3 Sapporo 650ml for $15 Dan Murphy's (Receipt Added)

150

Not sure if this is at every Dan's but I just picked up 3 x 650ml Sapporo in the can for $15. Seems like a reasonable deal. This was at Dan Murphys Camberwell.

(This store also had a lot of cheap random stock they are selling like odd single beers and wines marked down between $1.12 and $10+)

go to your local dans, and tear up all the cardboard holding the beer packs together.. return next day for discounted beers. HA

  • are these the same can you can get at Woolworths?
    I don't think they're brewed in Japan

    • Pretty sure these big can ones are brewed in Japan. I could be wrong though.

      • That's what I thought until I read the label on the back of the can (I think China but definitely not a country worth remembering).
Hopefully someone can confirm whether Dan's has different stock to woolworths

        • Pretty sure they are brewed in Vietnam and imported to Aus. Still better than the bottled stuff you get brewed here (in SA?) though. What a shock that was when I got home from drinking the real stuff for 150Yen. Yuck

        • Might be Canada according to Jim's Cellar description:
          http://www.jimscellars.com.au/_product/view-product/sapporo-…

        • Yes (from Dan's website):
          Brewery Under license in Canada

        • Lol, I really need to learn to scroll down

Its annoying how most of these Japanese breweries are now being brewed in countless countries. Like Asahi for example China, Thailand, and UK.

They are becoming the Fosters of Japan.

        • Definitely new stocks we now get are brewed in Vietnam.

Check the barcode on the back of the can. If it starts with 45 or 49 then they're brewed in Japan. If it's something else… then somewhere else.

Check here if it's something else: http://www.makebarcode.com/specs/ean_cc.html

        • Drinking one now. I can confirm it's brewed in Vietnam.

I would say this is a weak/fruity version of the proper stuff you get brewed in Japan. It's much closer than the bottled stuff brewed in SA, but it lacks the "punch" in the aftertaste.

  • Do you have a receipt? The pic/link you posted says $7.89/can.

Note this is a lightly falvoured, and lightly gassed, beer. Not to my likeing but apparently the biggest selling imported beer in the USA so what would I know! I bought some at the same time as getting this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139194 which was still available (brisbane) yesterday…with a their general (current?)discount of 10% off single price when you buy 10 of any bottles.

The check-out chick worked out that 12 x $2.99 minus 10% was cheaper than the 12 pack price of $34.99! She must be an Ozbargainer!!!!

    • Which store did you visit? So I guess this 3 Saporo can's is at all Dans stores. Thanks for the info.

Dans The Gap is where I bought the Sappo, Dans Chermside where I picked up the 12 Days just because I was there.

I had this about a year ago and it tasted decent - I didn't check the producing country and had just assumed it was Japan.

I also had the pleasure of having the SA-made Sapporo stubbies around the same time, which tasted nothing like the Sapporo I know. I think these were made under licence by Cooppers.
