there will be.

    • Only you can make it on time.

  • +6

    Half Life 4 confirmed.

  • +1

    I like your website's interface

    • Agreed, it does look good. Doesn't seem to be a running tally though.

I need a new computer, but I haven't done enough research lately to see whats needed and whats a good deal.
It would save on the postage though….

      • Hi Mainsail,

There should be a running tally on the right hand side of the page. It might be cut off on smaller screens. Sorry about that, it's not easy squeezing so much detail in a readable format in to some of those tiny screens. If your on a mobile it should display a running tally at the bottom of the page.

    • Thanks :) we worked a long time on it and its always nice to hear positive feedback. Any suggestions on how to improve it is always welcome too!

  • Btw rep - that picture that's shown on the top of this OzBargain webpage…shows pretty much only 44% of the computer tower, was that planned too or just a coincidence? lol

    • +2

<- this was purely intentional, we've been planning this day since we redesigned our website 5 months ago..

  • +1

only 3 + votes on 4444 deal :( are we waiting until 4pm for the 4th?

    • I think we should cap the number of votes at 44 :P

      • +2

If you can get the number of votes to 44 before the end of the day we will run this promo for another 4 days and add a further $4.44 cent discount bring it up to $48.88

And we all know how lucky 888 is..

        • +1

          C'mon guys + vote this - I need that extra $4.44 off!

  • I'd consider this deal but I've just ordered a custom computer elsewhere a few days ago.

  • Last time I bought a computer on 4/4, it died…

  • Hum, interesting.
Can anyone comment on the best value build for a combined home/office/game rig from these guys for around $600 or so?
    Thanks.

    • Hi Blaircam,

Any gaming rig would easily handle any typical office and home use. $600 isn't a massive budget but our promo AMD Budget Gaming PC is only $610.56 after the discount is applied + free shipping and probably the best bang for your buck at the moment.

      • Ok - you got me.
It looked like a decent build for a good price so I pulled the trigger.
        Thanks.

        • How do I get the extra $4.44?
Want to give me some kind of upgrade?

  • +1

Took the plunge and bought the budget PC with Windows 8. Looking forward to it :D

Number 4 (四; accounting 肆; pinyin sì) is considered an unlucky number in Chinese because it is nearly homophonous to the word "death" (死 pinyin sǐ). Due to that, many numbered product lines skip the "4"

    • thats also why they dont have a floor number 4, they just skip it

  • Not a bad option for those who wish to have a rig built by someone else.
was cheaper for my yo build my own so i went that route a month ago.

    • darn paid before the extra discount applied

      • Maybe PM rep, maybe they can arrange something

  • +1

lol simple fact i wouldnt buy it cos so many 4's lol~ no thanks

  • I guess I'll wait a bit for the next 9/9/99 sale.

  • +1

Just a quick complement to your website design, really great and friendly

  • +1

3 more votes for this deal to continue until Monday.

  • +2

    $48.88 off, what's up? :)

  • hey guys computer newb here,
is the gaming computer here on sale, worth it?
    http://evatech.com.au/custom-pcs/3261-amd-promo-custom-gamin…

    • Yes. Not a bad system overall for $600 ish. The power supply is a generic, which is a bit of a worry but since it's a low end rig it shouldn't be an issue.

If you know how to build it yourself, you can spec up a similar system, but with a branded case and PSU, for $650.

  • Sorry I had to post, woke up and was 44 posts. EEEKKK

  • wow, I've never heard of this page :( Just purchased a pre made computer because I couldn't find good prices on custom computers at all :( well next computer will be purchased from this site, it's amazing.

  • Good stuff there rep - keep us posted with new deals. I don't need one now but once the tax return comes in I think I will buy one !

  • Shipping costs are ridiculous for regional NSW
$23.50 shipping to Sydney but $108 dollars to my region
I realise this is Fastway charge not rep but On that basis - no deal

    • For the record, as stated in the title of our post, it is free shipping on PC orders while the discount code is valid; until the end of today (Monday) - 4 days in total, because we fell in love with the number 4…

We generally opt not to use Fastway on some regional areas as they hand the parcel of to another company which we've had nothing but bad experiences with, and pay more than what Fastway charges us to have the system delivered safely rather than not at all. This is why the price is so high, regularly. For the purpose of the sale though, we waived these costs.

      Happy shopping. :)

  • Good deal but nothing special. $600 worth in parts for $600 rig. If you had $100 off the $600 rig then might consider it :)

    • You forgot labour, which is an extra charge at most computer shops ranging from $50~80.

      • What about those that don't need labour

        • +1

Then perhaps they should vote Liberal.

        • Zing.

  • ill pull the trigger if its still free shipping but doesnt seem to be?

    • Should still be active - the shipping estimator will tell you the regular shipping price, but when you go through to checkout it should negate the shipping cost with the coupon code entered.
We gave it a whirl just now, seems to be working that way. Let us know if you have any issues.

      • Cheers! its working on the next checkout page. thanks for the reply.
Just waiting to talk to my partner and if she gives me the Ok ill grab the Budget AMD tonight. it will still be on sale until midnight?

        • Should be fine up until 11:59pm. Good luck! =]

Edit: Just checked the rule, was set to expire at 11:09:08 for some reason, (not even any fours?!) I changed it to 11:59:59pm.
