'Film Never Die', then expires in Nov 2015?
    How ironic.

    • +13

Haha Film Never Die is our movement name, film still expires but if you keep them in the fridge it will definitely last longer ! :D

But who say expired films can't be use ?

      • +5

using expired films is like applying Instagram filters

  • +14

    What IS that?

    • +15

some kind of weird toilet paper

      • +1

haha! I wonder it will burn your butt.. lol

      • Can't be… It's already brown

    • +1

Its a roll of film that you use on vintage , analogue camera, a slower fun way of taking pictures than the digital snap snap snap :D

will save you heaps of time on the computer post processing !

      • +10

It was never fun waiting a week for the stupid things to get developed, only to find out that half of them were duds.

        • +1

Yeah that do happen. But there are still so many good vintage awesome lens around !

        • +2

If it was only 1/2 dud, you are lucky!

      • … except you will also spend a hell of a lot more time scanning, fixing with curves and then spotting. And spotting. And spotting.

  • +19

Can I order via smoke signal and pay with rocks?

    • +15

if its a rare / vintage rocks, or maybe with gold deposit in it, we can talk :D

      • Bitcoins?

        • we were thinking about it, we are still reviewing our options, any good payment gateway recommendation for bitcoin? like http://coinbox.it/merchant ?

        • Coinjar is an Australian processor and then there are the overseas ones like bitpay and coinbase.

        • cool thanks for that info will look into that ! :D

  • +3

    Will it work on Android?

    • +34

No , but I believe it is still compatible with Nokia 3310.

  • +1

Did you steal that from a museum ?

  • Wow, I'm old enough to remember film. Brave Old World you guys are trying to restart, OP. Good luck. But seeing as $4.85 could buy me a SD card, I couldn't justify it. Maybe a bargain for the nostalgics and artists.

    • haha thanks for the wishes! yeah you are quite right! We do Polaroid too, just so you know.

      • whooo… now i can do the polaroid shake dance….

        • +9

haha Shake it, shake it like a Polaroid picture! but its actually not good to shake the film you know, cause it will disintegrate and break the bottom part of the image.

  • +1

do you guys develop film? i have about 15 undeveloped rolls i need made into negs… i can post them

    • +2

Yup you can ! send me an email on [email protected]

    • Edit: Removed comment

    • +27

If you need help with negs, maybe you should speak to jv?

      • +2

        who is jv?

        • +20

He's positively the most negged poster on the forum because of his often lame but sometimes funny quips. I enjoy him now and then but many are allergic to him.

        • +2

wow , yeah sometimes you need to be negatively funny to put the point across.

        • +14

          who is JV?

shame on you rep, this deserves 1000 negs LOL

        • +2

Sounds like JV is pretty Legendary .. lol, i wonder what sort of deal he normally submit?

        • +1

i wonder what sort of deal he normally submit?

Ones that have the deal pickup location or shipping charges in the title so people don't waste their time clicking on deals like this.

        • +2

Yup sorry , fixed that now.

      • +3

I will go with the OP here because his negs actually develop.

        • LOL

  • +3

Does it have that "new film" smell when you first open the canister? Loved that smell!

    • +3

I believe it does, it's kinda like the new card smell from the days when I play Magic the Gathering!

  • +1

I'm more than happy to let film die at this point in time.

    • +2

haha, come see some of the 120 ( medium format ) shots we done and projected out onto wall. you will know why it's still not :D

      • +2

I still have my 35mm slide projector. Most people have not even seen 35mm slides projected. They were often stunned when I showed them what it could do.

        • I can't agree more , we show people our slides in our gallery too, yup stunned is the right word! Imaging projecting a 120 / Medium format slides .. :D

  • +1

Is anyone still using film to take photos?

    • +9

Yeah it does, funny you asked that, because I used to shoot heaps on my digital SLR Sony A200, but one day my hard-disk died and I lost heaps of photos, without back up I lost about 2 years worth of photos.

Then I discover those cool vintage looking cameras, that is made from metal and leather and film again. Since then I figured out since I don't shoot professionally, it does't really justify for me to buy a $2,000 gear that depreciate yearly. Might as well get a decent Vintage Looking film SLR for about $200-300 that would have the same value or appreciate in value yearly.

Since then shooting picture been more slow pace, fun and exciting again! At least I don't spent as much time in front of the computer post processing them any more, only shoot the one is worth shooting. :D

      • Most people still end up post processing film based shots anyway on the computer :) But you have the extra step of scanning the film or the photo back into the PC in the first place. Either way, at least film is kinda still available after Fuji and Kodak have pretty much pulled out of the game.

        • True. I was hearing a Leica digital user saying this morning how he want to get back Film, to get feeling of knowing each shot is costing him money, so he will take more care in shooting.

But you are right, its really a matter of choice and approaches, but ultimately lot of film photos ended up digital anyway.

    • +2

Film has a unique look that is hard to replicate in digital.
For example, B&W in film has beautiful grainy look. For portrait, Kodak Portra or Fuji Pro 400H have excellent skin colour rendering.

      • +1

Agree! I got heaps of customer / friends say: "Portra is addictive like drugs" haha

  • +4

Film is awesome! check out lomography. People need to slow down sometimes.

    • Can't agree more! :D We do Lomography too, in fact sitting next to me in the gallery is one of the best Lomographer in Australia. http://syphotog.tumblr.com/

  • +4

If i neg a neg… would it be a positive vote than?

    • +1

      haha mathematically you are correct!

  • People still use camera film?

    • I have a Canon (can't remember the model) that I tried to give away without success, I can't bear to throw it out. I also still have two rolls of B&W film, probably expired by now

  • I still have a fridge full of velvia, provia in 135 and 120.
I cringe when I see how much they cost.

I do not do much film anymore, but I still enjoy shooting Neopan 400 ocassionally. I have to make each shot count as it was discontinued last year. only 12 rolls left in the fridge.

  • Ahh memories. Those canisters also made great pop rockets

    • +2

Cool! We got heaps of them lying around! Come grab some from our gallery if anyone wants some! :D

    • +2

I did something similar to that once in high school and it nearly got me expelled.. Mine involved a little bit of deodorant in the canister ignited by the little sparky pulled out of a gas stove lighter.

Clever me then detonated it in the school playground. Sigh..

  • Even the early days of digital are nostalgic. Back in 2004 I paid close to $200 for a 512MB CF card. It was still cheaper than paying for a dozen rolls of slide film and their processing, not to mention the bulk in my backpack. I haven't looked back since.

  • +1

the film is cheap… but getting it developed is bloody expensive and it takes ages…

    • +3

We can do $6 a roll for developing only for c41! yeah takes about a week…

      • How much the scan for 36 exp?

        • scan?

        • Scan is $10, Prints for 4 x 6 inches $5

        • Yup you can Scan them at high dpi resulting at a good resolution photo. This are some of my own personal work on a medium format Hasselblad 500 CM film camera :

          http://www.gary-wong.com/gallery

  • +19

I remember the film days, even learnt how to process it at school.

OP, gave you a +1 for your positive attitude and not getting defensive and nasty as others do when their deals are criticised! :)

    • +6

      thanks mate!

    • +4

Same here. +1 for all of your replies. I enjoyed reading them!

  • Do you sell just the cannisters?

    • The plastic one container or the actual empty roll of film?

  • +2

Thanks Rep, for the blast to the past. :) I wish I hadn't traded in my slr and lenses. I do miss the days of flim.

and the days where sepia anything is a *badly taken/developed photo unlike the insta-gram thingy kids use nowadays.

    * exggeration

    • yeah how ironic it is how instagram is bring back all the X-pro , Sepia, BW filter just so we can experience the past.

  • +2

    Approx 50 Megapixels :)

    • +1

yeah i was going to say that, how film have more megapixels than most of the digital cameras.

      • Unfortunately a lot of the old camera lenses were not up to it. I notice lens deficiencies before grain in my scans.

        • Yeah that is very true, so I was hesitate to use Megapixel to win over people but given the right exposure, right film and the right camera, film can still do wonder!

    • +2

Fresh sensor with every roll. Beat that, digital!

  • +2

I picked up some Polaroid 600 film off FilmNeverDie a while back; they are a small operation but very friendly, knowledgable and sell good quality stock. I will definitely be ordering some of this for my trusty Nikon FM2; ISO 200 film is increasingly hard to come by these days, especially at a discount. Thanks OP!

    • there is an abundance of 200 film sold throughout the us and japan. Its very easy and cheap to bring into Australia

      • +1

Well sure, but I was referring to local stock. And usually that film works out to be about ~$5 for a 36ex roll anyway, which is basically what the OP is selling for from Melbourne… Don't get me wrong, I'm all for importing when it's worth the wait, but I'll always buy local if they're competitive with price.

    • +2

Hey, a FilmNeverDier! thanks for the support! We just expanded our gallery space, come hang out again when you free :D

  • +1

+1 just because of the fact that you contribute to the survival of "paper"!

    Sent from iPhone typewriter.

  • +3

You win for 'Most Active Rep in a Thread'.

    Congrats ^_^

    • Hah, thanks ! OZB get me more engagement than in Facebook! this is great! :D

  • +2

Any 5 1/4 floppy disks for my c64?

    • We don't have Floppy Disks.. but I remember seeing them in the last Camera market at Box Hill Town Hall (mid March 2014) , I can put a note to keep an eye out for ya on the next one if you want?

    • I actually have some of those - still sealed!

  • +1

I thought MacGyver was the only person still able to develop these?

    • +1

Haha I actually did't know who he was until I googled him up…

    • +2

You are WAY too young then. How can you even know about film?

      • Yeah I rediscover film after my digital stint and I did a small story how I was shooting digital and lost my hard-disk ,above :D

  • Any idea when you're getting more stock of HP5 35mm?
