    not sure about warranty

    • effectively none, nice box though, shame about that part

Refurbished unit, shipped from the USA.

    High risk!

    • Its Manufacturer/Factory refurbished. Not refurbished by Joe. Manufacturer's only sell-back after stringent quality checks.

you should tick 'representative' in that case

        • +3

If I be a representative of beach camera USA, I don't have to come here and advertise.

          what does that even mean?

in my experience even buying refurbished DELL from dell factory outlet sometimes still give you lemon.

      • Why was it refurbished in the first place then? S..it happens

        • yes sometimes it does, but not all refurbs are ex faulty, some are just change of mind/not suitable returns and by law you can't always resell as 'new'

Certainly cheap IF you're prepared to take the risk (~$300 off new).

Just a comment for anyone thinking about it. The 90 day warranty is worth virtually zip - by the time you organise to return the laptop and sort out any issues (at your own cost) it will have been used up. Meantime you have no computer. I have no problems with "factory" refurbished, have bought refurbished HP before from Grays online, but always with 12 months warranty. Had one screen problem develop, replaced under warranty at a local (to me) computer repair agency. Simple, free, no hassles. The point? Don't be put off by refurbished IF the price and warranty are good and the reputation of the seller is known.

    • And the new one is standard def. I bet a FHD (full high def) with same specs (Core i7, dedicated graphics…., 8 gb ram) won't be less than $1300 anywhere in Australia. So a saving of almost $550.

      • So a saving of almost $550.

A second hand and repaired item automatically has a depreciated value so therefore that savings figure is irrelevant. Also new local stock has both store and manufacturer warranty, where as discussed above this pretty much has no warranty.

I think its still a great deal, because its Factory Refurbished.

Although most of us know the meaning of refurbished, but still many thinks that its a used, dirty, soiled machine sold by seller "Joe" to buyer "Tom". Its actually not the case …

I lived in the US for 4 years and I have previously bought a factory refurbished Xbox (from BestBuy), Sony Music System (from Sony US Website), Dell Laptop (from Dell Ebay Store) and a Vizio Sound bar (from Tiger Direct) … they were all in almost new condition ….. and worked perfectly.

Here is the exact meaning of Refurbishment (according to wikipedia) ….

Refurbishment is the distribution of products (usually electronics) that have been previously returned to a manufacturer or vendor for various different reasons. Refurbished products are normally tested for functionality and defects before they are sold, and thus are the approximate equivalent of certified pre-owned cars.

  • It could have changed, but asus use to offer global warranty on their laptops. So perhaps it could be covered here?

    • Nothing to say it's ASUS warranty.

  • US seller with rating 97.6%? Does not sound good.

    • Agree!
Only time I have had trouble was with 2 sellers with less than 99% rating

Less than $10 not such an issue but forget it at this amount.

  • anyone received there unit yet?
