Air India Flights to Europe (Paris & London) $1750 Return for June out of MEL

53

I booked a return flight to Europe (Arrive London - Depart Paris) for $1800 including a week stop over in New Delhi India for $1800 return.. Leaving 26 June return August 2nd.. ($1750 without the stop over)

The cheapest flights are in and out of Paris (CDG) but some London (LHR) flights are cheap too.

Amazing deal vs other airlines for short notice and peak season… No idea how long this will be up for but get on it asap, other airlines are upto $3000 minimum now for the same dates.

Yeah… but… it's a week in New Delhi/India. Don't get me wrong India is an amazing place but you've got to know exactly what you're getting into before you go there. Also you need to arrange Visas well in advance. An OzBargain paradise for sure but it is much of the same stuff everywhere you go. If you are going to be there for at least a few days, first go to a tailor to get a suit made so that it will be ready before you have to leave.

    • Having traveled in India I agree. Get visas early and also think about the recommended vaccinations. It's a fascinating country but certainly can be challenging. It was the most difficult country for me out of all I have visited in terms of attempted scams and touts… endless touts most places you go harrassing you.

Vietnam Air is more than $200 cheaper during this same period, also an undoubtedly better airline in regards to service than Air India.

What dates are you searching for $1550? Are you talking about those dodgy 3rd party providers you see on skyscanner?

My dates are in the link above, or again here.

  • Just searched my dates on Vietnam air and best was $2,220.05 with no stop over.

Hopefully it is OK, atleast my flights are really broken up so if its bad it'll be in smaller doses.

Yeah I'll have to have a visa because I'm going to the country but don't think you would if you were just stopping over for a few hours? The visa is only $80 anyway so not too much to worry about with that.

So I've tried a number of dates and nothing for me in June. Are you sure?

  • Just in case someone actually gets this "deal" - you need to apply in advance for a visa (source). The tourist visa costs around $100 to get, and takes quite a while because of indian government bureaucracy.

This is until october, when the Indian government is finally allowing tourist visas on arrival, however that's october so you would still need to apply beforehand for this "deal". If you went later, it would be free.

That's not even considering the other options to get to Europe. There are flights around that time (as others have said) for about $1550-1600 on arguably better airlines. No deal here, especially considering Indian visa costs.

    • Not arguing with the rest of your points, but the claim that it takes quite a while to get the Visa (in my experience) isn't true. I have organised an Indian visa twice in the last two years and in both cases they came back within a week.

  • Not best price so no bargain

  • I'm looing at flight to the europe in june/july.
