49 Piece Pass-through Socket Set 1/2", 3/8", 1/4" $30 at Masters (Was $120?)

410

I came across these at Masters in Roxburgh Park Victoria, so I'm not sure if it applies at other stores.

This is a 49 piece set of KOBALT brand "Xtreme Access" sockets in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". They are a clearance item and I couldn't find them on the website any more, so I guess it is whatever store stock you can find. Although they are KOBALT brand, these seem quite good quality and are highly chromed/polished and heavy. The "advantage" or novelty of the "Xtreme Access" is that you can use these sockets on nuts that are on a long bolt, allowing the excess length to poke through and not interfere with the socket as is normally the case. The set looks a bit like a ratchet ring spanner in the drive handle, with sockets to suit with pass-through. Even the extension bars have pass-through. There are also adaptors to convert the handle to standard ratchet drive if you want, as well as the obligatory padding with Philips, flat, hex and Torx drive bits.

The full set was $120 (or the tag said save $120, I got too excited to remember). Now $30.
They also have a separate 1/4"-only set in a case, now $10, save $5.
And a separate 3/8"-only set, now $20, save $10.

      linky winky

  • 1 inch is 25.4mm.
$20 link is 12.7mm that is 1/2 inch not 3/8 as in post description.
$10 link is 9.5m that is 3/8 inch not 1/4 as in post description.

    • Thanks, added the quarter inch link to the original post. They only had 2 single sizes and the full set at my store. The savings marked on the price tag seems to be all over the place between the store and online.

  • Showing as in stock at Ellenbrook and Bibra Lake (WA).

Nice price, I'll have a look at my local (West Gosford NSW) store tomorrow or Sat.

Don't really need this, but for $30 I'll find a reason to get it anyway.

  • Quite sure I got the last one from Ellenbrook, was labeled as having a faulty 1/4, so had an attached 16 piece set 1/4 to replace it! Thing is the 1/4 appears fine, so two sets for $30 :) Thanks OP

Also don't forget to pick up a free sample pot of paint, ends tomorrow.

  • thanks

  • Website says "Available in store" at Wendouree (Ballarat).

Guy in store says "They all disappeared within an hour of going on sale, like 4 days ago".

Glad I spent my lunch break driving out there to get a set… recommend you call ahead to check stock.

  • Just picked one up at Hawthorn store. There is easily 10 remaining. They are all on a shelf on a corner of an aisle near tool section with no prices on them ;)

Overhead a staff member mumbling about the price and it being an online thing.

  • Got the last one this morning at Canberra airport

  • Me and a buddy just picked up the last 2 sets at Masters in Bibra Lake WA.

    Quality seems good.

    • phew. lucky i got in before you guys. yeh agreed, great value!

  • Looked at north lakes with no luck :( They supposedly had 9 according to computer, but neither me or the staff could find them. I was going to ask how the box looks like, but I can see that there is a photo in the top post now. I might have another look if I'm around. If anyone know where they are positioned, please do tell.

    • by north lakes if you mean the one at Bibra Lake then check the middle area of the store for the Kobalt display. There were still a few left an hour ago.

      • No, I meant North Lakes in Brisbane :) Anyway, bought it from a different store so all good.

  • Any left in Sydney?

  • picked last one from Middleborough boxhill victoria.

  • Purchased one (less an additional 15%) from the Tingalpa store at midday. There were 3 left.

They are/were located in the shelves that face the front wall, down on the bottom shelf.

  • These would be great for Subaru spark plugs

  • are all these comments re stock for the full set? I am just interested in the 1/2"

    • I saw quite a few 1/2" ones still available in Melbourne yesterday, not sure about Brisbane. Instead of paying $20 for that set, for $10 more you get 4 times as many pieces if you can find the full set.

  • just picked one up from Bibra Lake (WA). There were 2 or 3 cases left.

There are none on the shelf. You need to find the Kobalt display in the middle area of the store and they are there.

  • picked up 3 at South Morang, Guy told me they still have stock stored above the shelfs.

  • Tanks poster picked up one today 11am from Forrestdale WA had about 5 or more left. Very surprised by the quality got the $30 pack is spot on!

  • Dammit we don't have masters in Tas and online has sold out of the full set.
Anyone care to get a extra and ship it?

    • Sorry - would have if I saw your post earlier

  • I bought the 2nd to last 49pc socket set at Hawthorn East this arvo - nice pick up for $30

  • Looks like I bought the last one at Tingalpa. Plenty of the smaller sets still there though (as of today Sunday). The small sets comes in the same carry case, just smaller. They are with all the other sockets sets, very easy to find. Not marked down on the shelf though, hence why there are still some left. Very nice set, thank you!

I ended up buying a 67 piece kit…was priced at $30…but it scanned for $20…plus the 15% voucher = $17!!!!! win, winning, won!

Only thing was that the 67 piece set was not pass-through socket set…but for $17…can't complain…
